|Earned maximum approval from all thrall types. (Darkspawn Chronicles)|
You don't technically have any companions here. Instead, you have to enthrall the Darkspawn units you've become very familiar with. The approval meter is the same as the romance meter. You can also give gifts that you take from dead enemies.
To enthrall, press and move the cursor to one of the Darkspawn. You can only have three enthralled at one time. By killing enemy units (you have to kill them, not just let your companions do it), you gain approval from the enthralled Darkspawn. Once you have max approval for one, kill it by holding , pressing , and highlighting it. The units that you have to enthrall are a Genlock, a Hurlock, a Hurlock Emissary, a Shriek, a Blight Wolf, and an Ogre.

this can be done in 1 play through,it does not reset each time you play because I got it, and the first time I forgot the blight wolf and as soon as I got that to 100% it popped.

It involves earning the maximum respect with all darkspawn types. This basically involves enthralling each type of darkspawn. You will need to keep them in your party until you've maxed out their respect for you. Then kill them and replace them with a different type of darkspawn. You will need to earn the respect of a Genlock, an Ogre, a Hurlock, a Hurlock Emissary, a Shriek and a Blight Wolf. Collect Gifts from dead bodies and give them to your Thralls to earn +20 respect per gift.

Here's a guide, it works.
I completed the Darkspawn Chronicles just the other day. A fun little DLC to say the least, but the Enthralling achievement is NOT as hard as some people make it out to be. That is, if it doesn't glitch for you or anything.
Note: Yes, you need to do this in one play through. Enthrall all 6 guys and get them to 100% in one run.
Note 2: Setting the difficulty to casual helps A LOT if you just want to breeze through this stuff very quickly.
To go over the list of guys to enthrall, they are:
Genlock - First guy to enthrall. Found everywhere.
Hurlock - Found in every zone fighting soldiers, pretty much fodder.
Hurlock Emissary - Found in the Alienage.
Ogre - Found in the first area, as well as the Palace area.
Blight Wolf - Found only in the Palace

Hey all, to those worrying about this fear not!. The Thralls you need are
- Genlock (The little guy)
- Hurlock (The taller guy)
- Hurlock Emissary (The taller mage guy)
- Ogre (The big boy)
- Shriek (The ninja?)
- Blight Wolf (The ninja dog??)
Gifts are picked up from corpses, mainly important people such as Oghren etc. Mainly anyone who isn't a regular soldier. No matter what it is, the Thrall will have +20 respect for you. As to Jeadwe12's question. The bar is a bit wierd, go on your inventory and scroll to the Thrall, the bar doesn't look full so my method was to save game, give the Thrall a gift. If he doesn't give respect, then re load, kill him and continue. For a full in depth guide visit

I've now spent longer trying for this god damn achievement than it takes to playthrough the DLC. The reason this achievement is bullshit and whoever thought it up needs to be fired, is the same reason the innocent civilian quest is: the stupid god damn NPCs that constantly kill everything and do not let me get credit!

if youre having problems with getting approval up the check this. in the palace district go to the royal palace marker on your map. after you have defeated all in the area, two dwarven units will continue to spawn at the gate. use this to your advantage. continue to make them spawn by hanging out by the gate. as your units continue to fight, they will acquire new skills thus increasing their approval ratings. fun, no. effective, yes.

Just got it, the Genlock Archer counts as one, right after he hit 100% i got the achievement
so you need a regular genlock and a genlock archer.

I got 100% for every single type, even did both regular Genlock and the archer, so that 7 types in total. No achievement. If this DLC was fun, I wouldn't have minded, but whole thing is done so lazily, it's painful enough for one run.

Just did this. I would like to put in my two cents about this achievement. I did it in one play through, and to those that are saying you need both a Genlock AND a Genlock archer, you are incorrect. You only need the 6:
Had no problems getting them all the 100 by the time I finished off Sten, with killings and gifts.

The major problems to this are:
1. The random darsspawn will follow you even if they are not enthralled causing
you to loose alot of kills to them slowing your progress.
2. When you kill one of your thralls to cycle to another then enthrall one you
have maxed out before it comes back at under half approval.

