After this series an elite qualifier will be unlocked, which will be one race against an elite racer, on dragon peaks (the sixth track - unlocked after winning the championship), combat race, circuit 1. This race will be hard, especially if you are in front of the elite. If you’re behind, you may as well restart the race since you’ll have a very tough time catching up, even with the best engines available at the time. When you get in front, you will also have a tough time since this bot will ALWAYS be on your tail, no matter how well or fast you race. - Combat Race - Deepwoods Pass - Circuit 2

I suggest that you practice these maps ALOT, because they’re a real pain to navigate and avoid all the trees and roots, let alone not falling off the cliff.
Also, i think that (especially in event 3) the AI are specifically hacked to beat you, even if you take shortcuts and whatnot, they will somehow hit the turBo on their craft and catch up to you, then somehow aquire a rocket or force blast and use that to beat you. - See “Titan Master” below.
- See “Titan Master” below.
- See “Titan Master” below.
- Fairly straight forward, all you have to do is win 10 events with this particular ship. Note that by completing certain career series you will get engine upgrades, which are VERY helpful when coming back to quick play to get these achievements, although it will come in time as you race (and come 1st).
Easiest way to achieve is to set the race to knock out, then lost canyon and then circuit 1 (also using engine upgrades). - See “Knockout Master” below.
- See “Knockout Master” below.
- See “Knockout Master” below.
- This achievement will come in time, as you need to win 20 of the set events (not in order). Like the previous, setting the map to circuit 1 of lost canyon, while using engine upgrades, will cut time and effort for this achievement.
- See “200 Wins” below.
- See “200 Wins” below.
- Again, this achievement will come in time as it is very time-consuming. Setting the map to circuit 1 of lost canyon will shorten this time considerably as this circuit is very small.
All events won on xbox live, ranked or public, will count towards this achievement.
- See “1000 Combat Points” below.
- Not as easy as scoring 600 points, although it can be done easily, by selecting a very long course, particularly dragon peaks, and also playing on magnet mayhem, set to exhibition difficulty, as a titan class vehicle (because they shoot three magnets at a time).
As the race begins, overcharge your brake boost at least twice before moving forward, and also make sure you have a ‘full bag’ of magnets (10 icons), before trailing a random racecraft, and then unloading every magnet onto that one craft, which will cause it to overload. As a rule of thumb, you should also brake after magnetising another vehicle, as they will generally reset themselves after crashing, but won’t shake off the magnets they already have, giving you the opportunity to load them with more magnets at the same time, which will all over load and (hopefully) eliminate them. Beware though; titans have been known to take at least 40 magnets to take down, while auroras will only need about 10 - 25.
Can be achieved alongside “Destroy An Opponent”, “Destructor” and “Destructor II”. - Contrary to (un)popular belief, the only way to get this achievement is by qualifying for the world championship in the elite difficulty series (which will unlock a sixth location - dragon peaks). And THEN you have to finish a race on every circuit of all six locations (condition and event are not factors that will affect the outcome of this achievement).
If you are eliminated during a race, you will have to restart that particular course, otherwise it won’t count. - Easiest to get while playing magnet mayhem. Just allow all the other racers to lay magnets onto you, and when there is a stack of them attached to your craft, hold down thrust + brake until the bar in the bottom right turns red, then let go of brake, but keep the thrust, and you will brake boost ALL of the magnets off.
- Easiest to get while playing velocity set to elite difficulty. Just race as best you can, try to stay out in front or somewhere in the middle of the pack, and eventually one of the other racers will shoot out a rocket that will magnetically latch onto your craft. Brake boost at least in the orange to get rid of it.
Can also be done with a splitscreen friend, which is much easier than playing with elite difficulty AI who may or may not stick a rocket on you. - By using the brake boost while the countdown timer is displayed at the beginning of each race, you can get a head start at around 500 km/h.
To get a perfect start however, all you have to do is start the brake boost exactly on 2, then release as soon as the race begins, when the bar is in the red (it may take a couple of tries). - Just double tap strafe to perform a barrel roll, but you must have at least one magnet / rocket / cable attached to your craft first.
- When you acquire a cable weapon, just wait for two racers to move in front of you, then double tap the ‘forward fire’ button (or bumper by default) which will shoot out two magnetised ends and the cable itself.
Using both the primary and secondary fire, attach an opponent to the ground with a Cable.
Same as “Connect 2 Opponents”, except you only have to press the ‘forward fire’ button once when an enemy racer is in front of you, then the ‘rearward fire’ button (pitching down helps) which will cause the cable to attach to the opponent’s craft, and then the other end will attach to the ground.- See “Speed Demon II” below.
- See “Destructor II” below.
- See “36 Second Time Trial” below.
- Fairly simple and straight forward, simply start a combat race on any circuit (lost canyon is easiest) and travel over a weapon pickup. If you get a smoke, use it if all the opponents are grouped up in a pack behind you (will also get opponents who are slightly ahead of you), and as long as they all travel through the smoke cloud, you will get this achievement in no time.
Note that changing the course to havoc on lost canyon will enable an insane amount of weapon pickups on the map, and therefore increasing your chances of getting a smokescreen (smokes are very common for racers in 1st position). - Easiest done on a long map, where you have AT LEAST a class 4 / 5 engine (they have numbers - the starting engine is 0) and playing against exhibition difficulty AIs.
Note that I received my achievement playing knockout in the championship series, after everyone had eliminated themselves and there was an extra lap left after I was the sole survivor. - Again easy to achieve IF you have at least a class 4 / 5 engine, and set the difficulty to exhibition, on circuit 1 of lost canyon, but this particular circuit must be learned thoroughly so that you know how to cut as much space as a you can, to get into 1st position. Continuously tapping the brake button while accelerating WILL cause you to go *slightly* faster though, especially if you are low to the ground, but the possibility of bumping it increases, which will cause you to bounce up and loose speed.
