I quit this game a year or so ago, due to this mission... Everywhere you go, nades, nades, and more nades... Now that I've beaten Black Ops, I think I might go back thru and try to beat this level and the last level. Been a thorn in my side for a while now.

I've gotten so far as to see the 3rd anti tank gun, but alas nades and magic bullets somehow find me inside a building, with a roof, and walls, but yet somehow they still land at my feet...fuck you treyarch, fuck you. It would be one thing if the computer allies were any good. Fucking Reznov all he does is babble on and on stop the bleeding this and have no fear comrades. Man I'd like to shove my foot straight up his ass...anyway...now that my bitch fest is over, seems easiest way to do this is to go fast. Have 2 machine guns with you and cook grenades. As post #15 said, endless spawning germans, but once you get past one partyou just have to deal with the ones ahead of you if that's any consolation. I used the MP40 I pried from the cold han

I've been stuck on this mission for a long time. This is way harder than any other cod I've ever played, only because of the unlimited spawning of the germans and the fact that its raining grenades. I just got a checkpoint after I destroyed the first 2 enemy artillery things so does anyone else know an easy way to destroy the last 2. I get as far as destroying 1 of them but then I get killed by a random guy or grenade

Seriously treyarch is fucking retarded. Not to mention the AI is retarded. I dont know how many times I have been zeroed in and shot when there are at least 6 of my guys in front of me and all they are doing is having a circle jerk while other guys get past them. These designers need to see war first hand to realize how retarded they truly are. Medal of Honor Tier 1 was not even this hard and I honestly feel that was pretty realistic.

Wow, this certainly is a tough level. Here are the tips that helped me through.
1. The checkpoints are as follows: After blowing up first two anti-tank guns, after blowing up second two anti-tank guns, after you reach and pass the first barricade on the stairs, and you finish the level after you see the flag carrier get burned alive and run through the Reichstag door. Some of these checkpoints, if you're savvy, you can set them by just running to them.
2. Keep moving, but have patience. Find two good pieces of similar cover that you can alternate back and forth from while your allies move up. All these posts talk about how bad the allies are, but they are actually quite helpful as long as you let them catch up. Hard to do when it's raining grenades, I know. If you see your green arrows

are far behind you and you're in a red dot radar storm, give them time to kick butt, get on line, and fight for you. They'll do it. This is especially important after blowing the second AT gun. If you can make it to that room, just hole up and defend and your guys will eventually pass you up and provide cover. Hit the next AT gun on your left first followed by the one on the right.
3. Sick of getting killed off the start? Wait for the boys to take off, let the tank to your right blow up so you don't get collateral (you'll see them all stumble). Come over the hill and turn hard left and head for the back side of the first tank (Sasha's Chariot?) you see CLOSELY as mortars impact directly behind it. Follow this until it stops and dive to the center of the two stairs. Dispatch the MG to you

your right and immediately move behind that cover, pause to recover your stamina, and move to the next piece up and to your right. Turn and kill any Germans behind you now and your men should swarm over you. This can all be done in one smooth motion and avoids the "spawn kill" before you even get a chance, 9 out of 10 times.
4. I don't believe the anti-tank gun teams respawn, so once you've killed them off, patiently pick off the enemy that respawn, wait for your guys to catch up and start providing cover, and then hit your marks. Watch the red dots, when they all mostly go out, then they respawn in a wave as opposed to singly. Try to make your big moves between waves.
5. When going up the stairs at the end, when you hit that first line of cover make it to the far left barrels. Go prone,

as tight as you can to them, turn to the right stair wall, and shoot the bastard in the sand bag foxhole above. He's the biggest reason I kept dying on this. Once he's dispatched and the stairs are relatively clear, sprint up to the next row of cover, again staying left and prone. If you do this right, you can't get hit by grenades. Crawl as far forward as you can while staying behind cover. As you start killing bad guys from right to left (make sure that bunker guy is really dead), watch for the grenades and just move back and forth. You see, the grenades that go over you roll down the stairs and the ones that land short deflect off the sandbags. Shimmy away to be safe still, but this is money. Don't bother getting up from this spot to move forward. Eventually your guys will push forward

When down to the last two flak 88's, I cleared a path to the small brick bunker with the stair beside it. Once I got in there I would just run to the third flak 88 and shoot the team down and plant the explosives and go prone behind some cover. If you manage to run far enough ahead at certain points you can make advancements in the level before enemies spawn. Once you get the third one you can backtrack to the second without the infinte spawners, only the flak 88 team will be there.

I too feel the pain for this one. I am only done two guns and can't get to the bunker room. I counted 10 grenades on the ground at once! And I went back to get the Moltovs in the beginning and was still getting hit by bullets! I will keep trying, but who knows when I will get it. I did the "Mile High Club" in MW1 with less trouble! Although, there are infinite spawns and invisible gunners in WAW.

