Introduction:
Dragon Ball Z for Kinect sounds like every Dragon Ball fans wildest dreams come true. Unfortunately unless you have some thick rose-tinted glasses, it won't be a fun ride in the world to 1000. While the game has no cheat codes, it does read QR codes which give various characters or abilities. These can be found here (click the QR code to make it bigger): https://www.facebook.com/DBZ.videogam...10768132387586
Note: Using the power-up QR codes will disable the win bonus, which will make getting the Score Attack high scores almost impossible.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Story Mode:
Your first step is to play through story mode, I would suggest going into the tutorials first to get a feel for the game. Completing story mode will net you 5 achievements worth 210

Step 2 - Score Attack:
Your next step is to collect all the Score Attack achievements. Ignore what the achievement descriptions say for each of these, as you must beat the high score listed by default in the game and not your own previous best. All the high scores are the same (4 million points) except for the final Kid Buu fight where you must score 1, 500,000 points. Completing all the Score Attack high scores will net you 23 achievements worth 380

Step 3 - Clean-up:
The final step is to mop-up any miscellaneous achievements you have remaining, 16, worth 410

Conclusion:
Hopefully you have now 1000/1000 and maybe you even enjoyed getting there, anything is possible! For information and tips on how to get any specific achievement refer to the guide.

There are 44 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • You topped your high score for all Score Attack stages.

The Score Attack achievement descriptions are basically misleading and wrong. What it actually means is "We have set a high score, beat it". The high score for each fight is 4 million, with the exception of the Kid Buu 2 fight in which the high score is set to 1.5 million.

There are two strategies for this, however one is really only useful until a certain point.

    Easy Difficulty Method:
This method is pretty much only useful up until Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga.

Set the difficulty to Easy. Have no QR code power-ups on (you can go into the Options menu in the Main menu to turn them off). As soon as the fight begins wail on the opponent, lean forward to make your character move closer to them if you must. If they block stop attacking and wait until they stop blocking. Eventually your Assault Gauge will fill and you will enter the quick-time event where you fill your Assault Gauge three times more. You'll want to make sure you succeed at each of these. Once that is over, take the time to fill your Ki Meter as much as possible until the opponent comes towards you and is in melee range then repeat the Assault Gauge process. Once your Ki Meter is full, hopefully your Combo Meter is at 5.0x now (if it was reset by being hit, restart the fight and try again. If you've filled your Ki Meter before your combo has reached 5.0x then just continue wailing on the opponent until is at 5.0x) then you want to immediately use your second Super Attack (that's the one at the top that uses all your Ki Meter's charge). Repeat this process a second time. This should put you over 2 million. If the opponent is not dead, finish him off however you want and win the fight. You should receive the win bonus of x2 which should bring your score to 4 million.

    Normal Difficulty Method:

Set the difficulty to Normal. Use the QR code for Kid Buu if you have not yet unlocked him. The reason we use Kid Buu is that he has pretty good health (since you need survivability for this method) and other characters with A-rank attack will not leave enough room for error. You can however use someone like Super Gogeta who has A-rank health and B-rank attack for this method if you prefer but I find Kid Buu's second Super Attack to be the easiest to pull off. Before you begin make sure you don't have any QR code power-ups active (go into the Options menu in the Main menu and slide it off if given the option). One final note is that harder enemies (i.e. Perfect Cell, Kid Buu) will put up shields that make filling the Assault Gauges via melee basically useless.

Now enter the fight and attempt to build your Ki Meter (use Kid Buu's second Super Attack motion to charge it) until you're able to use the jump action (appears above the Ki Meter), however some enemies will prove to be annoying and beat the crap out of you before you can do very much. If this is the case simply try to wait until the enemy does the jump action for you and win the Assault Gauge quick-time event if you can. Once your at Ki Blast distance begin building your Ki Meter and dodging the big Ki Blasts the enemy will launch at you. Once it's full you will begin wailing on the enemy with your Ki Blast's until you get a 2.0x combo at which point you want to use your second Super Attack (if your using Kid Buu as I suggested just raise your right arm upwards). You then repeat this process. Now once you have done it a second time you might still be short of the total you need (1,333,334 points) so I suggest doing the same thing again but this time you don't need to build your Combo Meter up and if your close enough you can use your first Special Attack (which nets roughly 120,000).

Notes: If during any of the parts you do at a longer distance from the enemy (i.e Ki Blast range), the enemy decides to use the jump option to get closer to you, first win the Assault Gauge quick-time event and then you should still have the option to jump, do this as quickly as you can and win the quick-time event again and continue the process from where you got to, except with a little more of a combo now. Be careful of small red Ki Blasts these will instantly reset your Combo Meter and move rather fast, enemies normally fire them at the same time as they move so watch closely. If the enemy uses their Super Attack during any of this and you have the option, always dodge (right most option) - interrupting takes up more Ki and benefits you in no way.

