Introduction
Blazblue Continuum Shift is the sequel to Blazblue Calamity Trigger. Both are fighting games developed by Arc System Works, who are well known for many fighting games like Battle Fantasia, Arcana Heart 3, and the Guilty Gear series. Many things have been added to Blazblue Continuum Shift that were not present in its prequel like a tutorial, challenges for each character, and legion mode. There are also some 3 new additions to the roster (Hazama, Tsubaki, and Mu) as well as 3 additional characters (Makoto, Valkenhayn, and Platinum) that are DLC. You can buy each of them from the marketplace for 560 points and they come with 3 achievements each. Also, Lambda replaces Nu in this game as a playable character. A few changes have been made to gameplay in this sequel too. All characters have gained additional moves and have been tweaked, conditions to perform on Astral Heat have changed, and Guard Libra and Barrier Breaks have been replaced with Guard Primers and Break Bursts respectively.
This game has 50 achievements (59 with DLC) and the road to get there will be tough and time-consuming. Most of the achievements should not be very difficult, but there are a few that will make this a very challenging and lengthy completion that will trouble even those who are skilled at fighting games. This is because in order to get all of the achievements, you will need to beat Score Attack mode (which seems to be even more difficult than Calamity Trigger), reach level 50 online, and finish 100 challenges in the dreaded challenge mode.
This guide will also use numbers and arrows to explain moves and combos.

8 will be up, 6 will be right, 2 will be down, 4 will be left etc. 5 will be holding no direction. All moves assume you are on the left side of the screen and that you are using the default controls for the game. Letters will be used to explain moves as well. They will be as follows:

Step 1: Learn to Play the Game
Since this game will require a lot of skill to get all of the achievements, you should get yourself familiar with the game. You should do this even if you have played the first Blazblue since there are some changes to gameplay as mentioned in the introduction. Play through all of the tutorials to learn the controls, then go practice some characters and combos with them in Training mode. The following achievements shall unlock when finished with this step:
- Ragna Cum Laude
- I Can Do This All Night
Step 2: Arcade Mode
The next step is to play arcade mode with every character. This is a good opportunity to learn what characters you are best with if you do not know already. You can play on any difficulty you want with almost all of the characters since you will just need to play through them for the Mint Condition, but you will have to play through Arcade mode once on Hell difficulty for Hell Yes. The achievements you should get in this step are the following:
- Well, It's Something to Do...
- Tall, Dark, and Handsome
- Hell Yes
Step 3: Story Mode
Next, you should play through story mode. You will have to play through everyone's story multiple times because a lot of the artwork needed for Mint Condition comes from story mode. There is a guide available to help you get 100% in the story mode for each character. Please see the story mode achievements for more details on that. When you finish the story mode you will have the following achievements:
- Level One...!
- That's the End of That Chapter
- Is...Is That All?
- All Good Things
Step 4: Legion Mode
Legion Mode is a new mode to Blazblue where your goal is to conquer all of the squares as you go. Since there are three difficulties in this mode, you will have to play through this mode three times because the achievements are not stackable. More information on this mode will be under the Legion mode achievements. After completing Legion mode, you should have these achievements:
- Napoleon Bonaparte
- Alexander the Great
- Genghis Khan
Step 5: Character Achievements
This game has a number of achievements that involve doing various things in a match using a certain character. There are one achievement per character for the ones on disk and two for the DLC characters. These achievements can be done in any mode where you have matches except Training, Story, and possibly Legion. The character achievements and achievements you shall get while going for them if you do not have them already are as follows:
- I Get Around
- They Call Me MISTER Tiddles!
- Well, It's Not!
- Ice-Ten
- Are You There God? It's Me, Noel
- Twirling towards Freedom
- 1.21 Gigawatts!
- Taut Taunts
- Four Sheets to the Wind
- BEES!
- Loincloth Festival
- The Clap
- You're Already Dead
- Lamb to the Slaughter
- For Great Justice
- Beachball!
- Murakumo, AWAKEN!
- Fur and Loathing in Kagutsuchi (Makoto DLC)
- Oh Nuts (Makoto DLC)
- Battle Butler (Valkenhayn DLC)
- Three Wolf Moon (Valkenhayn DLC)
- For Whom the Bell Tolls (Platinum DLC)
- With Our Powers Combined! (Platinum DLC)
Step 6: Network Mode
There are many achievements in this game that are online-specific. You will be spending a lot of time in this mode since Ding Ding! is time-consuming and requires you to reach level 50 online. You will also need to play at least 100 matches in both Player Match and Ranked Match. Also, make sure you save at least 20 replays so you can watch them for Rear Window. These achievements are specific to online:
- I'm on Top of the World!
- I Can Quit Any Time I Want!
- Aniki is Watching You
- Two Men Enter. One Man Leaves.
- Only the Hard, Only the Strong
- There Can Be Only One
- Rear Window
- Ding!
- Ding Ding!
Step 7: Score Attack Mode
Score Attack Mode is where you must fight against all of the characters (some which you must face the Unlimited versions of) on a difficulty that is harder than Hell mode. Score Attack is more difficult in Continuum Shift than it was in Calamity Trigger so you will need a good strategy to beat it. More help on this will be under the score attack achievements which are the following:
- Blood on Your Hands
- Score!
Step 8: Challenge Mode
Challenge mode is new to Blazblue and is where you must do certain combos with each character. You must do 100 total challenges which will not be an easy task for any means. If you have the DLC characters, you will have to do seven challenges with each of them. Tips on how to complete these challenges will be under the related achievements. The following achievements can be obtained in Challenge mode:
- Superior State of Mind
- I Gnu It Was Ewe (Makoto DLC)
- On Her Ladyship's Secret Service (Valkenhayn DLC)
- By the Power of Trinity... (Platinum DLC)
Step 9: Mop-Up
The hard achievements are now over! It is now time to finish up any remaining achievements you may have left. Make sure you complete the gallery and do the miscellaneous things required for the other achievements. The achievements that may need to be completed in this step are as follows:
- Mint Condition
- Real Ultimate Power
- It'll Only Hurt for a Minute
- Don't Touch the Merchandise
- Hold on Loosely
- M.C. Hammer
- You Broke My Heart!
- Fatality
- The Better Part of Valor
Conclusion
Blazblue Continuum Shift is going to be a difficult and time-consuming completion because of certain achievements like Superior State of Mind, Score!, and Ding Ding!. However, a majority of the other achievements are not very hard. As long as you persevere and do not give up on getting the achievements, you should be able to get all of the achievements and a new completion!
