Dead Island

Dead Island Achievements

Nearly there

Find 120 collectibles.

There are actually a total of 140 collectibles in the game (hence you're "nearly there"), though this is the max you'll need achievement-wise. Anything labeled as a Fact, ID Card, Recording, etc. will count toward this. Weapon mods and blueprints do as well. Click here for a collectible guide.

One small trick to this though: collectibles are counted multiple times for each save file. You could technically pick up the first one in 120 different games if you wanted. So you don't need to worry about this one really.

I like collectibles because you then actually get to enjoy the game for what it is worth and you can probably with this game explore all the enviroments and with video guides this will not be too hard.

Least theres only 120 of them, follow a few text guides you'll have them all in an hours hunting maybe two if you slay a few on the way. hope there all in fairly easy places, still despise Mafia II for putting a wanted poster on a roof that you had to jump of a motorway to get onto. Id Dead island does this i may have to unleash the zombie horde on the developers

UGGGHHH! I have collectable achievements, esp ones that are so numerous...oh well, at least its not near as bad as the sabatuer. I'm over 30 hours in and just now close to finishing all the ambient missions (basically its version of collectables).

Well if there are that many things to collect, and the island isn't overly large,
then one would think it wouldn't be that difficult to get all of them. Surely
there will be some that are in some obscure places, but I think they'll be
highlighted or something to make it a little more bearable. Hopefully when doing
co-op everyone either gets credit or everyone is able to collect every collectible.
How bad would that be if you were playing co-op, trying to get some of the last
collectibles you need and someone who you're playing with keeps picking them up.

"nearly there" i dont like the title of this one... especially as we are dealing with collectibles here

I assume there are more than 120 collectible since the title is "nearly there." Maybe there are 150ish so some may be skipped if you can find a few.

@14 sounds right and i dont think they will be too hard to find as they arent going to be; sitting under some random tree in the jungle, near a rock 50m out to sea, under the seat in a car, etc. The island doesnt seem too big so a little searching in buildings and such should do it.

120 is alot, however if the collectibles actually do something (give fun cheats etc.)
then I wont have a problem getting them, unless some of them are like the flags on
assassins creed -.-

I started playing this last night and the collectibles are really cool. They're audio files or documents that provide back story about why the island has zombies, so I'm actually really excited to find them all. There are some games whose collectibles are just a chore (Assassin's Creed flags anyone?) but these are worth finding because they advance the story. Awesome!

this achievement is easy because its the overall collectibles.. like you can have 120 saved character files and just pick up the same simple collectible

I hate this type of cheevos the most. Carefully searching the map for hidden items isn't my thing but I'll do it jus to get the cheevo. Hopefully I can find a video guide on YouTube.

its easy the collectibles carry over to all your characters so you can just get the ones in the resort area over and over

This achievement is not like any other collectible achievement out there. This one is insanely easy to do, is actually fun, and like #27 said, it carries over to all your characters, there are 140 in the game, but you only need 120. I got this achievement before even getting to ACT III.

Monday, September 12, 2011 @ 05:07:44 AM

Yep. Easy as hell. I got this achievement today, IIRC. I got the same collectables over and over again because I ran 4 different characters. Actually, now that I think about it, I somehow managed to get this before the achievement for completing act 1.

Monday, September 12, 2011 @ 11:32:33 AM

Very easy way of doing this: Firstly, you've needed to complete that game, then go to PLAY > New game/save (not sure what it was again!)> Then, choose the character you've completed the game with > New game > Don't do the prologue (Press B); You will be spawned were you encounter the lifeguard inside the the beach house; Go to the back room where you see a man and a woman on the bed; where you see them, the collectable will be on the left. Once you've done this, you WILL have to quit the game. Now, delete the save and do the same steps above. It'll carry over so don't worry.

Arguably the best part about this achievement is that nearly all collectibles, if not all, are in areas that you can return too at any time in the game.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 @ 02:29:34 AM

Easy to do and @28 there is actually more than 140, even though the challenge says find all the collectibles and has 140 next to it. I found 140, completed the challenge, continued with the game and found around 20 more, all in 1 playthrough.

Let's hope that even though there are more then 120 collectables any future expansions will not include an achievement that says collect them all.

Do the various colored skulls have anything special for you? I got a purple and blue skull. One was found in up a ladder in the sewer and the other I had to break some glass in a house to grab it.

@35 i would like to know this also. I found an orange one aswell as the ones you said. Also in the sewers there is a pile of 3 or so skulls with arrows pointing to them but u cant interact with it in any way. The skulls also dont show in ur inventory.

Yeah this achievement is easy. When simply exploring and looting I've found 80 something no problem. It's not that difficult.

And I too have the skulls and have no bloody clue what they do...

Saturday, September 17, 2011 @ 05:38:10 AM

@37 the skulls are hidden easter eggs, if you have on check out the forum posts as they tell you the location they go in, once you've put them in the location if you have enough mmoney and diamonds they will create a special weapon such as the left hand of gova, which is an electrified fist, or plague bearing knife there's 6 altogether I think

If you're going to be completing act 1 with all four toons (4 life achievement or whatver its called) you can't fail to do this. They do carry over. I just dinged it with my third toon and I don't have anyone past act II yet. Peice of cake.

Friday, October 07, 2011 @ 10:25:35 AM

seems silly to let you add them up through cumulative playthroughs! seems...too easy, i would of given this more GS and made it one playthrough get all of them; instead of that tedious right for life achievement! You could of just goggled all the locations and it would gotten everyone the there and back again achievement. Would of made a ton more sense!

There are actually a surplus of collectibles throughout the game, meaning that via the most recent patch there are more than enough items to fill both the collecting achievements and the associated challenge while still having ID Cards, Facts, and Schematics to pick up in the latter portion of the game. Light exploration paired with main and side story progression will knock this out easily.

This achievement can push you to get all of the mods and blueprints and if you get all of the mods and blueprints, your gameplay experience will greatly increase due to there being lots of ways to kill zombies
