Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 Achievements

Island Liberator

Liberate all outposts.

There are a total of 34 Outposts scattered across the islands. The Outposts are the strongholds for Vass's/Hoyt's men and control certain areas of the map (shown in red) and are represented by a Flag icon. Taking over an Outpost clears the surrounding area of the enemy AI.

To clear the an Outpost, you must dispose of all the enemy AI inside and around it. This can vary from 3 guys, to 5 and some guard dogs. Your best bet is to use a stealth like tactic, as if they sound the alarm (which you can disable) more guards will come to assist.

Most outposts are extremely simple if you just: 1. sneak in and turn off the alarms first. 2. Shoot off the cage doors of the animals and 3. Run away and watch from a distance.

Just make sure liberate at least 2 outposts totally undetected, in order not to lose the fully inked achievement (30G). As quoted by Tayloroids as below.

For Ninja Step (under The Spider), you need to liberate 2 outposts without being detected. You could miss this achievement if you liberated all outposts whilst being detected every time.

Outposts are probably my favorite part of the game. So many different ways to do each one, and the reward of a new fast travel/store location makes it even better.

Anyone know of a way to reset outposts and recapture them as this was by far my favorite part of the game?

@4 No you'd have to start a new game.

Most of the outposts are very simple. Find a good vantage point, scout out with the camera. Always keep a suppressed sniper or a bow w/ plenty of arrows... Also helps to have good aim ;). Depending on the amount/type of enemy (heavy, normal, snipers). Take out snipers first if you can, they will always be a pain if you get caught. Invest in the skill that allows you to take down heavies. Stay in the bushes as stealth is your best friend... If you do get caught before you can disable the alarm, there is a short time period before they call in reinforcements, so book it there if you can. I could go on and on with tips for this game.

I have just made my way onto the 2nd Island and stopped short of 'the undercover bit' (simplified description to avoid spoilers). Once you go undercover does it still allow you liberate the remaining (southern) outposts or do you have to do them prior to the undercover works?
Thanks in advance, K.

Easiest way I've found to disable alarms is just to shoot them with my silenced sniper rifle. Then you can just snipe every guard and keep backing up so you aren't detected.

I agree that this is great aspect of the game. Love the challenge of taking out the outposts.

I loved shooting the cages to release the animals haha the best way is to glide in like a trooper land by the alarm and knife the alarm and use the exsposive arrows on anyone in sight.

This is not unlocking for me even though I have liberated all the outposts. Anyone else got that too?

Good fun to let the reinforcements arrive too, takes a good bit longer to take the outposts!

Haven't got this yet, but i agree with the general feeling that this is a great part of the experience. Esspesially if they have a caged tiger there.

Caged tiger was a blast. Killed three pirates, then gave me my first tiger pelt. Tigers: the gift that keeps on giving!
