Introduction:
Every so often you run across a game where it seems like the developer just didn’t care. Dance Dance Revolution Universe 3 is one of those games. With 150 not achievable, 70 more that would take a level of skill ranging from good to god-like, load times that are almost as long as the actual song and a list of songs on the box that are not actually in the game, Konami and Bemani really showed their level of enthusiasm for the console version of the arcade mainstay. On the plus side, using the game with the dance mat is as much of a work out as any Wii game.

Step One: How To Play
Start by learning the basics and getting an achievement for doing so. Simple enough, though 22 different lessons with long load times is a bit much.

Step Two: Quest Mode
My hat goes off to you if you are going to try this with the dance mat, since some of the challenges are pretty hard. It is far easier to do this with a normal controller, and almost cheating doing it with a turbo controller. To get to the end of this, you will need to complete one challenge in each street, earn enough money to complete the first challenge in each club and then clear Universe Tower. On the plus side, for knocking off the dancer in each club and each level of the tower, you unlock a song, meaning that if you clear every club challenge and every level of the tower, you will unlock all of the songs. If you get stuck at any point, bring along a back up dancer (reward for beating the second challenge in a club), as that increases the movement on the dance meter at the top. If you are still having trouble, use a turbo controller, or turn your controller into one by bashing all four buttons simultaneously as fast as you can, since there is no penalty for over hitting a note or turning a one foot note into a two (or four) foot note. You need tremendous forearm endurance to be able to pull this off for an Oni Full Combo, though.

Step Three: Game Mode
If you did actually manage to unlock all the songs in Quest Mode, then most of the game mode achievements should be simple. Pass every song on Basic to get the Clear all Songs achievement, and every one along the way, and you will probably net a Grade A, Grade AA and Full Combo along the way. Repeat some easy songs to get the full combo on Beginner, Difficult, Expert and Oni (the guide below has a few suggestions) and then try for a Grade AAA. This is the only achievement in the game that a turbo controller will not help you with since Grade AAA requires precision as opposed to accuracy.

Step Four: Outfit Grinding
You will not be able to get every outfit in the game, so don’t even try. You will be able to unlock most of the outfits by completing the street and club challenges, winning the battles that come up every so often, and so on. You will need to earn a lot of money to purchase the outfits, so find a street challenge in Quest Mode that doesn’t take much time and gives you some decent money (I recommend the second challenge in the first street). Stop at 200 male and 200 female outfits, since you cannot get all of them.

Step Five: Complete All Street Challenges
This is not going to be achievable for most people, since you need to complete some pretty hard challenges with a lot of different handicaps. If you had any trouble with any part of this game, I would suggest not bothering with this achievement, since the full 1000 is not obtainable anyway.

Unobtainable Achievements:
As mentioned before, three achievements are absolutely unobtainable in this game. One of the club challenges has a glitched timing window that makes it impossible to pass without cheating. Because you can’t pass this club challenge, you can’t unlock the final outfits, meaning that the achievements for Completing all Club Challenges and Purchasing all Male and Female Outfits are not obtainable under any legal circumstances. If you have any achievements in this game, kiss the possibility of a 100% completion rate goodbye.

Conclusion:
Despite all the problems, DDRU3 is kind of fun, but sheer hell for a completionist. If you are happy settling for 750-850, though, you can easily get 750 with no skill and a turbo controller.

