Probably there is a higher difficulty then Hard description clearly mentions it otherwise it's a odd mistake

The gameplay looks pretty easy, I'm going for this first play through.

I've been playing the game for about 2 hours on Hard and "died" a few times, but the game features a system similar to the Vita-Chambers in BioShock 1 & 2, so it really hasn't been challenging at all. You lose some money, half your health is restored, and the enemies you left alive have some of their health restored too. That's all.
So far the game has been incredible... I felt that BioShock 1 was overrated and BioShock 2 was underrated, but Infinite shits on them both from a great height. It's truly utterly fantastic.

"Completed the game on Hard difficulty OR ABOVE." what's above hard? 1999? i guess beating the game on 1999 mode will unlock the achievements for easy, normal, and hard?

Would definitely recommend starting your first playthrough on Hard, as it's really not particularly challenging... I'm about 9 hours in and had no significant problems whatsoever.

Just beat the game on Hard. Don't worry, I won't spoil anything but I will say that I found ending twist mind-blowing, and much more thought-provoking than the twist in BioShock 1. I really think this is one of the greatest games ever made.
As for the difficulty, it definitely gets much tougher in the final third of the game. Still nothing too frustrating, except the battle I found hardest which took place in a graveyard took me about an hour. The final battle was also a challenge and took me about 30 minutes.

So I take it playing and beating the game on 1999 mode unlocks this achievement as well as the one for Normal and Easy.

It didn't give me the option to go straight for 1999 mode, so I doubt anyone here can do it before they do Hard, you're probably going to HAVE to do Hard mode before 1999, because there's an achievement for unlocking 1999 mode. You obviously aren't going to be able to choose it unless you've already unlocked it on a different difficulty, you probably unlock it by completing the game, no?

If you put in the Konami code at the start screen, you can get the achievement for unlocking 1999 mode and then you can play that mode first.

I've been trying the final battle on this on Hard for about 2.5 hours or more. I cannot seem to find a strategy that doesn't fail.

Can you change from normal to hard in the middle of the game and still get the achievement? Anyone know?

I can confirm that if you lower your difficulty during the final battle, you will still get the achievement for beating the game on hard.

Changing the difficulty right before the big battle doesnt work, on your pause menu when you change the difficulty, the game warns you that if you change the difficulty it effects the achievements. I did some research about the same thing but in BioShock 2, for that game, it would change the difficulty but wouldnt give you the achievements for the normal OR hard achievements. Therefore, I played it safe and stayed on normal since that final boss battle was so goddamn hard. So #14, I dont think it works.

What if you've had it on hard and you want to go back to old checkpoints to do collectables can you lower the difficulty?

Guys don't worry I've completed the game and I realised you can carry on on the same game, replaying chapters. Now I can play on easy to try and find the collectables. I have 1 voxaphone left, I think my games glitches so I got to run through all chapters again!

Just finished my Hard Mode playthrough today. It really wasn't that much different from Normal Mode. The only thing I found extremely hard was the first encounter with the Siren in the graveyard. Just keep an eye on your ammo and know your vigor combinations and you'll be fine.

If you play a few fps' or are avid with games in general do your first playthrough on hard, if you're good at fps'then I would even say start on 1999 mode. This game is great but extremely easy
