|Learn all three words of Soul Tear|
You remember Durnehviir the dragon from the beyond death quest? In your conversation with him on your way to leave the Soul Cairn he gives you a shout to be able to summon him in Tamriel. Buy all three words of the shout.
Now each time you summon him in Tamriel he will teach you a word for a shout called soul tear. Summon him 3 times and the achievements yours. The shout must be aimed at the ground while charging the shout otherwise it will not summon him.
The main issue unlocking this achievement is finding a spot to summon him in. Since he needs to be able to fit uninterrupted. The windmills by whiterun worked for me and others aswell the area across the water from Harkon's castle. Also make sure to charge up the shout otherwise it won't summon him.

This achievment is not too difficult. when in the soul cairn you must kill a dragon. After leaving the area where you face the dragon, he will be alive once more but will speak to you. he teaches you how to summon him and asks you to do it in tamriel. Once in tamriel you must summon him three times, each time he will teach you a word of the shout. dragon souls are still required to unlock the shout afterwards however.

It's glitches for me, every time I try to Shout to call him, it just stops at the last word. Went to the Soul Cairn and still didn't seem to have worked. I called him once but can't get the other 2 words. :(

When you summon him, make sure that you aim at an area of ground in front of you, it summons him as if he was a magical rune. Make sure the area is pretty clear as well, I spawned him once and he died from 2 mammoths before he told me one of the words.

For those who have it glitches on them aim at the ground and use the first part of the shout. Then let your shout recharge for about 5 seconds then use the second part of the shout by holding the shout button a little longer. Wait 5 seconds then use the full shout at you feet. He will come and teach you the shout. Now wait 2 hours and repeat shouldn't take but 5 minutes.

This is VERY easy. As others have said, make sure you face the ground and have a lot of space. After you do it the first time, just wait about 3 hours, then you can do it again. Do this once more and there's the achievement. Done.

So, When he tried talking to me. I told him I had other things to do and he said we would talk later.
So, I hopped up on the rock he was on and smashed him. I didn't know it was achievement related!
I went back to the soul cairn and am just wondering around aimlessly looking for him. Anyone know if I can find him again or am I screwed?

@birdshake, I had the same problem. Once I saw him the second time I instantly took out my bow and killed him before he had the chance to talk to me. Luckily later, after I beat the Dawnguard DLC, I reverted to a save I had right before I encountered him the first time. I let him talk to me and summoned him 3 times and learned all three words. Conveniently I had 21 unused dragon souls. I ended up just going back for the achievement so on the save I'm currently playing on he is still dead. I'd like to be able to summon him later on, so if anyone knows how to find him after killing him both times you see him, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Just a warning: I pressed X to unlock all three parts of the shout before even using it, and I'm 90% sure it completely fucked up my progress towards this. I literally cannot summon him.

Just a little piece of knowledge. Once you have learned all three words you can summon him and he will fight for you. Unlike the other summon dragon shout, he will stay around until killed. I figured I'd share this since I just figured it out. I never thought to summon him after he taught me the shout. Also, you can summon him and quick "wait" before he arrives to eliminate the long cooldown.

In my exp when the dragon appeared for the second time, I had my weapon drawn so when he was perched on the rock Serana just started attacking him and I followed. I didn't know that he gave away an achievement until now. Luckily I got a save right before I find Serana's mother. Too bad I've got all but 2 perks left in the vampire tree, and have completed the lost in the ages quest, wasn't too hard but damn now I gotta go back. Damn it!

I have tried unlocking just the first word as well as all three words to summon him-nothing. I realized that the aura put out for the call is blue instead of purple. It seems to be using a different shout instead of the one I have selected. I have triple-cheked that I am using the proper shout. Very frustrating! Any ideas?

Update: I just figured out I wasn't holding the button long enough to summon him. Hope this helps.

@18. Same thing for me. Also I did it at the top of the Throat of the World with no issues.

So... I tried to go back into Soul Cairn to look for that new horse, but for some reason it won't let me in. I can literally stand at the bottom of that staircase/portal leading to it and nothing happens. I am not a vampire if that makes any difference. Any ideas?

This achievement is glitched for me, i've never summoned him in Tamriel yet i already have the words. I tried to summon him and he never came, so i unlocked the words with dragon souls to see if the achievement would pop and only then he appeared to teach me the words but i did not get the achievement. I hope they fix this.

For people having problems like i was, unlock all the words of the "Summon Durnehviir" shout, only then he will come. Don't forget to aim to the ground as well.

At the end of Beyond Death, Durnehviir will attack you.
Continue the main quest, and he will intercept you. Impossible to miss, really.
Summon him multiple times.

When you summon him and he gives you a word, press the "back" button and wait for 2 hours. That is the fastest way to recharge your Thu'um meter.
