|Complete the Game on Nightmare Difficulty|
Nightmare difficulty is fairly difficult if you don't use New Game+ to keep your upgraded gear. Enemies will have more of health and deal massive amounts of damage per hit so be extremely careful while fighting. Complete all six chapters from start to finish on nightmare difficulty to unlock this achievement.

Can you start out on Nightmare or do you have to do a play-through on a lower difficulty first to unlock it?
Wednesday, June 15, 2011 @ 08:20:26 AM
you can start out at whatever difficulty you please, i think i'm going to play through on normal first, then play hard or nightmare later. it's a pretty tough game.

I'm playing through on Nightmare right now. (First play through) This is quite a difficult achievement. I am stuck in the last Radula Room of Chapter 2 at the moment. >:/

Best way is to play through on a lower difficulty because it has a
new game+ feature.

Thursday, June 16, 2011 @ 02:17:53 PM
Can you change the difficulty anytime in the game? Meaning start with the hardest and if you get stuck, lower it.

I'd actually suggest attempting this on a 2nd playthrough, if only because having the "Classic" dress unlocked lets you regenerate health whenever you shrink.

it'll be so much easier to get the DLC and use the upgraded weapons and the fleshmaiden dress

Do you also have to play the original Alice on nightmare as well to get this cheevo?

@ Raven: No. Just beat Madness Returns.

This is actually really easy to get. Just beat the game on like normal or easy to fully upgrade your weapons, then get the DLC. It'll give you better/stronger weapons and a dress called Fleshmaiden that lets you use Hysteria at anytime you want. I'm doing it this way and i'm almost done Chapter 3. It's not to bad

yeaa.. when i looked at this i thought it was gonna be terrible. but after playing on normal and getting everything upgraded it is SO EASY. pretty sure i've died like once. and i'm on the 4th chapter.
great game btw. couldn't have asked for it to be better.

does anyone know if the achievements for completing the game are stackable? so if I did it on Nightmare would I get the normal + hard achievements? I've already played it on easy just to get a 1st playthru under my belt. Happy Gaming Everyone. :D

I was just wondering, if you have done up to chapter 3 on Nightmare mode, but went back to an earlier chapter to pick up a last memory, would it still give the achievement if I now go back to the point I left it at?

If you do not want to play through the entire game again on Nightmare or find it too frustrating, you can "cheat" the achievement assuming you have completed the game once already.
Start a New Game + on Nightmare and exit out after the first autosave.
Go to Chapter Select, select the final part of Chapter 1 and complete it.
Play through the beginning of Chapter 2 until the first autosave.
Go to Chapter Select, select the final part of Chapter 2 and complete it.
Repeat the above for every chapter.

If you change difficulty during the story will the achievements still unlock?
With games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Terminator Salvation if you
change the difficulty (doesn't matter to a easier or harder setting) during the
single player you DO NOT get the achievements for ANY of the difficulty
achievements. Is it the same in this game?

Was wondering if anybody else has been having problems getting this achievement. I have played the entire story once on Normal and then played New Game+ on Nightmare difficulty twice all the way through and still have yet to get this achievement. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong here, any help would be appreciated?

I first started the game on Easy, then did the little cheat with the chapter select on Nightmare mode, at the end it unlocked Normal and Hard as well the Nightmare play through achievement.
So in case people wondered if they could skip multiple play throughs, they can. That saved a bit of hassle.

Amazing! The strategy recommended by Comment #21 by Mr PaNtsONhEaD works perfectly. If you played the game on easy the first time, the achievements stack, so you should get the following achievements:
The Beginning of the End (at the end of chapter 1)
The Imaginative Endure
The Persistent Flourish

seems a lil buggy the cheevos in this game. ive tried the cheat twice an it hasnt worked an didnt unlock even tho a couple others did. an also a few of the other cheevos i had to do twice specifically the vorpal blade an another weapon acquire cheevo along with complete vale of tears did not unlock even tho i completed them several times. they are story cheevos so cant be missed but my game bugged out so now i gotta get em again.

If you've already beaten the game. but, if you want to unlock the acheivements for the harder difficulties can you skip to the last boss and beat him or do you have to play the entire game all over again?

Credits goes to comment #21 for an easy walk though which had taken me just about 45 minutes ( I went for the 7 minutes on a vent achievement ) I did unlock this achievement as well as the other for beating the game on Hard. They do stack. Also, you could skip Alice's memories cut scenes by pressing start but I couldn't figure out how to skip through the other cut scenes, though they were well written and amusing.

As for comment #51, I have all my roses; not just four. Maybe the dress you chose limited her rose count? I believe that the Royal Suit does that.

Thanks for the trick #21. Completed it easily, only died once on first chapter before I read up on this site. Used the hatter dress because I had over 3k teeth to start nightmare with. >> Didn't come close to dying on final encounter, still had over 2k left.
