Introduction:
Welcome to the third instalment of the Far Cry series. As Jason Brody, alone on a tropical island, you will have to confront the dark side of humanity. Gamers will be impelled to act as he learns more about the horror and corruption that is taking place on the island.

NOTE:
There seems to be an issue when playing Coop and when unlocking the story based achievements linked to it. Sometimes they unlock, while in other circumstances sometimes they don't. For more information, please go HERE.

Playthroughs:
The game should only take you one whole playthrough to complete and this includes the added addition of the coop missions. They are pretty straight forward and aren't too tasking. It's quite a delight to play. As you play through the game, main and side missions will become available to you as well as WANTED Dead, Path of the Hunter, Supply Drop quests and Trial of the Rakyat. When these do, you'll want to complete these before the main missions as added XP is gained and adds to your advantage plus towards further achievements. The game is made up of a few story related achievements that can't be missed, so don't worry about these. They will unlock as you progress through the main missions. The rest shouldn't cause you any other issues, so overall the game is a easy 1000.

Coop:
Playing the coop missions is very similar to the main story, but you will be playing with a friend(s). You have a route before you that you must take and objectives given to you. You can also complete these missions via split-screen, so don't worry if you can't find a friend to join you via LIVE.

Miscellaneous:
There're plenty of miscellaneous achievements in Far Cry 3. Some you can get early on, while others will require you to uncover the island to reach certain spots. As well as that, some again will require certain weapons, equipment and so forth.

Collectibles:
You've been let off lightly with these achievements, as for one set (Relics), you don't have to collect all 120. Grabbing all the collectables in the game or the set amount required isn't too hard. Though there's a bit of traveling involved, each one will soon been shown on you map.

Conclusion:
Overall the game is not hard at all and quite a lot of fun to 100%. Difficulty does not matter, so feel free to put it on the lowest or the hardest one depending on your skill.

There are 50 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Freefall more than 100m and live (Single Player only).

Throughout the game you'll come across gliders which are in most cases on the high hills of the island. Only a few of these though are high enough to reach the 100m mark. The earliest and best one is on the upper left side of the island which you'll head over to early on in the game. Head to these coordinates - X: 442.4, Y: 651.1 - to find the glider. Now grab hold of it with and glide out to the water in front of you.

Don't move the gliders position and just head straight. Keep looking down with the until you're over the water and when you're in a good position, hold to drop from the sky. Once you hit the water, the achievement will unlock.

  • Earn 5 skill tattoos.

Please refer to "Fully Inked" for more details.

  • Earn every tattoo by learning all the skills.

To earn every Tattoo (Tatau), you'll need to earn XP by playing through the game. XP can be gained by completing missions, doing side tasks like the WANTED Dead/Path of the Hunter, taking over Outposts or Crafting. For each time you level up, as shown in the Skill menu, you'll receive 1 Skill Point to use.

Not all Skills will be available to you from the start and some will only unlock once you've progressed in the main story or completed certain objectives.

If by chance you have taken over all Outposts in the game but have not completed the Skills objectives. You can reset them all by going into the games options menu.

  • Spend $5000 at the shop.

This should come naturally as you play through the game. Even if the guns become free due to you taking over Outposts, each one will have something you can buy to customise it. This is accumulative, so you not have to spend $5000 all in one go.

  • Buy all attachments and paint jobs for one weapon.

You can do this quite early on in the game and all you need is $1200 in your wallet. Your starting gun, the 1911, only has 6 camouflages to buy worth $200 each. Once you have the money to hand, head to a shop or your Outpost locker. Select the 1911 and then press again to 'Customise'. Now buy all 6 camouflages and the achievement will unlock. This method is one of the fasted and cheapest to do.

  • Liberate 3 outposts.

Please refer to "Island Liberator" for more details.

  • Liberate all outposts.

There are a total of 34 Outposts scattered across the islands. The Outposts are the strongholds for Vass's/Hoyt's men and control certain areas of the map (shown in red) and are represented by a Flag icon. Taking over an Outpost clears the surrounding area of the enemy AI.

To clear the an Outpost, you must dispose of all the enemy AI inside and around it. This can vary from 3 guys, to 5 and some guard dogs. Your best bet is to use a stealth like tactic, as if they sound the alarm (which you can disable) more guards will come to assist.

  • Liberate an outpost without triggering an alarm.

