Zombie Fu Achievement in Dead Rising 2

  • Zombie Fu

    20

    Kill 1,000 zombies barehanded.

  • How to unlock Zombie Fu

While playing through the game, use your jump kick move ( then ) to kill zombies. While leveling up, you'll receive additional barehanded moves. Not only are these moves fun to mess around with, they'll make killing zombies quite a bit easier. There is a magazine located in "Ragazines" inside the Royal Flush Casino. The magazine is called; Hand-to-Hand. Use this to help you with your kills.

The kill count is spread across all playthroughs, given you restart the story from a previous save, but there have been reports of it not unlocking, so it's best to contain them in one playthrough, just to be on the safe side.

Note: The moves you receive while leveling are random. Don't worry if a certain skill hasn't unlocked yet, you'll get them all eventually.

  • That's weird, I did this at the start of a playthrough so there'd be less zombies around. I unlocked the achievement at 966 kills. o.0
  • Thinks this is best done after reaching level 50, and starting new game. But did at start, as guy above lol as was more fun:). Weird that you got it on 966kills, saves some time i guess :)
  • Remember, the survivor's kills can count as your own. Perhaps a few of your survivors knocked a few zombies out. To make this easier, get the hand to hand book from the book store on the second floor in the same area as the safe room. I did it by running around and doing jump kicks as I progressed through the game and drop kicks in large crowds. It didn't take long at all with this. Doing this achievement unlocks the tattered clothes in the safe room aka the "Shawn of the dead" outfit.
  • I got the book, and some untouchable drinks just in case. Went to the Silver Strip near the stage. Got some of the firework flares, stabbed it in the middle of a crowd. Let them bunch up even more. Then Elbow Smashed them all. got about a good 3-5 kills every drop.
  • go to the strip in fortune park, go to the stall with the fireworks use them to round up zombies then use the level 50 pick up move and throw the zombie in every zombie it hits it kills, I can get 10 kills per throw so I'm gonna start on this one
  • @alex i tried that method myself, pick up & throw. got to over 1000 kills but didn't get the achivo. pissed me off loads for wasting my time & having to kill another 1000 barehanded. mite be cos it classes the zombie as a 'weapon' dumbass game. i just made a lot of zombaits then & used the elbow drop skill. took ages but eventually got it :) same as mjc though, i unlocked achivo with slightly less than 1000 so not sure if this one carries over
  • I know this sounds stupid but, could it be possible to unlock this by using nail gloves because they are technically barehanded? I'm a level 40 and can kill a zombie in about 3 bare hits so I'm saving this for my next playthrough, just a thought.
  • You can just do an elbow crowd repeatedly of zombies over and over again. Just keep some pain killer on you incase you need health. Took me about a half hour to knock this one out.
  • can we use MMA gloves?
  • Simple way if you have Microsoft Points: Download Ninja Pack, and its a BLAST!!! its simple, takes less than an hour.
  • i have 966 kills too when i unlocked this achievement, but i have killed some zombies with the bike in the subterranean area and it still counts
  • This is pretty easy if you have the magazines
  • Just like the first game, throwing a zombie into another zombie doesn't count. I got this by repeatedly elbow dropping in the stairwell on the Platinum Strip. There's tons of zombies down there in really tight quarters. I got 10-12 kills a couple of times. If you have the ninja costume, wearing just one piece significantly reduces your chances of being grabbed by a zombie.
  • The ninja costume is good, but when I got this achievement I stayed in the part of the royal flush plaza where the 3 zombie guards are (the place where there are coffee creamers and big fluffy dices) and I used the smash skill to smash the zombies outside of the area. This was easy as the zombies can't get into the area and the smash pulls them in and kills them.
  • Did this by going around Royal Flush Plaza jump kicking the zombies at the very being. Helped to be level 50.
  • Can anyone confirm which skill moves do not count towards this achievement? Because the 'Zombie Drop' does not work.
  • Just got this one today with my friend in coop. Went on a zombie kungfu rampage! haha
  • any1 know if holding x button move counts towards the count as used it and got well over 1000 and hasnt unlocked???
  • I tore off so many zombies arms getting this achievement. LOT of fun
  • This achievement is glitched and lame. 100 I can understand, but a 1000 is just time consuming.
  • This achievement was pretty easy and didn't take long at all if you just kill the zombies outside of the safe room entrance. There's about 150-200 zombies packed closely together for easy elbow drops. Took me about 5 runs to complete this, and less thana n hour. :) Also, I had the magazine. Hope this helps.
  • I just ran around all the time dropkicking.
  • drop kicking = easiest "barehand" move... :P
  • So, this is what I've seen, and this IS NOT to be a sexist comment in the least, but the women zombies are so much easier to kill than the male zombies. I can front kick a female zombie once and they'll die, but I have to do it 3-4 times to kill a male zombie...it's pretty messed up
  • This really annoying one...
  • I feel like I don't have the energy to get this one...maybe it'll come naturally!
  • also confirmed 966 kills. no followers. just holding the book and food and doing the elbow drop. can use zombait or fountain firework.fast kills in silver strip. either throw the firework and pick it back up, keep on the ground, a zombie with it or hit a zombie with it (wont kill). not sure why it gave to me at 966... but oh well not complaining. :P
  • i did it twice and still dont have it
  • does this have to be done all at once?
  • I did this after I finished my first playthrough- it unlocked at exactly 1000, so I guess kills didn't carry over for me. But like others have said, using the elbow drop out on the strip, particularly by the arena, works well.
  • I still cant get this one to pop. Any ideas?
