Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Achievements
Gun Nut20
Fully upgrade one of your weapons.

During the game you'll come across some gun mods. These are things that will either increase a guns ammo capacity, recoil, add laser sights etc. Your task is to use as many of these as possible on one gun until it's fully upgraded. Some mods can't be used on certain weapons, so either sell them or use it on another one.

To view any weapons stats, open up your inventory and select the weapon you wish to look at with the . From here select 'Examine' and you can then see how mch further you need to go. You won't get this achievement until late in the game, but the easiest one to upgrade is the Tranquillizer Rifle.

Fully upgrade does not mean that you just need the 3 upgrades a weapon can
get i.e. silencer, laser sight etc. You also need to fully upgrade it's damage,
capacity, reload speed etc.

Great, now a recommended easy/early weapon to get the achievement on would be helpful.

If you have the Tactical Enhancement Pack from the pre-order bonus, the double barreled shot gun is a good choice for this achievement. Under 5 upgrades needed I believe. Even if you don't have it, there are enough upgrades in the game to get you by.

If you are going for the passive achievement which is the best weapon to start upgrading to get this?

Machine Pistol doesn't have too many upgrades and is one of the first weapons you find.

Thanks for the good options. Already sold the rocket launcher, took up too many spots in the inventory, and I'm trying to go passive, though I did get the pre-order weapons and don't have the heart to drop them. Every upgrade I've gotten so far has only worked with the silenced sniper rifle though, so I'll keep pumping them into it, but will also start purchasing the shotty upgrades now too. I don't currently seem to have any shortage of money since I keep running back and forth to gun dealers to sell weapons whenever I can....

anyone know, or can find, a list of every upgrade you need for the 10mm pistol to complete this? I have a large amount of upgrades on the 10mm and have not got this yet. I have every upgrade listed in the deus ex wikia including several for ammo capacity ( capping me a 22 rounds per magazine). So, I am stuck don't know what else I can put on this thing or where to find more upgrades. I have purchased from every vendor and hunted every upgrade in random spots, plus received some from quests'. Can you even get this achievement with the 10mm???

The 10mm pistol needs four of each rate of fire, reload speed, damage output, and ammo capacity upgrades, plus a laser sight, a silencer, and the armor piercing barrel, so 19 upgrades total.

Damn, looks like the 10mm pistol is a bad option if you wanna get this achievement quickly....

@13: the 10mm is the only leathal weapon i'm carrying (small inventory, big facepalm when it came to first boss fight) so that news suxx for me too. oh well, it looks bloody sweet now but i wish i could take off the upgrades and put them on the revolver

I forgot that the Tranquilizer Rifle needs another upgrade, Target Leading, to go with the three reloads speed upgrades so it needs four total like the rocket launcher.

Yah Pistol is bad. I was dropping everything I could find onto it and by the time I finished was still missing a damage upgrade.

@18 I assume you mean there are reload upgrades there?

Anyway I'm upgrading the tranq rifle but I still need two reload speed upgrades.
I just got to Hengsha for the second time and I was wondering if I'll be able to
find two more before its too late?

Damn! I just gave my highly upgraded shotgun to Van Bruggen. I feel like Han Solo giving the Falcon to Calrissian. If you want to get this achievement, make sure you have a lethal weapon you don't mind giving away when you're in Hengsha the first time. He'll reward you later.

for van bruggen i think it maybe smart to leave a spare standard gun near his pod when you first meet him then when you go back drop any modded guns you want to keep like near the start of his pod section that way you can pick em up with out the guards seeing you / being in the way

haven't tried this yet so please tell me if it works ;)

Tranquilizer Rifle all the way only 4 upgrades target leading and 3 reload speed upgrades. Easy to get during your stealth playthrough.

@14 Yeah, I was lucky and had my sights on using a revolver whenever I found one. I figured I'd be using my shotty on bosses, but it kinda sucks to be honest.

My last boss fight, the Picus sub-basement bitch, I ran in a circle til I spotted her Predator style shimmy of invisibility and set off a maxed out Typhoon, then when I had control again, one shot from my revolver and that was that..... it felt pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure I would have fully upgraded the assault rifle at the end of the game IF I wouldn't have been so stupid to think that weapon upgrades are permanent. Dropped a half upgraded rifle in need of inv-space, thinking the next rifle I'd pick up have the same upgrades.... Well, it didn't. Just writing this because there might be future idiots like me hopefully reading this in advance

I personally did the 10mm to get this. You need the Armor Piercing Upgrade, Silencer, Laser Targeting, 4 damage, 4 reload, 4 rate of fire and 4 ammo capacity. I personally think this is a good one to have around if you're taking a lethal approach, it's a very good weapon to have on hand at all times. Especially with the main 3 upgrades on it.

Upgrading the pistol to the max takes forever :/

I just got this one on my first playthrough. I went the Stealth-Combat route, since I did not know what to expect. I used the pistol and I upgraded it every chance I got. I made three weapon enhancements (Silencer, Laser Targeting System, and the Armor-Piercing System). From there I upgraded my pistol every chance I got with the gray boxes (Rate of Fire, Reload Speed, Damage Output, and Ammo Capacity.) I assumed the goal was to max out all ten bars for each category. This doesn't seem to be the case, because many of the boxes I found would not let me apply them to my pistol any longer. So, I assumed I had chosen a bad gun for this achievement. However, this one popped for me towards the end of my second stint in China. My gun's final tally: Rate of fire 8/10, Reload Speed 9/10, D

Again, my pistol: Rate of Fire 8/10, Reload Speed 9/10, Damage Output 7/10, and Ammo Capacity 7/10.