Accelerate your racecraft to 900 km/h (563 mph) (excluding during Time Dilation)
This achievement may seem hard at first, but is actually quite simple if you have a good amount of engine + wing upgrades.
I used the aurora (blue one), with a light hull, AUR-M108 (best engine), AUR-Light (hull), AUR-A2M3 (third best top speed wingset - A0M3 would have been better), on paradise isle (beach), on the havoc course.
Now, all I did was get two rockets (red), then travel along casually without crashing until just after the second checkpoint. Then, facing the huge straight with heaps of pickups, I reversed all the way back until I hit the blue forcefield wall, where I held down brake boost. I released the boost when it was about to overclock the engines, then let go and immediatly used the first rocket that I had, as well as brake boost tapping (holding acceleration whilst hammering the brake button), used the second rocket just before the first pickup, then I just strafed onto the various weapon pads on the track, using whatever I picked up just before the next one, and went to the right of the far set of arrows to continue accelerating, which is where I reached about 1000 Km/h.
Hope that helps, and your thumb does hurt afterwoods from brake boosting so many times.- See “Destructor II” below.
- Easiest (but definitely not easy) way to do this is to select lost canyon, circuit 2 on time trial. You pretty much have to make a flawless run (no crashes, perfect start, perfect corners, perfect everything) while brake boost tapping constantly. Not much advice can be given here except practice, practice, practice! this course till you have it perfectly nailed.
DO NOT waste your time attempting to get this achievement until you have unlocked EVERY stat-affecting upgrade ( "Perfectionist" + "Xbox Live Master" , etc..), otherwise you will NOT make it past 40 seconds.
I only just got below 42 because I started using the ultra light hull with my pheonix. - This achievement, although daunting, is quite easy to get. The easiest way to do this is to start a race on glacier bay, magnet mayhem, circuit 5, exhibition difficulty (make sure you have at least a few engine upgrades, because you will want to be quick).
As soon as the race starts, overcharge your brake boost at least twice, then trail along the last opponent until you have a 10 magnets. Launch all the magnets at the last opponent, and wait til you have another half/full ‘bag’, and then use them all on the same opponent again. After they have been destroyed, move on to the next opponent, as fast as you can (you can move slightly faster by tapping the brake button repeatedly - and very quickly - while accelerating). Repeat for each opponent, although for some you may want to go backwards through the course, as the leaders may have gotten far ahead of you and you wouldn’t be able to catch up in time.
*Thanks to HaLdAvId for suggesting this particular course* - Most likely the last achievement that will unlock, this requires you to place first in EVERY event in EVERY series, in all three difficulties. (if you have this achievement, then you have every upgrade possible, which will mean you are an exceptional racer because all the AI are rigged to win automatically no matter what - even if you cut corners they will still win - AND all other achievements concerning speed / time / points will be MUCH easier to accomplish).
- Simply play splitscreen (career or quick race - despite the description) and come first in a single event.
- See “Xbox LIVE Master” below.
Not many people play Fatal Inertia, let alone online, so your best bet is to find a boosting partner / group to play with, generally in the forums here at x360a:
https://www.xboxachievements.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24071
...And come first in 50 races.
NOTE: you can host a match and play just by yourself and bots, BUT THE AI WILL ALL BE SET AT ELITE DIFFICULTY, meaning they will ALL have the best upgrades available in the game. If you do manage to scrape in a win though, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that you will unlock achievements.
Easiest (but certainly not easy) way to win against the bots is to set the game to circuit 1 on lost canyon, knockout.
The above is also the quickest way to win when you actually *have* a group of eight people (eight people or bot placeholders, your choice).
All events won on xbox live, ranked or public, will count towards the 200 wins achievement.
*note that it took 52 wins for the ultra light hull to unlock for me*General tips for fatal inertia:
Continuously tapping brake while flying will cause you to move slightly faster, but is best for when you’re travelling on a straight or turning a tight corner (brake-boost-tapping).
The titan should NOT be used at all, unless you plan on using it to get the combat champion medal in each series (most combat points total by the end of the series).
Try to get in front of the pack at the start of the race, because it’s the easiest place to hold.
If you crash and get stuck near the back, it will be VERY hard to catch up, unless everyone is crashing, so it would be best to just forfeit that particular race, or quit and restart the series if you’re planning on getting the four straight wins reward (usually an engine upgrade).
No matter how hard you race in the elite class, the other racers will ALWAYS catch up/beat you, even if you take shortcuts, they WILL somehow get super boosts and catch up to you in a perfect line with each other, until they’re again right on your tail, and THEN they will somehow have gotten rockets and/or force blasts to beat you.
In magnet mayhem, it is a good idea to save up a ‘full bag’ of magnet icons first, then shoot them out, but limit the amount of magnets shot out to about 10, as that is enough to cause your opponents to lose control. Saving the magnets until you’re just reaching a bend and then using them will cause your opponents to crash outside the track and have to reset, but the magnets will still be attached to them and they will have a very slow acceleration rate.
Save rockets for straights, especially in velocity, unless you have a good handling stat (or you’re using mercury).
Time dilators are particularly worthless, because by the time you actually get one, you will have lost the race already and it would be smarter to quit and restart.
The AI are programmed to win, no matter what, and will always place the same rank each time you play, unless you are physically better than them (engine upgrades), and you can somehow knock out the one in 1st or 2nd, just to catch up.
All engine upgrades unlock by coming 1st in a series (not four consecutive first places), throttle will always reward you with an engine upgrade.
Now, on to the achievements themselves. For all the “XXX Series Gold” ones, you only have to come first overall, not first in all four races per series.
