Hero of Fortune City Achievement in Dead Rising 2

  • Hero of Fortune City

    20

    Save 50 survivors.

  • How to unlock Hero of Fortune City

Survivors are saved by finding them and escorting them back to the safe house. Survivors are mostly messaged to your cell phone while others only appear at certain points throughout the game.

This achievement must be done in a single playthrough, as opposed to 'Data Miner' which is cumulative, although both can be done in a single run, if managed correctly.
It is possible to do this in your first playthrough, along with the storyline, but I recommend saving them for a different playthrough, along with the 'use all items on zombies' achievements.

A guide for gaining both achievements in one playthrough can be found here.

    A few pointers about survivors:

    • The game only allows you to have 8 survivors at the same time during the game, so if a mission doesn't trigger, chances are you'll need to finish a few missions before they appear.
    • When a message is incoming for the area you're currently present, the message will not appear. Leave the area to trigger it.
    • Do not hang about in the safe house waiting for calls, messages do not appear and you might miss out.
    • Do not leave your survivors behind a loading screen. They gradually lose health and will die eventually. Always wait at the door until all the survivors have a green door icon above their heads/avatar.
    • Check their avatars. If someone seems to be lingering, chances are they are cripple or they're being held by a zombie. A quick glance at the avatar will reveal it's condition.
    • If you happen to come across a psycho encounter while escorting survivors, cram them in a maintenance room or any room with doors that is zombie-free and close it.

