The story continues! They thought they had escaped the terrors of Banoi and survived the apocalypse on a corrupted paradise. Then their fate took a turn for the worse…
The Dead Island heroes escaped in a helicopter to the safety of a military ship, but when a furious storm hits and the virus suddenly spreads throughout the crew, the nightmare starts all over again, leaving hope drowning in the rising tides.
Step 1: Campaign
Recommend to start the campaign in co-op. This will limit the amount of playthroughs needed to get all achievements. Refer to the Achievement Trading Thread, to find a co-op partner if needed.
If playing solo you will be able to obtain all achievements, minus the ones that require co-op. Also stocking up on med-kits, conserving ammo and using blueprints to create better/stronger helps a lot while playing solo. Mack use of the fast travel system to get around the map quickly and safely.
As stated above. Recommend playing trough the game in co-op. Playing through the game in co-op at least once will give you "Dream Team" & "It's an Order". Playing the game in co-op will give you an enjoyable and much better experience. And the extra help doesn't hurt either. Always stick together and have each others backs... Unless you like watching your friend get ambushed and destroyed by hoards of zombies like me... Mack use of the fast travel system to get around the map quickly and safely.
While playing through the game, either solo or co-op, there are two real missable achievements: "Serving Science" & "First Do No Harm". Refer to each achievement below for more information.
Step 2: Clean Up
Once you have completed the campaign. You can return to the island and continue to explore. This will be a good time to get and kill related achievement and any collectible related achievements you might have missed during your journey. Mack use of the fast travel system to get around the map quickly and safely.
Dead Island Riptide brings back the explosive mix of open-world gameplay, co-op first-person action and RPG elements. Dead Island Riptide is enjoyable and not a challenging 1000.

* If you import your character from Dead Island, and your character is at level 50 or higher. Then you will unlock "Obtain level 50" when you either use the first med-kit you find during the first main quest 'The Storm' or when you defeat your first encounter with a zombie also during the first main quest 'The Storm'.
To reach level 70 you will need 24,396,500 XP. If you start a new character chances are you will finish the game around level 50-55. Meaning you will have to start a new game+ or play with friends. You can also use one of the many XP farming methods; canned foods, blades, bleach, pain killers.
Click HERE to view a few XP & money farming methods.
The earliest you can get this is during the first hub defense you do. When you meet the rest of the crew after you land on the island. You will need to set up 5 fences to keep the zombies from attacking you. Once all 5 fences have been set up, you will need to defend yourself from the horde. Simply let the horde break down each fence and put the fences back up.
If you missed this the first time around. Don't worry will get a few other opportunity. Second opportunity is during the main quest 'Stalwart Defense', again during 'Terminal Siege', and again during 'Evacuation'.
*Warning: This achievement has been reported as glitched for some. The tracker will stop at 60/61 collectibles. Not sure why this happens or how to fix it. As of right now it looks like you will have to start a new game and collecting them all again or join a buddies game.
There are a total of 61 collectibles. To check what "#" collectible you have, press and roll over to your Inventory, then press a few times until you reach the collectibles tab.
All collectibles carry over between playthroughs and characters so you can't really miss any. As soon as you pick one up it'll save and you will never have to pick it up again. You can't miss anything. As long as you don't accept the Main Quest 'With The Tide' (which the game will tell you its the point of NO return), you can go and do what you have missed.
The Twins are located at the Palai Ferry Station. The first Twin you will encounter shortly after getting out the tunnels and reaching the beach. The second Twin is located in a storage warehouse, to the right of the ferry station. To get accesses inside you will need to climb up the billboard and pick up all the items inside the truck bed. After doing so, the doors to the storage warehouse will open and a few zombies will come out and also the second Twin will be inside.
Now if the second Twin is not in the storage warehouse the first time. Wait a few hours or complete a quest or two, and then come back to the storage warehouse and try it again.
Every so often you will encounter a group of survivors getting attacked by zombies. Wait around until a survivor starts to get over whelm by a zombie. A circle will appear over the NPCs head. Simply rush over and knock the zombie away from the survivor. Do this 19 more times.
This does not have to be done on 20 different NPCs, it can be done with the same ones.
*Warning: This achievement is a little glitched. Follow the video & description below to get this.
A great place to get explosive mines is on the rooftop of the "Old Town Cinema" in Henderson. They will keep respawning in chapter 13, so you can farm as many as you want.
Once you have an explosive mine, go to the Ferry Station. Gather up a group of 10 zombies and jump on a car so they cannot hit you. Just shoot around to get their attention. Wait until 10 zombies are in one spot and start killing them. You may not dismember them with bladed weapons! Use guns or blunt weapons, their bodies have to stay intact. Leave one zombie alive and let it trigger the mine. The explosion has to destroy 10 bodies, no matter if these bodies are alive or dead. Of course you can also plant the mine while the ten zombies are still moving, but the blast might not destroy all bodies. It's safer to kill them first.