  • You won without taking any damage in Score Attack mode on Hard.

You can't take any damage at all with this, even if you use the QR code that stops your health going down, Taking damage will still count. However there are a few good strategies for this one. Either way your going to want to fight Raditz (Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Raditz) and obviously set the difficulty to Hard.

    Bardock 20x Kaioken Method:
For this one your going to want to scan in the QR code for Bardock Super Saiyan (although any character with A-rank attack will work), then scan in the code for 20x Kaioken. From here begin the battle and immediately dodge left. This is where things become more luck based, but your looking to charge your Ki Meter up enough that you can jump (indicated when the box appears above the Ki Meter). Basically you want to hope that Raditz will block, which will give you the time to charge it enough. I had the most success when the battle started in the air. Once you are in the quick-time event where you must melee enough to fill the bar (hopefully succeed otherwise you'll need to restart) you should be far enough away that you have time to charge your bar halfway and use Bardock's first Super Attack, if you do manage it will 1 hit kill Raditz!

    Kid Buu Unleash Ki Method:
For this you want to read in both the QR codes for Kid Buu and for Unleash Ki. The reason for choosing Kid Buu is that Bardock's Super Attack often seems to be hard as hell to pull off as they require odd arm and leg placement and Kinect doesn't want to play ball most of the time. Another reason is that Kid Buu's second Super Attack is easy to pull off quickly, but you can choose anyone you want for this method really, although someone with A-rank attack would be preferred, if you don't want to use Kid Buu. What you want to do is as soon as the fight starts, dodge left and then raise your hand up (or the appropriate gesture for your second Super Attack). Dodging left should give you enough time to pull off your Super Attack. As soon as one Super Attack is done you'll be at Ki Blast range and should be golden. Just keep spamming Super Attack's and you should be done soon enough.

Notes: On Hard you'll likely find the enemy countering your Super with their own. It's much harder to fill the Assault Gauge on this difficulty so be aware and try to start punching when you see the the camera move to Raditz the second time so that it starts filling up a little bit sooner rather than waiting for the Gauge to appear. Another thing to note is that to do more damage with your Super Attacks you need to hit it when the icon lights up with the square around it. Finally you can't win with a normal attack on Hard (e.g. using a Ki Blast when the enemy has 100 health) as it will only go down to a minimum of 1.

  • You won without taking any damage in Score Attack mode on Normal.

Stacks with “...This Is Super Saiyan 3”.

  • You won without taking any damage in Score Attack mode.

Stacks with “...This Is Super Saiyan 3”.

  • You won without ever taking damage from an enemy Super Attack.

Stacks with “...This Is Super Saiyan 3”.

  • You finished the enemy with a Super Attack and won 10 times.

Refer to “Super Attack Master” on the best way to get build up and use Super Attack and just make sure that you win the fight using your Super Attack. The simplest method is to use the QR code for Bardock Super Saiyan and the code for 20x Kaioken. From here go to Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Raditz. Set the difficulty to easy, charge up the Ki Meter halfway then use Bardock's Super Attack, it will 1 hit kill any enemy (seriously).

  • You intercepted the enemy's Super Attack.

For this you will need your Ki Meter to be at least halfway full and wait until the enemy attacks with a Super Attack. You can refer to “Evasion Expert” for a strategy to best fill your meter, or alternatively use the QR code 'Unleash Ki' to have a permanently full Ki Meter. This is really just a waiting game but when the opponent does use a Super Attack, you want to do the left choice which will require you to take the stance of the top Super Attack of the character you're using.

  • You deflected 20 enemy Ki Blasts in a single fight.

Go to the Kid Buu 2 fight (Score Attack > Majin Buu Saga > Kid Buu 2). Make sure the difficulty is set to easy (although there isn't much difference for this fight) and either attempt to get to Ki Blast range or wait until Buu decided to do it for you. From here just wait until Buu fires Ki Blasts and swing your right arm outwards, trying to time it right. This achievement can be very frustrating as Kinect often won't want to recognise the fact that you're doing the move in the first place and the game seems to just randomly decided when it wants to deflect rather than it begin something you can really time.

  • You stored up the maximum amount of Ki with Ki Charge.

The description is very vague, and possibly misleading. For this achievement you must charge your
Ki Meter from zero to max in one go, without taking damage, with Ki Charge. The best method seems to be the following: Go to Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Saibamen (although Raditz will work equally as well). Set the difficulty to easy and begin the battle. From here do literally nothing except wait until the Saibamen activates the jumping Assault Gauge quick-time event when this happens take the Ki Charge stance. When the quick-time event is over you should be at Ki Blast range, and immediately begin charging your Ki Meter, if all goes well it should unlock.

