Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 Achievements

Archeology 101

Gather a total of 60 relics.

There's a total of 120 Relic scattered about the islands, but for this achievement you'll only need 60. The Relics come in 4 forms and each form varies on its location and difficulty to find. Some will be out at sea and/or under water, while others will be up in the hills.

As you play through the game and unlock new Radio Towers, you'll notice an Urn like icon on you map. These are the Relics. You can also buy Treasure Maps from stores to help you unlock their locations. Now simply locate and grab 60 of them for the achievement to unlock.

There are 120 relics, but you can buy maps to reveal them. It's just a matter of hunting them down.

Is this like Uncharted's Treasures or Far Cry 2's Diamonds?

By that I mean, are they all different in appearance or are they a specific item, like the Diamonds in Far Cry 2 or the Hidden Packages in Grand Theft Auto 3?

There are 4 types of them. A shark, boar, heron and a spider. All made of stone.

Does anyone know if you get anything for collecting all 120? It doesn't seem like it since there is no star at the end on the tracker guide, and I don't want to waste my time if there is no reason.

I don't think you get anything as an actual reward, as far as I know at least, I think it just goes towards 100% completion if you get them all, and you fill more dots on the tattoo. I'm pretty sure that's it anyway.

Though that's pretty boring, I'm also rather thankful it is.

All you have to do is buy the item maps for all the places. Then it will show all the relics on the map. Just fast travel to locations where there is a lot of them close together if possible and keep collecting them until you reach 60 and the achievement. generally a lot of them are in caves.

I was looking for the answer to:
"I keep getting to places that have this "weird" door with a symbol that looks like a 9 in a circle... and i have to get past this door for the relic... what do i have to do to get past them?"

as well. Does anyone know how to open those doors. They are throughout the game. Thanks

This is by far the hardest achievement the game has to offer. All the other achievements are easily obtained just by playing throughout the game, but this takes time. Took me a good 4 hrs after finishing. Advice: Finish the campaign, buy all the maps that show items, not loot (unless you want loads of cash to buy nothing?:P), then go round the outskirts of both islands collecting the ones under water or on little islands. These stack up fast! Then go get the other ones around the shores or near outposts. The ones in thick, high jungle often have hidden entrances and can be a pain. Good Luck! :)

This was relatively easy, it's just tedious and boring. Few tips though, always look for black markings on your mini map. Those indicate cave entrances and they lead to the nearby relic.

If you come across a door with a symbol on it, throw some C4 or a Frag grenade at it to blow it open.

What i've done to make it easy on myself is to buy the maps and clear every radio "zone" before i move on to the next one. That gives me a chance to complete everything while I run around hunting the collectibles. So far I am at 35 statues and 6 letters/usb's

There's one relic I can't find that's inside a waterfall.

I like the way they made a collectible achievement somewhat enjoyable to get. They didn't make us get all of them and I enjoy trying to figure out how to get to some of them.

If it wasn't for the achievement, this would have gone nowhere for me.

I used this link to help me find all the relics I needed. While some of them are not completely accurate with the right coordinates, it's still within one or two coordinate points.

You can also just use a shotgun on the stone doors blocking access to the relics.

Couple of tips , Always tag a relic you are after with a way point as it gives you the height of it's location aswell as distance.
Where caves are easily identifiable with a black mark on the map some underwater caves aren't Look for a trail of blue leaves that mark the route like breadcrumbs!
