There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Capture all your opponent's pieces in Classic Chess (Single Player).

In order to unlock this achievement all you need to do is win a Classic Chess game by taking out all of your opponent's peices apart from the King. To do this select "Single Player" from the Main Menu and choose "Classic Chess". Next, select "Single Game" and set the game type to "Rated". Your best bet for this achievement is to make Stanley (The monkey) your opponent as he is exteremaly easy to beat and very rarely takes any of your peices. Once you take the last peice from your opponent (not the king), the achievement will unlock.
  • Win 1 game (Single Player).

You will most likely unlock this achievement in the same game that you unlock "Annihilator". Just make sure that you win the game before a statlemate occurs or you run out of time.
  • Win 1 game (Single Player) in less than 5 minutes (personal time).

Personal time is the time taken during your turn and it is displayed in the top-left corner of the screen next to your gamer picture. First, set up a new game with regular time (10 minutes per game) and ensure that you beat your opponent before your personal time hits 5 minutes. I recommend that you set Stanley (the monkey) as your opponent again because it will make this a lot easier. You should first enter a practice game and try to come up with a good strategy that will enable you to beat your opponent quickly. Once the game ends the achievement will unlock.
  • Champ

    25

Defeat a chess personality with an ELO rating of 1000 or more.

This achievement is a lot easier than it looks because it can be unlocked while in "Practice Mode". Simply start a new game and set your oponent to anyone who has a rating of over 1000. Once the game begins, press or to open up the Actions Menu, go down to the third option "Hint" and this will tell you where to move next. Follow it's instuctions for every move and you will unlock the achievement in no time.
  • Play 20 online games.

Just as the achievement says, play twenty games online. To start playing online, chose "Multiplayer" from the Main Menu and select "Xbox Live" followed by "Ranked Match". Now, you can either choose to host your own game or join somebody else's. You do not have to win these games but just to be sure that they register it is best to finish them. Once you complete the twentieth game the achievement will unlock.
  • Achieve an online rating of 1200 in any type of chess.

I can't exactly explain how to get it as this is the one I'm still missing myself. I can easily get around 850-910 ELO in "Losing Chess". Most people don't understand this game type. (See instruction guide in-game) Set the clock in a ranked game as hour glass, 30 seconds. Now make a few moves and the other person (assuming they don't understand the game) will probably get stuck and their time will run out. After you get to a certain rank, the people with a 600 rating won't give you anymore points. So, if you can't find another game to get it legit, this may be one of those boosting achievements. Also, I've heard that after you get around 5 losses in any game type, it's harder to gain/lose rating
  • Complete 30 puzzles.

To begin a puzzle game, select "Single Player" from the Main Menu and choose "Chess Puzzles". This achievement requires you to complete thirty challenges but it does not mention that you can keep replaying the same challenge over and over again. Your best option would be to select the first puzzle "Hung Piece" and complete it thirty times. All you need to do for that challenge is to take the unprotected peice from your opponent. You don't lose anything if you fail, so just keep trying until you beat it thirty times.
  • Win 1 online game in all chess variants.

Win one Classic, Dark, Losing, Progressive and Extinction Chess Game online, ranked or unranked. (Thank You IGC ELIMINATER17)
  • Master

    25

    Win 20 games (Single Player).

In order to unlock this achievement you will need to win twenty Classic Chess, Single Player games. If you are inexperienced at chess, I advise you to play against Stanley (the monkey) as he is the easiest opponent in the game. Once you win twenty times, the achievement will unlock.
  • Win 10 ranked online games.

For this achievement you will need to win ten "Ranked" online matches. To do this choose "Multiplayer" from the Main Menu, select "Xbox Live" and set the game mode to "Ranked". Your best bet is to play whichever gametype you feel you are most skilled at and just keep at it until you win ten times. Alternatively, you and a friend could try and join the same match and boost for the achievement. To do this, one of you would need to host the game and the other would need to try and join.
  • Win online against a higher ranked player.

In order to gain this achievement you need to beat a player who has achieved a higher rank than you in online "Ranked Matches". There are two ways you could do this:

    1) Play normally and you will eventually come across a player who has a higher rank than you.

    Or

    2) Purposely lose all of your matches until your rank goes down. Now, all you need to do is beat somebody who is a higher rank than you, which should be almost everybody because you levelled down.

  • Play 100 games (Single Player).

For this achievement all you need to do is play one hundered Single Player games. This can be accomplished a lot quicker than it sounds because you do not need to play the full length of the game. First of all, start up a Single Player game of "Classic Chess" and once the game starts press to open the Pause Menu, go down to "Leave Game" and then press to resign from the game. This will still count as though you played the game. So, repeat this process one hundred times and the achievement will unlock.