Notes: The reason behind not attacking is that if you succeed in the quick-time events you will get a small amount of Ki, so just avoid doing anything. Also the timing on this is ridiculously close to failure, so if your not fast enough at beginning the Ki Charge, you will fail. To reset your Ki Meter either restart the fight or charge it to full and use your Super Attack but fail to hit with it. At this point your meter will reset to zero and you will be back to the Ki Blast distance.

  • You blocked 10 enemy Super Attacks

For this achievement simply wait until the enemy uses his Special Attack then lift your arms up to 'block'. If you have more than one option when the enemy uses his Special Attack, it's the middle option. One strategy that may work is this: Go to Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Raditz. Set the difficulty to easy. Once in the fight, charge your Ki Meter until the box above the Ki Meter appears, it will show a character jumping, follow suit and jump when this appears. You will enter an Assault Gauge quick-time event, you can pass or fail this if you want but either way you will now be far away from Raditz. He seems more likely to use his Special Attack under these conditions, so basically just keep waiting until he launches an attack. You can turn on the Eternal Youth QR code if you like to avoid dying.

  • You dodged 10 enemy Super Attacks.

In order to be able to dodge you will first need to charge your Ki Meter to 25%. There are two ways to do this, one with QR codes and one without.

    Non-QR Code Method:
Make sure your difficulty is set to easy and that you are fighting Raditz (Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Raditz). Pick any character (preferable one with more health) then charge up your Ki Meter until you get the option to jump (located above the Ki Meter), once you have jumped and done the Assault Gauge thing, immediately begin charging your Ki Meter. I would suggest filling it as much as you can rather than just 25%. From here just avoid taking as much damage as possible while not attacking, and eventually (possibly after some time) Raditz will launch his Super Attack, at this point lean to your left and it should dodge. Just repeat this process and you should get it eventually.

    QR Code Method:
You have two choices here, you can use the QR code for Unleash Ki, which will give you a maxed out Ki Meter permanently or Eternal Youth, which will mean your health never goes down. If you use Unleash Ki, you might be best to turn the difficulty up, which should hopefully increase how often Raditz will use his super attack, although you are more likely to die quickly, so if that is happening just adjust the difficulty to suit. Regardless of difficulty it is basically just a matter of waiting for him to use it. For the Eternal Youth method, just turn the difficulty to easy and charge your Ki Meter as often as you can (possibly refer to the Non-QR Method on getting some distance) and wait until he uses his Super Attack. As long as you never attack Raditz, and fail everything except dodging his Super Attack, the battle will never finish, so just go until you get the achievement.

  • You pulled off 50 Super Attacks.

In order to pull off a Super Attack you must charge your Ki Meter either halfway or fully. Your Super Attacks will be different depending on your character. There are two ways to do this, one with QR codes and one without. Either way make sure your difficulty is set to easy and that you are fighting Raditz (Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Raditz).

    Non-QR Code Method:
If you want to use the non-QR code method then do the follow: charge your Ki Meter until you get the box that motions you to jump (located above the Ki Meter), when this option appears immediately jump. If Kinect wants to play ball, you will have to building up an Assault Gauge to win the quick-time event. Whether you succeed or fail at filling the Assault Gauge, you will now be in Ki Blast range from Raditz. From here charge your meter halfway (make sure to avoid the big Ki Blasts the enemy launches at you, if he does) and then launch your first Super Attack (when I say first I mean the one in the middle of the Meter). Once your super attack is over, you will still be at the same range. Continue this process as many times as necessary. It will only count if you suceed in hitting the opponent with the Super Attack, so if it says 'failed' it doesn't count.

    QR Code Method:
Use the QR code for Kid Buu (unless you have already unlocked him) and the QR code for a permanently full Ki Meter (listed as Unleash Ki). Now just go into the fight and take the stance for Kid Buu's Super Attack (holding your right arm straight up). Then just repeat that step every chance you get and you should have it in no time (obviously the fight will end so just restart and repeat the process).

  • You pulled off 20 Super Attacks.

    Refer to “Super Attack Master

  • You used 10 Super Attacks.

    Refer to “Super Attack Master

  • You pulled off a 100 hit combo.

This will likely come with natural progression, however one easy way to get it is to go into Score Attack > Saiyan Saga > Raditz. From here just wail on Raditz with punches, building up the Assault Gauge, which, when full, will trigger the Assault Combo sequence. When the Assault Combo is over you will be slightly away from Raditz, lean forward repeatedly until your close enough to repeat the process of wailing on him. Make sure the difficulty is set to Easy, and Raditz should stand around long enough for you to do this quite easily.