This is best done on the first few Outposts you come across. Mainly because they're made of few guards and are easy pickings. To liberate an Outpost with any alerts you must take the stealth route to killing everyone. You'll need to make sure the enemy AI does not spot you and this is pointed out by the white arrow at the top of your screen. If this fills up all the way to the sides and guard starts to shout and shoot at you, you've been spotted. This also counts if the alarm is set off.

The first thing to go is to find an advantage point near the Outpost and use your camera to tag all the AI in the area. This way you can keep track of them all. Once that's done, make your way around it distracting each guy with your rocks one-by-one. When they get close, either make sure you're hiding in some bushes or on a corner and press to do a takedown.

Using your gun should be out of the picture here, as it'll alert more guards to your spot. Just take your time and this should be quite easy. If by chance you have taken over all Outposts in the game but have not completed the Skills objectives. You can reset them all by going into the games options menu.

  • Activate 9 radio towers.

There's a total of 18 Radio Towers, but you only need to take over 9 for this achievement, which is pretty easy, though you will be unlocking them all as you pay through the game. The Towers are located by the Radio Tower icon on the map. Simply head to one and you'll then need to reach the top by climbing up it. Doing so, you'll be awarded with your map being uncovered and a new gun being free from any store.

There are no enemy AI involved with these, you simply must find your way to the top of 9 for the achievement to unlock.

  • Gather a total of 60 relics.

There's a total of 120 Relic scattered about the islands, but for this achievement you'll only need 60. The Relics come in 4 forms and each form varies on its location and difficulty to find. Some will be out at sea and/or under water, while others will be up in the hills.

As you play through the game and unlock new Radio Towers, you'll notice an Urn like icon on you map. These are the Relics. You can also buy Treasure Maps from stores to help you unlock their locations. Now simply locate and grab 60 of them for the achievement to unlock.

  • Gather all "Letters of the Lost".

There's a total of 20 Letters of the Lost scattered about the islands. The Letters normal locations are in bunkers or near old artillery sites.

As you play through the game and unlock new Radio Towers, you'll notice a Letter icon on you map. These are the Letters of the Lost. You can also buy Treasure Maps from stores to help you unlock their locations. Now simply locate and grab all 20 Letters from the dead bodies for the achievement to unlock.

  • Gather all the memory cards.

There's a total of 20 Memory Cards on the islands and all are within the Outposts you liberate. In each new Outpost, you'll have your own building where you can stock up on equipment. If you then look closely on the map, over some Outpost buildings you will notice a Computer Chip icon (Like the one in the achievement tile).

Head inside of your building and inside you'll see a laptop. Simply grab this by holding and the Memory Chip will be yours. Now keep liberating Outpost to find the rest.

  • Unlock 50 entries in the Survivor Guide.

I wouldn't worry too much about this achievement as it'll come naturally as you play. Your Survivors Guide holds all information you gather as you play through the game. So characters, items, collectables, animals etc. Simply play the game as it intends you to and as you do all of the above and much more, new entries will unlock.

There a lot more than 50 in the game, so again you should no problems unlocking this achievement.

  • Complete a Path of the Hunter quest.

After liberating an Outpost, these will become available to you via the news board in the same Outpost. The Path of the Hunter quests are shown to you via a Blue Dear icon. These are small side quests that task you with killing a certain animal with a specific weapon.

Accept the mission, and you'll then be directed to pick up the weapon at a set location and from there, you'll need to use it to kill the animal. Killing the animal and then skinning it will result in you completing the mission.

  • Complete a Supply Drop quest.

After liberating an Outpost and accessing new Radio Towers, these will become available to you via random locations on the map. The Supply Drop quests are shown to you via a Blue Plus icon. These quests are a checkpoint race, where you need to deliver the medic kit to a set location.

At the start, you'll be given a vehicle and then you'll need to drive and follow the smoke checkpoints to the destination. You'll want to get there as fast as possible as you're also given a time limit. Most of these are pretty easy to finish on time, but some are a little harder due to the terrain you have to cover. Just take each part carefully and don't put your foot down in hilly or bumpy areas.

  • Complete a WANTED Dead quest.

After liberating an Outpost, these will become available to you the a news board in the same Outpost. The WANTED Dead quests are shown to you via a Blue Skull icon. These are small side quests that task you with killing a enemy AI but with your knife.

Accept the mission, and you'll then be directed to a set location where the enemy is. Remember to scan the areas first tagging each person so you can find the target (shown by the Gold Star icon). Remember that he must be taken down by your knife but there are a few other ways.

