Introduction
Welcome to Dance Dance Revolution, a game that really requires no introduction. This is the fourth DDR game on the 360, the first that is not a Universe title, and definitely the easiest of the bunch in terms of achievements. There are a few that seem daunting, like those for getting 100 AA and AAA ranks, but the timing window in this game is really generous so even those shouldn't pose too much of a challenge.

Step 1: Getting Started
First, select WORKOUT PROFILE from the main menu and switch ACTIVATE CALORIE COUNT to ON. You need this setting enabled for the calorie burning achievements. Second, knock out the HOW TO PLAY, TRAINING MODE, and DANCE OFF related achievements. You could leave these for the end but you might as well get them out of the way.

Step 2: Complete Club Mode
From the main menu select CLUB MODE then select OTHER CLUBS, which is the only option available when you first start. The goal is to completely fill up the bar here and unlock songs in the process. You should attempt CLUB MASTER and 1000 COMBO! early on, else you're making your job a lot harder. You can complete this mode with a turbo controller if you have one, see TRICK MASTER for details.

Step 3: Free Play
Now that you have unlocked all the songs, select FREE PLAY MODE from the main menu. This is where you'll be spending a lot of your time as you have 100 songs you need to AAA rank, a number of songs you'll need to beat on Expert difficulty, as well as a number of miscellaneous achievements for doing things like beating songs using specific settings. This is the most difficult step.

Step 4: Cleanup
This step mostly means going back to Club Mode and maxing the song status for each song in the game, though if there are any miscellaneous achievements left you can do those as well. This is the most time consuming step as, even though you've already completed Club Mode, most songs are probably only level 1 of 6, maybe level 2. Again you can turbo, but at some point certain songs will stop appearing and you will have to play yourself.

Conclusion
While this is the easiest DDR in terms of achievements, it still isn't a cake walk, so if you've managed 1000 then congratulations are in order, you've earned it.

[x360a would like to thank dakisbac for this roadmap]

FIRST PERFECT FULL COMBO10
You pulled off a PERFECT FULL COMBO!

All the FULL COMBO (<difficulty>) achievements require is that you hit all notes in the song, meaning that every note you hit gets a Good, Great, or Perfect rating and that all freeze arrows are held for their entirety. These achievements do not stack so you will have to perform a full combo once per difficulty.

A great full combo is a full combo where your lowest rating is a Great, and a perfect full combo is, as you might guess, a full combo of only Perfect ratings. Difficulty does not matter for these two achievements so Beginner is the obvious choice. These two achievements do not stack with each other, however they do stack with the FULL COMBO (<difficulty>) achievements.

If at any point you missed your rating on a step you need only look at the color of your streak counter, as it's color reflects the worst rating you've received in that streak. Only Perfect ratings means your counter will be yellow, a single Great will change the color to green, and a single Good will change the color to blue.

For FULL COMBO (CHALLENGE) also note that Challenge difficulty is not available for all songs. For a list of on-disc songs with Challenge difficulty see CHALLENGER

CHAIN CHAIN CHAIN10
In a single song, you've managed to rack up 3 CHAIN ARROW BONUSES.

Chain Arrows are a sequence of flashing arrows that appear in set locations of the step chart. To get the bonus you must hit all the arrows in the sequence, and to get this achievement you must do this three times in one song. You can do this on any song on any difficulty.

TRIGGER 530
On EXPERT or higher, in the course of a single song you've launched GROOVE TRIGGER 5 times. (1)

To even attempt this achievement you have to be able to play the song basically perfect because you need to fill up your Groove Gauge 100% before you can use Groove Trigger. Even then you might not get it because there might not be enough steps in the song to fill your bar five times. Play higher BPM songs to avoid that problem. Activate Groove Trigger on the mat by stepping on a diagonal direction or on the controller by flicking in any direction.

Note: you can cheat at this if you have someone to help you. Even in single play, the game takes input from all four controllers so you can make it a team effort. If so inclined, you and three other people could work it so there is one person per direction.

SUDDEN DANCER10
You've cleared a song on DIFFICULT or higher with the arrows' APPEARANCE set to SUDDEN.

HIDDEN DANCER10

High Scorer10
You've got a score of 1,500,000 or higher.

For this you will need to perform fairly well, but the important things are the Chain Arrow and Groove Trigger bonuses. You can do this on any song on any difficulty.

FIRST AAA20
You've achieved a rank of AAA.