This is the most intense mission I've played on COD, and I've played 5 of the games now. It might be my favorite mission along with "heat" in COD4.
This is relatively easy for me now, so I thought I'd share the strat.
The enemies don't shoot you that quickly when you leave cover. It'll take a few shots before you're dead.
The grenades are there to keep you moving forward. The designers could have put in a countdown/time limit like in mile high club, but they chose to bombard you with grenades instead. The effect is the same, it keeps you moving forward.
To do this I figured out where I wanted to take cover. 5 or 6 different spots, each one slightly ahead of the one before. Take your first cover spot, shoot some enemies, reload, get health back, then WAIT for the grenades to com

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO ON THIS MISSION: when attacking the Reichstag and you have to eliminate the anti-tank guns. Have a tommy gun and a rifle. when you exit on the whistle, move forward a little and rifle what ever germans you can see, then move towards the small wall, take cover and again rifle, then run to the car in front of you- rifle. Change to tommy gun and go down the side of the wall on the right hand side, flank. Jump over the wall and take cover straight away, molotov and tommy gun any germans around the anti tank gun. It should be fairly easy to take out this gun on the right. When you set the charge- make your way back to the wall you jumped over (if you run out of molotov cocktails they are some in the tunnel where you started). Now the second gun on the left is the hardest;

To take out this gun keep changing from cover to cover, as soon as they grenade your location move down the steps and start again.
What you need to do is ADVANCE AND RETREAT. take out some germans, take up position and retreat- what this will do is trick your AI into thinking you have advanced, they will advance past the second gun, enabling you to set the charge. Take your time with this advance and retreat tactic, and remember to try and advance i little further each time.
Once you taken out that second gun retreat again and approach the building in the middle, there is a rifle in this building, use it to eliminate the germans around the third gun on the right and the building behind it. You should after some time be able to approach the gun and set the charge, retreat back into the

retreat back into the building, and out the way you came in.
You should now be able to approach the fourth gun on the right with great ease, be weary of any german stragglers around the gun, but it should be fairly undefended, blow it up.
Now advance forward on this left hand side, and cautiously attck the building on the left taking out the 2 germans on the second floor and the two inside the building - watch out for germans in the right building! (but as soon as you have cleared this building retreat as fast as possible) back into the middle building (where you attacked the third gun) and now you can slowly attack the building on the right without worrying about getting hit from the left. AGAIN ADVANCE AND RETREAT. Let your AI do their share of the work. On the second floor is a s

On the second floor is a sniper, get it and retreat to take out the germans in the windows of the reichstag, after doing this....advance and retreat bit by bit (make use of the wall on the far right out side the riechstag)- your men will progress up the steps....and you can safely walk inside the reichstag.
Just remember to advance little by little to trick you AI into thinking you have progressed onto the next part then retreat and repeat!

This game is so stupid. There is no realistic factor to it. You would think Veteran difficulty would mean that it is more realistic warfare with smarter enemies and tougher situations. No way an enemy is going to have that many grenades on them. There is no such thing as cover in the game. You try to find cover and the next thing you know 7 grenades are landing on top of you from all around. What is the point to all of this? I have gotten to this point pulling out all of the hair on my head along the way and I still don't feel accomplished at all. I HATE THIS GAME!!!!

When it comes to a true achievement, beating this level on Veteran Difficulty has to be the greatest gamer achievement I've ever won on any console in my 20 years of playing video games. I literally rage quit this game so many times on this level, suffered over a year of grief over this level and after somehow being able to complete "Downfall" on Veteran, I finally gave this one last try and finally, either by figuring it out better, or sheer luck, finally completed this level on veteran and when the screen went black, the achievement "For The Motherland" popped on on my screen. When that happened, I lieterally was like Rick Moranis at the end of Ghostbusters II but instead saying "I did it! I DID IT!! I BEAT HEART OF THE REICH ON VETERAN!!!!". Glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with this one. When attacking the big guns, I had the most trouble getting beyond the second one. After numberous attempts trying to look for an opening while killing germans, I ended up just making a run for the little building right before the other 2 guns, and I made it (surprise). After taking out the last 2 guns, I snuck around to take out the guys in the final buildings. Going up the stairs, I basically had to kill a guy and immediately advance- eventually made it.
I still indentify this as the 2nd hardest thing I've done in a game.

Best way it worked out for me was after taking out the first two anti air things, go and take out the 4th one (the further one from you) first, then go back through the building next to the stairs and get the 3rd one. Pretty easy after that, you can camp up in the buildings while your guys walk forward untill you have to walk up there with maybe 1 or 2 guys left

and last, the game seems to penalize you for taking to long. the way they do it is by throwing a shit ton of grenades. When i rushed, threw a molotov, got into cover and took out the first 3 i would run up to the next point and repeat. needed 2 molotovs for each checkpoint. kinda surprised i did this in a couple hours last night. Just did this. This level was definently one of the hardest levels I have had to complete on Veteran but I would say it wasn't the hardest I have ever had. The 4 88s are the hardest part of the game. I flew through until I had to destroy the 4. Just take it slow but keep moving around. Grenades are terrible in this level but try and figure out where the points in the levels are that will move up your AI. That was a big help! You can use the tank right when you are going for the 2nd 88 as cover to speed up and get your AI to come forward. The end where you had to wait for the pillar to fall took me about an hour. That was extremely hard. Like really really really hard! I just couldnt up to the part where it triggered the column falling. Very happy to see achievement pop!