I had trouble unlocking this at first but it seems that deleting your saves really does wonders. I just got it by doing the following:
1. Maxed out approval with the Genlock in the first area, needed to use 2 gifts to do that. Other slots were filled by Hurlock and Ogre (was going for the Ogre Keeper achievement at the same time).
2. Killed the maxed-out Genlock at the beginning of the second area, enthralled the Shriek. Went through the Markets and maxed out the Hurlock by the end, using one gift t do so.
3. At the beginning of the third area I killed off the maxed-out Hurlock and enthralled the Hurlock Emissary. This guy proved difficult to please, not sure if this was because, being a ranged character, he didn't 'see' me kill many enemies but in any case I ended up using

Sunday, July 24, 2011 @ 02:42:12 AM
...gifts to fully get his approval. The Shriek, on the other hand, was much more co-operative and he was maxed by the beginning of the next section.
4. The fourth area, the Palace District, was easy really. I only had to worry about finishing off the Hurlock Emissary (which didn't take long after all my bribes) and getting the approval of the Blight Wolf. I enthralled the wolf immediately after freeing the Ogre and used the dwarf-spawning doorway described above to max it our. Took about 10 minutes but, lo and behold, it unlocked.
Again, I recommend trying the above after deleting your saves and beginning anew, just to be sure.

Just to add a quick note...I had my Blight Wolf nearly complete and the acheivement popped without the note in the bottom left (+whatever approval). It might be possible that your Thralls are raising approval without the game making a visible note of it.

Just to clear up the Genlock Archer confusion:
I enthralled a Genlock on the first screen but had to kill him off to make room for the Shriek in the next area before I could max out his happiness. I then enthralled a Genlock Archer and maxed his happiness out. I then did the same for a Shriek, Blight Wolf, Hurlock, Ogre and Hurlock Emissary. The achievement popped right away.
- The achievement pops right away, no need to beat the campaign first.
- Genlock and Genlock Archer appear to be interchangeable.

In the first are, I enthralled a Genlock, Hurlock and Ogre, once the Genlock got maxed I killed him, In the market, I enthralled the Shriek. Killed the Hurlock when it got maxed. In the Alienage, I finished maxing the Shriek and Ogre here, then killed one in the palace area, got the Hurlock Emissary near the beginning of the area, and a Blight Wolf when I opened the gate for the Ogre, maxed them all and achievement popped up easily. Never once did I try enthralling a Genlock Archer, so it doesn't matter what type of Genlock it is.

So, I only recently came back to finish full combo-ing this game and really can't believe how glitched so much of this game has become. I'm currently trying to get this one and the one where you have to keep the ogre alive. They're my last 2 achievements. I've come across 2 glitches on this doc though so far. The first being that not every kill is being registered to help with approval. I know I have to be the one who kills them whether from full health or just the last hit, but there are times where all the others are focused on someone else while I kill someone from full health and get nothing towards my enthralled guys. In addition, I'm at the part where you have to burn down the gates to proceed, but NONE of the fire based attacks or fire bombs are working

Just got this one on my first playthrough and used some of the tips here, but I Noticed a few things so I hope this helps.
First thing is to play on Casual. After you Enthrall ANYONE, set their tactics to Defensive and then UN-check each number of their tactic slots. Don't just Disable tactics. They will follow you without attacking anyone giving you more opportunity to make kills yourself. The only thing to worry about after that is NPC Darkspawn which snag some of you kills.
Second thing I noticed is the kills seem to cycle through who it inspires. When I had my Ogre, Shriek, and Hurlock team, any kill I did only inspired one at a time.
The third thing is once you kill off any thrall that is maxed out, DO NOT enthrall that same type again or you will have to start all over.
Wednesday, May 08, 2013 @ 08:21:28 PM
Using the Defensive tactic also makes you thralls fodder for anyone trying to kill them so if you notice their health slipping, switch to them and heal. When you get the Hurlock Emissary, leave his tactic for healing open. You will have to SAVE FREQUENTLY because if any thrall dies, they don't resurrect when the battle ends like in the original game. They die permanently.
The gifts you find are awesome to find out how inspired a thrall is. Every gift gives +20, but they are best used when a thrall is nearly maxed out. If you give one and it says anything less, great, they are maxed and you can get rid of them and work on another.
I hope this helps anyone stuck with this out there. :)

My solution was to make sure no one you're using dies until they have full approval. This dlc is glitched to hell and back which makes it endless amounts of frustrating. Once you move up the stairs after rescuing the second Orc the game doesn't seem to let you Enthral anymore - also make sure you keep the right Orc in your party if you want to get "Oger's Keeper" as well. Kill the other Ogre.
