Rock Always Wins
|Fully distract 25 enemies with rocks (Single Player only).|
To distract an enemy, make sure you're within distance and press to throw a rock. If the rock lands within the right area, the enemy NPC will get distracted and walk to the spot where the rock landed. You now need to make sure that you do not attack him and let him walk away. Killing him before he starts to walk off, will void the distraction and not count towards achievement. Through the whole game you should be distracting enemies to get them into vulnerable positions, so this should unlock in no time.

It means to throw a rock and make the pirate go and search the area and then he has to return to his original spot. That counts as one.

How do you see how many you have? is this tracked? I cant find it in the handbook.

@4 Thanx I figured it out.
@5 No its not tracked you have to go off your own count.
You can use the same guy all 25 times.
Also killing him does NOT count.

Got this at the "Playing The Spoiler" mission.I approached the gate where the pirate is sitting on the ground and hide in the undergrowth and threw a rock then waited until he sat down then repeated over and over until the achievement popped.

This one seems kinda stupid if you ask me. Why would anyone want to fully distract an enemy?! I mean if you throw a rock to distract them its most likely to get them to move so you can get past them or turn so you can perform a takedown, which both of those would not count because you have to wait until they go back to their original position to count as one. To me this achievement makes as much sense as me going to the store just turn around and go home. Pointless. Anyone feel the same? Some achievements are not thought through enough...

I find enemies who are sitting down or crouching to look under something are best as it's obvious when they're in their original position. You know you've got their attention as they'll say something like "What was that noise?" or "It came from over there" etc. And you'll know they're heading back to their original spot as they'll say something like "It was nothing" or "Guess I heard wrong".

Does anyone know a good spot to do this when you have done all the main missions and outposts? I have finished them all and am struggling to find any enemies. Help!

Go to "The Compound" on the southern island after finishing the game and you will find a few privatiers searching around.

There are pirates located on the island where the doctor's house is once you have completed the game and have no alternative ways to find enemies. Grid reference: X:365 Y:698
Its a small bay with 8 or so pirates and hostages that can be freed for money, additionally there is a cave and once you go into it and walk to the end and back out into the bay all of the pirates respawn

You do not have to wait for the person you are distracting to go back to their original position when going for this you only have to wait for them to start walking back to their original position and then you can throw again as my achievement popped when the person turned round and started walking back.

another way to do this is just do a wanted dead quest and toss it into a group of enemies then watch them all look at the same spot and go back. repeat until you hit 25

when they visit the rock site, and then return to their base position. best with on that doesn't roam. much easier to tell when they back in normal spot

i got this today, it glitched though. I was doing it on an enemy and when he went over to the rock i got it, I don't think he has to go back, idk though i'm just happy i got it

This is seriously pissing me off. The guards at the past 4 outposts were all on alert before I even came within detection range, fired a shot, or anything. It's really frustrating because once their map markers turn orange they are permanently on alert and you CAN'T distract them with rocks. I seem to be the only one with this problem, I've tried reloading a save, leaving the outpost and coming back a day later (in game) all with no result. I havent seen a white (un-alerted) enemy marker in 4 hours of playing. I hoped it was just me not being stealthy enough but not once have i seen the white detection meter above the enemies' heads and I haven't been sprinting or making any noise. Anyone got any ideas? is it possible to distract them while they are alerted even though they don't investig

Just got this, I farmed the distractions while i was doing a wanted: dead quest. If they spot you just let them kill you and it resets your quite close to the area where all the enemies are.
ALL guards can be distracted 3 times before they get on high alert (make sure that once you throw the rock they RETURN TO THEIR ORIGINAL POSTITION that they were in before you threw the rock.
Once you distract 3 times or if you get spotted, die/kill yourself to reset It Doesn't matter if they come up as red on the map after dieing, they still aren't alerted per say, not sure if it's a glitch or what but Just keep trying and you'll get it eventually.

I should note that I don't think the guard needs to return to the original position. I think they need to head there though. I don't think I *ever* let a guard return to their original position after throwing a rock, and got it on my 3rd planned attempt, right after the guy inspected the place where it fell and said "it's nothing." and turned around to head back.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Was wondering how I did not already have this achievement after taking over ~10 outposts already.
Note: My last 4 distractions were farmed from enemies walking in the street while I as in red/hostile territory. Enemies who walk do not have an original position, so I agree with the commenters who said the enemies only have to make a comment and then turn around to go back to where they came from.

I feel like I've completed this many times over, yet still haven't completed it. Sure would be nice if there was a counter for this instead of just guessing what is successful and what isn't.