Later on you can buy a Skill where you can take down an enemy and then if you're aiming at another NPC, you press to throw their knife, thus getting another instant kill. Doing this on the target also counts. The other is if your friendly NPC's (Rakyat) join in the fight. If they somehow get into a fire-fight and kill him by gun, this counts as a completing the quest.

  • Beat any Trial of the Rakyat score.

Trial of the Rakyat are shown to you via a Star icon. These are small Trials that task you with a variety of challenges. Each one is different and has it's own unique set score you can try and beat.

There's a few around the islands, but you only need to complete one, so feel free to pick and play anyone you feel is the best option for you.

  • Win $1500 playing poker.

After liberating certain Outposts, Poker will become available to play in certain little villages or towns. The Poker locations are shown to you via a Black Spade (card shape) icon. For this achievement you do not have to win $1500 all in one game or session. It's accumulative over the course of the game, so feel free to play when you can.

To win decent money, you're going to want to play the $250 buy-in games. Now to actually win profit money, you'll need to get over that $250 buy-in. So if you leave a game with $251 in your games bank, then you've made $1 and have $1499 to get.

The game of Poker isn't too hard to play and there are helpful note pages you can refer to if you need help. Sometimes you'll lose a few times in a row, while others you'll get a good hand and can be up to $750! It's based on luck and how you pay. If you also watch the video below, there's a nice little trick to try out for easy winnings.

To see your current earnings, head to you Handbook and press to go to the Statistics. Now scroll down to World and it'll be under there.

  • Lure and kill a predator.

The animals that count towards this achievement are anything that will attack you - Komodo Dragons, Sharks, Wild Dogs, Tigers and so forth. You can tell if it's a predator by tagging it and if the Teeth icon is show above their head, it means they'll attack. Just look for their locations on your map to find their roaming spots.

Once you've found one, make sure it starts to head towards you and in an attacking mode. Now kill it by whatever means you see fit and the achievement will unlock.

  • Hunt and skin a rare animal.

The rare animals are linked to the Path of the Hunter quests. When looking at the poster on the board, some will have a rare stamp across them in red. These quests are no different than the normal versions, other than the animal is slightly different colour wise.

Again, make sure you kill and skin the animal as later one its hide will be used to craft the last object of certain equipment.

  • Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment.

To craft a new item for your equipment, you'll need a certain amount of animal hides. Head into the Crafting menu and look through your equipment. Each one will tell you how many hides of a certain animal you need and how many you currently have in stock.

With this information, head out into the wild and start your hunt. Craft any 5 new equipment and the achievement will unlock.

  • Craft 25 syringes.

Crafting syringes requires plants. These are scattered all over the islands, and are impossible to miss. The best and easiest ones to craft are the Medicine as they only require 1 Green plant. If you have anything else to hand that can be crafted into any other type of syringe, then you might as well use it.

Overall, this achievement will come naturally as you progress through the game. A good boosting tactic is to stock up on Green plants and find a predator animal. Let it attack you, then press and hold to heal yourself. Keep doing this and when you run out, go craft some more and then repeat the process.

  • Craft a special syringe.

The Special Syringe can only be made and crafted once you've found and collected 30 Relics. Once you've collected 30 Relics the Untouchable Syringe will become available for you to craft. Crafting one requires 2 White plants, 5 Blue plants and 5 Green plants.

Once you've got them, head into the Crafting menu and make the new syringe for the achievement to unlock.

  • Find the lost Hollywood star.

This achievement can be located at these coordinates X: 619.7, Y: 559.4 on the main island. It'll be easier to get later on in the game when you've unlocked more of the island, but it can be obtained at any point.

Once you've reached the location, look for the bodies hanging from the tree. A little to the left side of them (back to the water) and buried into the sand you should look out for a head popping out of the sand. Head over to it, then press and hold on the head to unlock the achievement.

  • Kill 50 enemies with the flamethrower (Single Player only).

The Flamethrower can be found under the Specials menu when at a shop for a cost of $2400 or you can wait for it to become free by unlocking more Radio Towers. If you have the money, buy it and if you have any spare I'd purchase the upgrade for it as well. Now all you need to do is kill 50 enemies with it. The weapon itself is pretty good but you need to get in nice and close for it to really work. Though once you do set someone alight with it, it'll kill them in no time. One burst should do the job.