Ranks are based off your base score, which is your total score minus any points from Chain Arrow or Groove Trigger bonuses. The maximum base score is 1,000,000 points, which is what you get with all Perfect ratings. Ranks are determined as follows:

AAA: 990,000-1,000,000
AA: 950,000-989,999
A: 900,000-949,999
B: 800,000-899,999
C: 700,000-799,999
D: Quit or Fail

These achievements do not stack, meaning you will have to earn all ranks separately.

See CLUB MASTER

NEWCOMER10
You've attained the rank of NEWCOMER in CLUB MODE.

See CLUB MASTER

CLUB MASTER20
You've attained the rank of CLUB MASTER in CLUB MODE.

These achievements correspond to ranks you get at the end of songs in Free Play Mode.

Club Master = AAA: (990,000-1,000,000)X
Superstar = AA: (950,000-989,999)X
Lead Dancer = A: (900,000-949,999)X
Back Dancer = B: (800,000-899,999)X
Newcomer = C: (700,000-799,999)X
Trainee = D: Quit or Fail

where X is the number of songs you play.

You will want to go for this achievement early, partially because you will not have unlocked some of the more difficult songs, but mostly because as you play songs you start to level up their song status, and higher song status means harder tricks the game will throw at you to make you fail. It goes without saying that, unless you're a masochist, you will want to play only 4 songs when going for Superstar or Club Master.

Luck is a factor in Club Mode, not only because the songs you play are random but the tricks are as well, and when going for Club Master your luck could make or break you. If a trick has moved you up to Basic before the end of the first song, you're almost certainly better off quitting and trying again. You can slightly control the tricks by intentionally performing poorly, but clearly that's not an option when going for Club Master, which requires roughly 90% Perfect, however I have found that activating Groove Trigger about 60% towards your next trick will often prevent any sort of trick occurring.

SUPERSTAR 10
You've attained the rank of SUPERSTAR in CLUB MODE.

See CLUB MASTER

DANCE MASTER30
With the number of songs set to 20, you've cleared OTHER CLUBS in CLUB MODE.

Simply change the number of songs to 20 then play all the way through. This will take ~45 minutes.

TRAINEE10
You've attained the rank of TRAINEE in CLUB MODE.

See CLUB MASTER

1000 COMBO! 10
You've racked up 1,000 or more combos in CLUB MODE.

This is probably the hardest achievement in the game.

Getting a 1000 step streak in club mode is difficult only because difficulty increases as you play and the game will throw tricks at you in an attempt to make you fail. Instead of listing out the various tricks the game can throw at you I will just emphasize that, like with CLUB MASTER, it is best to go for this achievement early, before you start increasing song statuses, as level 1 tricks are hardly a hindrance (in some cases, actually helpful) and level 6 tricks can definitely cause you to fail, especially if you've moved up to Expert or Challenge.

Ideally you want your difficulty to remain in the Basic/Difficult range and the tricks infrequent, and you can make it so. You can often skip a trick by activating Groove Trigger around 60% the way to your next trick, however I found that since difficulty changes count as tricks you should aim to alternate difficulties. This is easily accomplished by hitting (almost) all Perfect ratings to move up a difficulty, and by getting a lot of Good and Great ratings to move back down. Doing it this way will definitely cause you to break your streak on your own as you will invariably miss a note while attempting for a Good, but on the whole it's preferable to always going for Perfects and hoping the tricks don't screw you.

BILLIONAIRE20
You've scored 1,000,000,000 or more in CLUB MODE.

In OTHER CLUBS, set the number of songs to 20 and do your best. This shouldn't prove to be difficult as you can easily pass 12 billion points by the end, and that's without activating Groove Trigger.

Secret Achievements

FULL COMBO (CHALLENGE)30
You pulled off a FULL COMBO with difficulty set to CHALLENGE.

See FIRST PERFECT FULL COMBO

CHALLENGER30
You've unlocked the CHALLENGE difficulty level on every song (excluding downloaded songs).

To unlock Challenge difficulty on a song you need to pass it on Expert. The following on-disc songs have Challenge difficulty:

  • Bad Romance
  • Hey, Soul Sister
  • I'm Yours
  • Love Shack
  • My Life Would Suck Without You
  • Venus
  • We Are Family
  • A Geisha's Dream (Ruffage Remix)
  • Curry Up
  • DOUBLE TORNARD
  • dreaming can make a wish come true
  • ever snow
  • IN THE ZONE
  • Let's Get Away
  • MAGIC PARADE
  • One Sided Love
  • Private Eye
  • Rescue Me
  • Rhythms Inside
  • Share The Love
  • The Island Song
  • TIME
  • Top The Charts
  • TSUGARU (APPLE MIX)
  • Wicked Plastik
  • MAX 300
  • CRAZY<3LOVE
  • New York EVOLVED

Songs in bold need to be unlocked in Club Mode first. New York EVOLVED is the last song unlocked in Club Mode so you need to complete Club Mode before you can get this achievement.