You can throw just about every melee weapon in the game, beside brass knuckles.
To throw a melee weapon hold to aim & lock ON and then press to throw your weapon. I found that throwing blades to a lot more damage and is almost an instant kill. Also would recommend to damage the zombie(s) first before throwing your melee weapon. You can pick up the weapon you have thrown at the zombie, and keep thrown it.
Kick is a slandered ability for all characters. To preform a kick press , be careful, kicks cost stamina. Recommend weakening the zombies first and knocking them onto the ground. Then start kicking away.
Also purchasing the ability to stomp zombie heads, pressing while the zombie is knocked down, will save you a lot of trouble. This ability is on every character and is located in the middle skill tree.
You will get a main quest mission early in the game called 'New Beginnings'. During this mission you need to locate a motor to attach it to a boat. Once you have done that, drive around the river and hold to use the boats boost. It is an instant kill. You will roughly be able to kill 40 - 50 zombies in the water. You can either reload last checkpoint or continue your game play and come back to the river at a later time and drive a boat around again.
Charge is a new ability for all the characters, located in the middle skill tree. To preform a charge attack, hold to run and then press . Charge is not a very effective move. So weakening the zombies first will make this a lot easier.
The earliest time you can get a chainsaw is during the side quest 'Genre: Horror Slasher', from Dave in Makat Village, on top of a submerged trailer. The quest will bring you to a Dead Zone, with 6 zombies inside. The chainsaw is located at the end of the ally, where you turn off the generator.
The chainsaw damages easily, even when fully upgraded. Best thing to do is slightly tap to attack.
Also after the 'Militarized Zone' main quest. You will see a survivor, Nora, who needs help on top of one the towers. Kill the surrounding zombies and she will let you purchase Military equipment. One of those equipment is a chainsaw.
There are 13 dead zones located on the island. Below is a list and the locations of the 13 dead zones. To keep track of which ones you have defeated, go to Quests, then scroll down to your completed Side Quests. There should be 12 "Defeat ..." quests completed (the Orge is tied to a main quest). From here you can easily work out what you're missing.
1. James Nisira’s Bungalow – James “Kille”r Nisira
You can find James in his Bungalow in the Oil Storage area a little down the road from Paradise Survival Camp.
2. Halai Villiage– Joe “Ogre” Somare
When you go to save the local hero, Marcus you’ll find Joe the butcher here, so you can’t miss him as he is part of the main quest.

Down the lower right in Halai Villiage is the Ocean View Bungalows dead zone
4. Jimmy O’neils cave – Jimmy “Deathtrap” O’neil
Jimmy’s cave is up north and a little bit to the right of the Helicopter Wreck on the map.
5. Peter Spicer’s Shack – Peter “the Undying” W. Spicer
Just head a little left of where Jimmy’s cave was and you’ll find Pete’s shack here in the Breri Outpost.
6. Olivier Weng’s Hideout – Olivier “Deathbone” Wenge
Oliver’s little hideout is just down the road from Pete’s shack directly up north in the middle of the map. You’ll see a dirt road that goes up to a cave where you’ll find him.
7. Frankie O’Hara’s Apartment – Frankie “The Scourge” O’Hara
Frankie’s apartment is just a little up north from the Old Town Cinema on the map. You can actually grab this when you are heading down when you first get to Henderson
8. Metzger Sloat’s Hideout – Metzger “Skullcrusher” Sloat
This one is the next building south between the Church and Old Cinema.
9. Geoffrey Nape’s Warehouse – Geoffrey “Walking Carcass” Nape
Geoffrey’s warehouse is about middle left on the map and just south of the military entrance.
10. DR. JJ Evan’s Clinic – Doctor “Scar” J J Evans
This is just a little farther south of Geffrey’s warehouse. Just keep yourself near the west wall and walk down to find his clinic.
11. George Serero’s Apartment – George “Body Eater” Serero
Just keep heading down south of the wall from the clinic because you’ll find his apartment right after another dead zone entrance.
12. BJoel Chubalba’s motel – Joel “Blackheart” Chubalba
You’ll find the motel south and to the left. It is west of the sea market on the left side, so you can’t miss as it is the only entrance in that area.
13. Ogio Moke’s Laundry – Ogio “Blindspot” Moke
This entrance is on the bottom right of the map just a little up north near the entry point for the helicopter crash in Henderson.
This is not part of the main quests and can easily be missed. Dr. Kessler is located inside the Research Laboratory, in the Flooded Jungle. Dr. Kessler will give you one side quest called 'History Lesson'. Simply complete it and turn it in.
This is not part of the main quests and can easily be missed. Cecil is located inside the Makeshift Hospital, in Henderson. Cecil will give you two side quests, 'The Darkness' & 'Healthcare'. Simply complete them and turn it in.
