Defeat the Four Kings

Defeat the Four Kings, inheritors of souls.

The Four Kings are located in the New Londo Ruins. In order to even face them, you must defeat the Great Wolf Sif and obtain the Ring of Abysswalking. Next, you need to drain the water in New Londo ruins and obtain the key to uncover the boss area. You will know the boss area because it is a broken tower with a fog door. Inside this tower appears to be nothing but a staircase down. Before reaching the end of the stairs, equip the Ring of Abysswalking and jump into the Oblivion. After falling for a while you will reach the bottom and find the Four Kings.

There are a few ways to defeat the four kings. The best way to defeat them appears to out damage them. Once you reach the abyss, you will have to wait a few seconds before they appear, then charge at them and give it all you got. Their attacks are very powerful but can be blocked. They also have a strong grapple attack that you need to watch out for.

After receiving the Lordvessel, head to New Londo. On the way look for some corpses in large jars. Break them and pick up the item, Transient Curse. Before making it across the second bridge over the water use the Transient Curse to fight off the ghosts and banshees.

After a ways, you'll cross a bridge and get attacked by ghost below you. Straight up run to the nest building and find the chimney inside. Walk up the ladder and talk to the Sealer. He also can remove curses. If you have the Lordvessel, he'll give you the Key of the Seal. Proceed through the area and unlock the gate to the crank mechanism.

After draining New Londo, the fog gate can be seen and found easily. Just be wary of Darkwraiths. They hit hard and fast and can also steal your humanity points.

To add to what RasenSangetsu said, you must first aquire the "Covenant of Artorias" ring. This ring allows you to traverse the Abyss (see 'Art of Abyss Walking' achievement). You get this ring from killing Sif.

Once you have gone through the fog gate, procede down the spiral stairs. There comes a part where the stairs will suddenly stop. Now equip the ring, and drop down to fight The Four Kings. If you are not wearing the ring, you will simply die as you would from any other huge fall.

Just an FYI. The Darkwraiths found in this area drop Titanite Slabs for upgrading. The drop rate is VERY RARE so having a humanity of 30 and wearing the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring are highly recommended.

Hardest Boss battle in this game, i recommend tanking the crap out of it with Havel's Armor or the Stone Set and use Black Knight 2h or Lighting spear for NG, and Lighting Spear +5 or Gravelord Servant Sword +5 for NG+. I didn't have to use iron flesh the first playthrough, but i recommended using it the second playthrough and going through this battle alone unless you really need the help.

^ That's what I did. Harvel's set, Witch NPC to the far right of the fog door near a cliff (She needs to be summoned near the butterfly battle first for her to appear, I believe) and iron flesh, toe-to-toe.

The Stone Knight armour is good for this i don't know if it's better but i know stone nights good. if you have enough humanity one of the knights will eventually drop the shield in the Darkroot garden, as for the armour join the forest clan and meet with Shiva of the east at the bottom of Blightown

Just make sure that whatever weapon you're using you will be able to deal high damage as you want to be as fast as possible with this boss so that you will only have to fight one king at a time. This fight isn't one of those where you want to bait a certain attack or only approach from a certain angle.

I'm level 66 and feel really outclassed. I've not been very smart with my upgrades so I need the support. Message me if you want to help me out.

Divine does best damage against them (for melee). Soloed on NG+++ by using Crysyal homing soulmass (25 int, so only 4 of them) and loading up on magic resist gear. Was doing ~719 if all 4 hit. Took 23 casts, but some were misses. Earlier runs proved fire does decent damage (but need to be close), Lightning was ok but didnt have enough casts, and Wrath of God was a pleasure (double or triple up the damage, but gotta have a few on you at once and can get overwhelmed).
Important notes:
Most of their damage is magic, not physical. Dingy or painting guardian armor prefered, crest shield is best.
They will continue to spawn until the boss is dead, not until you kill 4. Could be fighting 8 or more if you cant out-damage their spawn rate.
More assist (like Witch B) will increase their health
