Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record Achievements

Six Digits?!?

Kill 100,000 zombies.

Note: This must be done in Sandbox mode and only the host's kills will count.

Start going for this once you have all single player & co-op challenges done, as this will mean less kills for you to grind. To do this method you will need the SUV.

To get the SUV, grab the two gambling mags. The first is on the second floor of the BBQ Shack in the Americana Casino and the second is on the second floor of the Grotto in the Palisades. Once you have them go to the Slot Ranch Casino and bet on the large slot machine next to the large corridor leading to the food court. Now just sit here betting until you hit $2,500,000. Once you have that much, go to the pawn shop on the Silver Strip and buy the SUV key.

You will then want to go get the driving magazine too so that makes the SUV last 3 times longer. It is located on the roof of Paradise Platinum Screens on the Platinum Strip. You have to climb the snack machine right next to Cash Gordan's Casino and climb up, then you follow the walkway all the way round. You will then need to jump to the roof of Jugz Bar & Grill, then jump to the roof of Paradise Platinum Screens.

Once you have the magazine go and get the SUV. Then drive the SUV up and down the strip running over zombies. As soon as the SUV begins to smoke it's a good idea to go into the underground then come back, so another spawns. Simply then use the SUV until it breaks and get the new one when it does. Rinse and repeat. This will take you a while and will be a grind. It'll also most likely be the last achievement you get.

to be honest did we expect it not to have a really stupid numbered kill count? lets juist hope they do something to the game that makes it easier to obtain..

I thought it was going to be new psychopaths -- but when I see the achievement: Tiger Tiger Tamer 20
Have Snowflake attack and damage a psychopath.

... I wonder how much old vs. how much new this will have.

God damn these total kill achievements.

Tuesday, August 16, 2011 @ 08:28:04 AM

@4: Exactly. If they didn't reset your kill count and gave you much more imaginative ways to kill, it'd be a lot better. Every "mega-kill" achievement in games expects you to grind for hours doing the same thing, and it's getting very tiring now.

@12 - that'd be nice!

We'll see how generous Capcom is with ways to kill massive amounts of zombies once it is released. I hated grinding out the 53,000 kills in Dead Rising and didn't even try for it in DR2.

i have every achievement in every dead rising i even think these kill insert number here achievements are kinda grinding but they are a staple of the series, the first dead rising had kill 53,594 which was the exact population of wilamette the place of the outbreak, many have copied it and or even ripped it off comlpetely-left for dead and prototype, i guess i dont have a real point here
cant wait for the game

Tuesday, August 16, 2011 @ 08:02:10 PM

@21: Yeah, it made sense in the first game because like you said, it was the population of the city the game took place in, so the gag is that you killed everyone (even though there were of course plenty of zombies left, and the survivors).

But now it's just getting out of hand. Rather than picking a number that has any relevance like the 53,000+ did, they're just pulling some random huge number out of a hat and saying "kill this many trolololol".

Thursday, August 18, 2011 @ 01:43:26 AM

I think this is in relation to the little rivalry between games involving zombies.
Dead Rising had 53,593. Left 4 Dead had one at 53,594. Prototype had one at 53,595.
Then Capcom said, fuck you, and had the 70,000 one and now the 100,000 one.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 @ 07:05:24 PM

This better be easier than getting 70k kills in the last game. Getting 100k kills would have been cake in the first game, but I barely made it to 70k in Dead Rising 2 before time ran out. These achievements are getting old though. Are they trying to be more difficult like Seriously 3.0? The people who decided on that achievement should all be shot, because it's basically a "no life" achievement where you need to waste hundreds of hours to get it legit, and I don't feel like wasting many hours of my life doing this over and over til I finally get lucky and get it.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 @ 09:29:16 PM

Does EXP carry over from sandbox mode to story mode? I gained almost 20 levels in DR2
going for 72,000 kills. So if it does carry over then one could do almost all their
leveling up just going for 100,000 kills.

All kills in Sandbox mode save when you save the game and you can get the kill achievements there so this is actually really easy, it just takes time but you don't have to do it in one sitting.

Nice it will be a breeze in sandbox mode, and give me a crapload of pp to level up all the way to 50, I already got the S ending, so I would rather do this now when it benefits my leveling then to save it for last when it really doesn't help at all. Guesse I will have to round up the cash for the SUV key. Now where were those driving magazines at?

this should be total kills as in both story mode and sandbox, you get 8,000 kills in story mode for nothing. left 4 dead at least made it so you wouldn't have to do the same stupid thing over and over and then they dropped it, there is nothing fun about this and it requires no skill. of all the cheap ways to keep you playing a game..

*Sandbox Mode (Obviously)
*Slice-cycle (Chainsaw + motorcycle)
*Bike + magazine (Underground Tunnels)
*Fortune Park (Between Silver Strip and Platinum Strip)

Drive around until you have killed nearly all the infected in the area, then start the challenge: "Party Hard" in the center, next to the save point and maintenance room. Immediately cancel the challenge and hop back on your slice-cycle. All the infected in the area will have re-spawned and you can continue this process until the slice-cycle breaks. Then simply leave the area, come back, rebuild the slice-cycle and repeat.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012 @ 04:00:31 PM

This infected re-spawning trick seems to work with all the challenges in sandbox mode. Therefore, there may be a better challenge to repeatedly start and stop to cause infected re-spawning. However, having the save point nearby gives you an easy out when you get bored.

Easiest way. Go into the Underground from the ramp by the Yucatan Entrance. To your left you'll you'll see boxes with a Severbot mask. There will be a book to make your Dirt Bike Last 3 times as long.

Make the chain saw bike. You can find a chainsaw on top on the stage or simply in the maintence room by where you very first start sandbox mode.

You are going to want to dirt bike. More zombies show up and you can kill anywhere from 1,500-3,500 per run and when you think your bike is about to break go inside the Yucatan and come back out to make a new one. In about 3 hour's I had at least 7,000 Kills.

Slycicle + Silver Strip + Extreme Off-Road challenge.

Start the challenge, cancel it and drive the strip up and down to kill the humongously spawned crowds of zombies (especially in front of the Yucatan). You can get up to 600-700 kills before the groups of zombies thin out and you have to start/cancel the challenge again. Every 2,500 kills the bike breaks, so park it near the chainsaw at the stage.

For 10,000 kills, it takes me about an hour. And I like this method more than driving around the WHOLE strip.

Tuesday, March 26, 2013 @ 08:25:16 AM

amen SuMone with common sense .
Dont bother with the suv just use the slicicle . not sure about the challenge though .
I just ride around and when the bike is just ready to break , go into the underground turn round and exit and everything respawns . bike chainsaw car , the lot

Wednesday, April 23, 2014 @ 02:53:09 PM

@81 is pretty right, just to add anecdotal evidence. 600-700 kills in just 2 minutes on the bike every time. There's obviously the re-creation time after the bike breaks, but that's still better than the SUV by far, and the Slicecycle just going around, because it replenishes the enemies in the area every time you start the challenge.

Leaderboard best right now is 955, but you usually won't go near that high unless you know the challenge like the back of your hand.