ULTIMATE DANCER30
You've cleared a song on DIFFICULT or higher with the arrows' APPEARANCE set to STEALTH.

For these achievements you need to go into Free Play mode, open the Quick Menu with , then go into Dance Options and change the settings according to which achievement you want to work on. None of the settings you need to use really make things too difficult, but you can always play a lower BPM song and try to memorize the chart.

Note: if you have a second controller you can cheat at this by playing Multi Player, applying the required settings to your controller only, and then playing off the second controller's step chart.

BURNING 500050
You've racked up a total of 5,000 or more kcal burned.

* These achievements require the dance mat as the game doesn't count calories when using a controller *

First, select WORKOUT PROFILE from the main menu and switch ACTIVATE CALORIE COUNT to ON.

If you intend on playing the game with the dance mat then read no further - you will unlock these while going for the other achievements.

If you're looking to knock these out of the way then this is very easy - all you have to do is mash the mat as fast as possible, with the help of a friend if possible. Focusing on hitting just two arrows as fast as possible, depending on the song length you can easily burn ~250 calories in just one song. So if you have a friend handy that's ~500 calories per song, so 10 songs total for this achievement.

TRICK MASTER50
You've got the SONG STATUS to the max for every song in CLUB MODE (excluding downloaded songs).

This is only possible after you have unlocked all songs in the game, which is done by completely filling up the club mode bar in OTHER CLUBS. That is moreorless a matter of playing the game a lot, though performing well contributes also. This one achievement accounts for almost all the time required for completing this game.

While you're filling up the club mode bar and unlocking songs, you will also slowly level up the song status for each song you play. As the song status increases for the songs, club mode will throw harder and harder tricks at you in an attempt to cause you to fail. Though you can fill up the club mode bar by playing 4 song sets over and over, you will only ever play a small subset of songs (the easy songs) and never level up any of the others. That said, you should always play a 20 song set.

If you have a turbo controller you may be in luck. I say 'may' because, unlike the other DDR games on the 360, full turbo will not get you all Great and Perfect ratings; you will in fact fail. If you have a controller that turbos "slowly", like the Hori Pad EX2, you will still occasionally fail but for the most part you can scrape by and have club mode play itself.

Caution: you can turbo almost all the songs to max status, however at some point some of the hardest songs may stop appearing and you will have to play yourself. The problem is that these songs only appear when you are doing very well, so if you turbo every other song to max status you will make it much harder for yourself - it is very possible you will fail before the song you need shows up, which is typically song 12/20 at the earliest. After turboing all other songs to max status, these four songs were incomplete for me:

  • Max 300 (~80% complete)
  • Until the End (~80% complete)
  • Crazy Heart Love (~80% complete)
  • New York Evolved (~60% complete)
SONG COLLECTOR50
You've unlocked all the hidden songs.

See TRICK MASTER

AAA COLLECTOR50
You've got 100 or more ranks of AAA or above in RECORDS.

I've directed a lot of the achievements here as this should be your only goal - if you accomplish this you will have accomplished all other tasks on the way.

First, note that there are only 50 songs available on disc. Ranks are counted separately across difficulties, meaning that you can get four (or five) AAA ranks PER SONG. You could do this by getting AAA ranks for all 50 songs on Beginner and Basic, but it's actually easier to do many of the easier songs on Difficult as well.

At the very minimum, you should be able to full combo (almost) every song on (almost) every difficulty. A full combo will guarantee you an A rank and, with chain arrow bonuses, a score over 1 million so don't worry about those achievements. The AA and AAA ranks, however, are all about your step rating. Though a full combo isn't actually required for an AAA rank, realistically you need to be able to perform a great full combo on every song as you need 90% Perfect ratings for your AAA.

You may find it helpful to go into Dance Options (Quick Menu with > Dance Options) and change the ARROW setting to NOTE and GUIDELINES to ON.

Once you have fulfilled the requirements for any of the achievements, you unlock them by viewing your records. You can view your records from the main menu and selecting RECORDS or through Quick Menu > Records.

MILLIONAIRE 10050
You've got 100 or more scores of at least 1,000,000 in RECORDS.