Clear all the songs! (Not including Download Content songs.)
By passing a song with a grade higher than an E (AAA, AA, A, B, C, D) you will have cleared the song. You must play the song on Basic, Difficult, Expert, or Oni. Beginner doesn't count. This only counts songs you clear in Game Mode. An easy way to see which songs you have cleared is to go into Game Mode, and see if there are any letter grades next to any of the difficulties on a song. As long as it's higher than an E, you've cleared it. This includes songs that are locked at the beginning of the game, so you will need to unlock all the hidden songs before you can clear them.
First full combo on Beginner5
Pull off a full combo on Beginner!
Just hit every arrow on any Beginner level difficulty song in Game Mode.
First full combo on Basic10
Pull off a full combo on Basic!
Hit every arrow on any Basic level difficulty song in Game Mode. Most songs on Light will still be easy to Full Combo but songs that will be the easiest are Return of the Machines, Time To Move, Kimochi, murmur twins. They are all 2 footers and have easy beats to follow.
First full combo on Difficult20
Pull off a full combo on Difficult! (1)
Hit every arrow on any Difficult level difficulty song in game mode. Easier songs to Full Combo on Difficult are Return of the Machines, Dancin My Way, Senses. These are all 4 footers.
First full combo on Expert20
Pull off a full combo on Expert! (1)
Hit every arrow on any Expert level difficulty song in Game Mode. This is where things will start to get harder, but there are a lot of Expert songs that are easier than Difficult songs. I recommend using Return of The Machines, 30 Lives, Once Upon A Time. Once Upon a Time is the only song that is a 5 footer on Expert and will probably be your best bet.
First full combo on Oni50
Pull off a full combo on Oni! (1)
Hit every arrow on any Oni level difficulty song in Game Mode. Not every song has an Oni difficulty, particularly the slower songs. The easiest songs on Oni are 9 footers. This will take some skill to acquire. The easiest Oni song is probably Kind Lady. If that doesn't work, try one of the other 9's and if that still doesn't work, then practice till it does!
First grade A10
Get a first grade A!
This can be done on any song, on any difficulty and will require a score between 900,000-949,999. You can miss a few arrows and still get a grade A.
First grade AA30
Get a first grade AA!
This can be done on any song, any difficulty, and will require a score between 950,000-989,999. Try using easier songs if you are having trouble scoring high. You must FC the song in order to get a grade AA.
First grade AAA50
Get a first grade AAA!
This can be done on any song, any difficulty, and will require a score of 990,000-1,000,000. This will usually require that you Full Combo the song and get a very small amount of Greats (under 5). Easier to do on Basic.

The best way to unlock these is by playing through the quest mode. Every club challenge will unlock a song if you knock out your opponent. There are 32 challenges altogether plus the Universe Tower so you will unlock every song in the game by completing the Quest Mode. Songs can also be unlocked by clearing "X" amount of songs through Game Mode, but completing Quest Mode will kill two birds with one stone. It is also easier on Quest Mode as you must defeat your opponent as opposed to nearly FCing the song in Game Mode.
Finish HOW TO PLAY10
Clear all the challenges in HOW TO PLAY!
This will require you to go in to How to Play mode from the main menu and complete the 22 lessons on How to Play the game. Easy enough.

This will take a very long time to get! You are going to have to complete as many street challenges as you can, and as many clubs as you can, as well as compete with every dancer who appears. You will then have to repeat that cycle over and over. These can be very tedious so be prepared to test your patience. You unlock new outfits for purchase as you complete challenges.
Clear all Streets10
Clear all the Streets in QUEST MODE!
There is a total of 16 Streets. Complete 1 challenge on each street for this achievement.
Complete all Street challenges20
Complete all the Streets in QUEST MODE!
There is a total of 16 Streets in Quest Mode with 3 challenges per street. You must complete each of these challenges on every street. This might take you some time since the challenges are really difficult.

Clear all Clubs40
Clear all Clubs in QUEST MODE!
There are 32 clubs spread throughout Quest Mode. Each one has a specific challenge. By completing a challenge once, you complete the club. You do not need to defeat the opponent in the club, just finish the song with a win.
Complete all Club challenges50
Complete all Clubs in QUEST MODE! (1)
After you complete each Club once, you must go back to each Club and complete a second Challenge at that club to completely beat it. It is currently believed that this impossible due to a problem in a timing window in one of the challenges that makes it impossible to pass.
Clear Universe Tower50
Clear Universe Tower in QUEST MODE! (1)
Complete a challenge on each street and every club once, and you will be able to take on the Universe Tower. The tower has 5 floors. Once you beat Simba on the top floor, you will have unlocked every song in the game and you will earn this achievement.