  • i finished the game saving all mission survivors.. no achievement. where did i go wrong??
  • same ;(
  • Awsome this didnt happen to jus me
  • The survivors you start off with (11 of them that make it to the safe room; for example: Katey,Lulu, ect)do not count. You must actually rescue this many survivors without the given ones. There are 47 survivors you get from calls. 18 are secret. Rescue all the survivors you get from calls. Here are some of the locations and times some secret survivors appear;(Erica, Rosa, and Bessie appear on Day 2 | 8AM - Day 2 4PM in the Royal Flush Plaza, 2nd floor in Kathy's Space/----Lenny and Snowflake the Tiger(Snowflake counts too); do after you find katey her first Zombrex and have to wait to give it too her; in the Yucatan Casino (Lenny is hiding in one of the rooms and you have to tame Snowflake before you talk to him)/----Janus appears on Day 2 | 7 PM - Day 3 9AM at the entrace of the Atlantica
  • Hope this helps!
  • To make it in simpler terms of what he said.. The ones you get messages of arn't the only one's out there. They dont tell you all of them. You just have to find the secret ones yourself. Or look it up on the web! ;D
  • can you do this through co op ?
  • The host will get the achievement if you get 50 survivors but the client will not. (I found that out the hard way =(. )
  • You can do it on coop as with all achievements but if you have to reconnect even once you start from 1 survivor again, risky if you ask me
  • Do you gotta do Case files or can you skip them all? iirc in the first game there were a couple areas that you only gained access to through doing the main story, like the entrance area of the mall. I know that doing the main story opens up a couple of paths, but is it actually /necessary/ for any survivors?
  • not all the survivers will apear if you fail the case files. you do not have to finish finish the playthrough. as soon as 50 are safe it will unlock. the are only 4 or 5 to spare.
  • Does anyone know exactly how many "safe" survivors need to register in your notebook before it counts as a solid 50? I'm guessing it's 61 since you start with 11.
  • I saved 60 and didnt get it
  • Do you have to save 50 survivors in a single playthrough?
  • @14 also i want to know that. 1 playthrough or multiple?
  • It has to be done in one playthrough
  • I hated the survivors in the first one, I don't wanna save them, I want to smashzombies, it was so annoying, and the achievement for that game, well, didn't even try, damn you capcom!
  • I get what PerilousPWN means. Simply put that if you had saved 50 survivors you need to minus 11(possibly 12 for TK but I don't know if he counts) of the total number since the NPCs that start in the safe house don't count. I didn't get it in my first playthrough. It's best to follow a guide but the times given can be off by about 10 or 15 in game minutes.
  • I got this on my second play through. Just make sure to save every survivor that comes up on your messages from Stacey, and you will eventually get it. The ones who don’t come up in your messages which are like the “secret survivors” do NOT count. As long as you get all the main ones during your play through, you should have no problems.
  • This is the step by step method I used to get the 50 survivors and some relevant information about each one. It is divided up into "Trips" which are the time between leaving the Safe House and returning. If you follow this exactly as it's written you should be able to get all the survivors and do the main story together without any real difficulty although there are a couple of spots where the timing can get a bit tight. Obviously this has to be done all in the same playthrough. Tips: Save often, at the very least each time you complete a Trip, and alternate between at least 2 of the save files just in case anything goes wrong. Take the Leadership magazine from inside One Little Duck Bingo, it supposedly makes survivors more effective although I haven't really noticed. It does make s
  • some of the survivors that would usually need to be carried or helped to walk able to run like everybody else. Remember that there can be a combined total of 8 survivors in your party and loose around the city at any one time. If you're expecting a Case or random survivors to appear and they don't it may be because there aren't enough free spaces for them, in which case you need to bring some of the current survivors back to the Safe House. If you follow my guide exactly and don't waste any time you shouldn't have to worry about this. Also remember that a Case or random survivors won't appear while you're in the same area as they would be. Check out the info I have included for each survivor before heading out for the relevant Trip to make sure you know exactly where you're going and wha
  • at the end of my first playthrough i had 45 survivors pain in the ass
  • anyone looking for this i will help, i need to coop achievement and i will help you get this and the pschopath achievement alon gthe way. msg deltorakid2 for ask to join
  • Some of them you have to do co-op because you don't have a lot of time to get to all of them , back and forth , seeing as Chuckie is kinda slow :|
  • quickstep is useful for this.
  • *MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS* This guide is not a complete walkthrough of the game. It will tell you where to find the surviors and help you manage your time. It does not contain stratagies for defeating psycho's as they are beyond the scope of this guide. It does however contain the requirements for certain survivors to join you. *For some reason or another the case 'An Industrial Fashion' did not come through on the transceiver. But I found Willa and Terri on Day 2 at 2:00pm. If you get the call for this case I suggest you deal with it when you have spare time.* Day 1 - September 25th When you first exit the safe house follow the guide arrow to Roy’s Mart to find the Zombrex and your first survivor Denyce. Take back to the safe house. Total Survivors: 1 Exit the safe house and
  • Was going to do a complete walk through, but seems like I will need to be in around 25 posts, so Screw it, Here is a link to the walk through for the acheivement. http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dead-rising-2/70405-hero-fortune-city-guide.html
  • this one is 100 times easier than 1st dead rising. these survivors have alot more health and are not as stupid as in 1st one.
  • Finally just completed a play through with 54 survivors saved in my notebook. . . . But it only counted 42 at the end of my playthrough. . . Anyone able to explain to me what I did wrong or why it did that to me? I did the main story line up until case 3-2 than said F-It and continued on with my survivors. . . If that helps any
  • When I had my PS3 last year,I rented this game and saved 47 survivors without a guide. There was 3 that I was going to save but did not have enough money to buy them out. I was about 15,000 $ short so I left them ,went back to the save room and saved. I played Terror Is Reality online won 1st place cashed my money onto that save file and went back to the casino (I think it was Americana Casino) but they were gone. A glitch happened were they dissapeared. Needless to say I was pissed. I'm going for this one again though and will have tons of money this time lol. Capcom needs to fix that damn survivor glitch this happened to me in this first one were the two ladies in the closet were being held hostage by Paul the Arsonist. I killed him (I tried putting him out with a fire extuigisher over a
  • nd he kept dying anyway.) This achivement is a million times easier then Saint. The survivor AI in this game is a million times better then the first one. Like I said I almost got this trophy my first try I have yet to get Saint. I never had a survivor die on me in this game and I never felt worried about having more then 3 or so survivors with me in this game wereas in the first I felt like just killing them myself because I would have to load and load over and over because the morons couldn't use that baseball bat I gave them. I guess they were afraid they would hurt the zombies. Great game, fun co op and online. Good job Blue Castle for surpassing my expectations of this game. GOTY 2010 from me.
  • Alright since this account which is not the account I got the achievement on that gamer profile is BENGALS1237, but anyway I did this without a guide. I got 57/65. The only help I got was I looked up a few "secret survivors" but that's it. Right when I saved the 50th person I got the achievement and the Willamette uniform thingy.
  • @19 The "secret survivors" do count you need to save at least 3 of them to get the achievement. The only survivors that don't count are the ones that are there at the beginning. You also do not have to do any cases. all I did was give Katey zombrex and kill pyschopaths and saved survivors. I didn't fail a single side mission that I got and I don't think I even got them all. But I still got the achievement,
  • I have 49 survivors saved. Can I rescue stacey and katy in overtime mode and it still counts??
  • Do the survivors you get from psychopath side missions count
  • This may be late posting but could somebody help me get this one I tried twice and missed 1 both times my gt is poptart toucher add me or message me if you could help thanks
  • Well that sucks I saved about 54 but the end game only registered 43
  • can anyone tell me if i can still get the achievement by not saving the 3 assholes playing poker at the Atlantic casino i tried playing to beat them but it goes on forever especially since time is a bit tight during this attempt to save 50 survivors
  • nevermind, if you save all survivors from calls and secret survivors up to "one hit wonder mission" you should unlock the achievement right after you save them skipping the poker gang in the atlantica casino
  • anyone trying to 100% dr2 add me im trying to do it too and I have a mic. gt TrollOfTheGODJ
  • VectorUSS, you just suck at poker. They say get the gambling magazines to help if you suck at poker. I just did the Higher Rollers poker game in ten minutes.
