Win a Rally stage on Hard opponent difficulty without using automatic shifting or the Driving Line.
When you start a race, you need to press and go to the Difficulty menu and change the options to match the requirements needed as described in the achievement description. Here are the options so you don't miss a thing:
Braking: ABS ON
Traction control: ON
Driving line: OFF
Cosmetic damage: ON
Opponent difficulty: HARD
NOTE: If you only put the "Game difficulty" on HARD setting, it won't count, since it leaves shifting to "Automatic" and driving line to "Braking only". NOTE2: You CAN use rewind to help you if you feel the need for that. You might confuse it to be not allowed since the other options will be on hard but it is very usable.
The description says: "without using automatic shifting or the Driving Line"; it doesnt say: "without using automatic shifting AND the Driving Line". Maybe can use at least one of the two, just cant use both together.
I don't see why everyone assumes it will be difficult. If it's anything like the first race in the game, even putting it on hard mode won't make it difficult as they basically just hand you the win by putting you against inferior cars to yours.
#4 has a very good point, maybe we don't need both? Maybe it's just one that needs to be turned off?
This seems to be the most difficult out of the DLC chieves, but it shouldn't be hard at all. 3-4 races max.
Remember that you can use the rewind feature guys, it won't make it difficult at all. If you screw up a corner just make sure you rewind it and take it again. The most important thing is getting out front fast, you don't want to be chasing people all race. Just get out front and focus on your ideal line.
I am quite an adequate driver at Forza, having almost maxed out gamerscore on Forza 2, 3, 4 and Horizon. HOWEVER, this achievement is so stupidly hard? The rally setup forced upon you hinders your car so much, and no matter how well I feel I drove, I always end up around 10th place. I was using the Subaru WRX Sti on the first stage of Kettle Hills and I couldn't beat 10th place after about 5 goes. Does anybody have any suggestions? Have you done it?
bloody hell ok that took about 10 attempts but I managed it, use rewind, and do it bit by bit. first section you need 1st, second no lower than 6th, 3rd no lower than 2nd...if you dont get a corner perfect rewind and take it again...(last hairpin I took about 55mph)
Did it in 4 tries and I hate manual trans. I've never used it before so I thought this would be hard but it wasn't
I did it on the first stage of the first rally. It's short and reasonably easy. I used the EVO 8 and just got used to the track. First try I got 22nd, second try 17, third try I got 11 or something and then won it afterwards. Just stick to the same stage so that you get used to it. On the uphill section of R1S1 you can sit in the grass on the outside (right side) and then swing in to take the medium corners at full speed in 4th-5th gear. Don't worry about crashing because if you do mess it up then just rewind and have another shot at the corner.
The driving line isn't an issue because you have a co-driver walking you through it all.
Did this 1st try on the North plains - stage 1 (the first night rally) Used the Mitsu Lancer, pretty much stay in 6th gear the whole way and only down shift to 5th when needed, simply just keep the car as stable as possible and do not drift it much at all, use rewind if you mess up. Sorted.
as #15 said if you do it on North Plains stage 1 it's pretty easy. I used the 2005 Subaru WRX STi. I got 10th first try, 6th second try and first by about 2 seconds on the third try. I would recommend leaving this achievement until the end that way you get to know how to drive a rally car as opposed to road racing cars in normal Forza.