This is best used on Outposts. Let the alarm ring out, and you'll have a new group of enemies to kill. Take note that this only works on enemy NPCs. Killing animals does not add to the counter but you can provoke your Rakyat friends to attack you and doing so will then make them count as kills. To see how many kills you've earned, head into your Handbook and press to see your Statistics. Scroll down to Kills and you'll find it there.

  • Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with one explosion (Single Player only).

This can be unlocked with any weapon or equipment that gives of an explosion, so don't be nailed down by one thing. Personally the best is the RPG-7 which can be found at any store under the Launchers menu or obtained for free by unlocking Radio Towers. Now for the best chance at getting this, head to any un-liberated Outpost. Once you arrive, make sure you get caught and the enemy NPCs set off the alarm. Now wait out the battle until the reinforcements arrive. Keep an eye on the map of the location they're coming in from and wait there. Once they arrive, it'll be a convoy of 2 vehicles and it's the second one you're going to want to shoot with your RPG-7.

If you get the hit, the vehicle holds 4 enemy NPCs and the they'll all die and the achievement will unlock.

  • Fully distract 25 enemies with rocks (Single Player only).

To distract an enemy, make sure you're within distance and press to throw a rock. If the rock lands within the right area, the enemy NPC will get distracted and walk to the spot where the rock landed. You now need to make sure that you do not attack him and let him walk away. Killing him before he starts to walk off, will void the distraction and not count towards achievement. Through the whole game you should be distracting enemies to get them into vulnerable positions, so this should unlock in no time.

Take note that some enemies like the snipers sometimes do not get distracted. Also, each enemy has about 3 distractions before they start to look elsewhere in the area. So don't throw all 3 in quick succession.

  • Tag 25 enemies using the camera (Single Player only).

To tag an enemy, get out your camera by pressing . Now press if you need to zoom into the enemies location. If you hover over them with camera, an orange icon will pop up above their head. This now means they're tagged. Do this to another 24 enemies and the achievement will unlock.

  • Dive more than 60m (Single Player only).

You'll first need to play a few main story based mission to unlock the Deep Dive Syringe. Once this has been unlocked and you've made one with the required coloured plants (2 Blue and 1 Green), head towards the sea. You're now looking for an area with the darkest blue to it. Head to these coordinates for an area opened up early to you - X: 709.1, Y: 835.6.

Now equip and use the Deep Dive Syringe and dive down to the bottom. Your best bet here is to press to swim faster so that you don't drown. Once you've reached and touched the bottom of the sea, the achievement will unlock.

  • Kill an enemy with a takedown from above from a glider, zipline or parachute (Single Player only).

For this achievement, you'll first need to buy the 'Death from Above' Skill under the Heron Skill Tree. Once you've got this you'll need to find the perfect place where you can get either glider, zipline or parachute in the same place as an enemy NPC. Personally the zipline is the best and easiest option here, so aim for this option. One of the best places get both of these is during the 'The Medusa's Call' mission. Head to the mission marker and look out for the zipline over looking the area the enemies are walking about.

Once you're ready, distract one into place by pressing to throw a rock. Once he's under the zipline, press to grab hold and slide down. When you're above him or within a range, press :abut again to drop off. Doing so, you'll automatically do an Death from Above Takedown and the achievement will unlock.

  • Kill an enemy with the Repair Tool (Single Player only).

You'll first need to get the Repair Tool which can be brought from the store where it's located under the Specials menu or you can wait for it to become free by unlocking more Radio Towers. Once you've got it, make sure it's equipped. Now find some enemy NPCs and have the Tool out. Head up to them and keep close and press so the Repair Tools flame starts to set them alight. Once the enemy is on fire and dies, the achievement will unlock.

  • Kill a target from 70m or more with the bow (Single Player only).

Again, you'll need to head to any store and grab the Recurve Bow from under the Specials menu which you can buy or get for free by unlocking Radio Towers. Next, make sure you buy the Marksman Sight for $300 as this will help. Now head to any un-liberated Outpost on the island and try and get to a good vantage point where you can look over it and see the enemies inside. Tag the Outpost with a custom marker from the menu and walk back to the vantage point until the distance meter in the corner shows 70m+.

Now located the easiest target and aim true. Use the new sight to help you gauge the distance and see if you're landing too short or shooting too far. The Bow is a one hit kill, so all you need to do it get that one hit.
