Introduction:
This RoadMap is designed to help gamers earn every achievement in Forza 5 as quickly and easily as possible. This is somewhat relative in that the game is not quick by any stretch of the imagination, but it IS easy, and this road map should make it easier. Forza 5 is a racing simulation game. This is different from an arcade racer that automates and ignores much of the physics. To be truly stellar at the game, it helps to be a gear head who knows and loves engines. While this road map won't teach you how to get on top of the leaderboards, it will definitely provide you with all the information you need to succeed when playing against the AI.

Note that this road map is written on the assumption that you know nothing about cars and that this is your first Forza game. If you have played others, tend to be good at tuning and tweaking performance out of cars, feel free to pick and choose the information that you feel will help you the most, and ignore the rest. Without further ado, let's get started!

Assists:

There are many assists available that modify just how much the simulation approaches reality. The more of them you use, the less money you make. However, you can definitely beat the game if you use them, and they make the game much easier to complete. You can modify your assists at any race start screen. While there are some preset difficulty levels and the ability to create a custom setting, I suggest starting with Easy. As you progress through the game and learn the tracks and get more comfortable with the cars, start turning them off to increase your income. Note that it is more impactful to increase your drivatar difficulty than to modify the assists. Get comfortable racing against Expert or Pro drivatars before you do much with the assists.

The available assists and a brief description are below:

  • Suggested Line (Full, Braking Only, Off) - When learning the tracks, a full racing line is very helpful. Changing this to braking only is probably one of the first assist changes you should make. Overshooting the corner is the most common racing mistake made, and seeing the braking line is very helpful in preventing this. I would recommend no racing line only for expert level racers, and it is only a 5% bump in income so not overly significant for having to repeat a race because you ate a wall.
  • Braking (Assisted, ABS on, ABS off) - Assisted braking is definitely going to help keep you on the track, and has the advantage of giving you one less thing to worry about. However, your car will also randomly slow down or refuse to accelerate at times. While not frequent, it can be annoying. If you are focusing on your perfect turns or consistently fail to stay on the track at turns, keep it on. Otherwise, change it to ABS on. I don't generally recommend ABS off unless you have upgraded your tires as most of the cars in the game will lock up in a hurry without ABS. Every car made today has ABS standard for a reason. If you are going to turn it off, remember to pump the brakes, don't just hold them.
  • Steering (Assisted, Normal, Simulation) - I personally could not tell the difference between Assisted and Normal, so this may be an easy 5% increase in payouts. Changing it to Simulation is a good idea when you are comfortable with the car you are driving. Note that in supercars, it can be very easy to oversteer on the Simulation setting.
  • Traction & Stability Control (TCS & STM on, TCS only, STM only, off) - Stability management systems are used to automatically apply the brakes to one wheel when cornering and that wheel loses traction. This prevents you from spinning out when you are overly energetic in your cornering. Traction control systems prevent wheel spin while accelerating. Spinning out and spinning your wheels waste time and slow you down, so I recommend keeping these both on. As you progress further into the game with more powerful cars, this becomes a big issue. For the 10% bonus of having them off, a lot of time can be wasted. Feel free to try it and if you are still earning golds, then keep it on. I found that I could have it off for most vehicles rated A and below, but was unable to control the vehicles if they were rated S and above without it.
  • Shifting (Automatic, Manual, Manual with Clutch) - To make winning easier, stick with automatic. Manual transmissions accelerate a little faster if and only if you are good at shifting. If you are NOT good at shifting, you are going to spend a lot of time looking down in the corner to see when you need to shift, put more of a load on your brakes by not downshifting properly, and post slower lap times. For the small performance increase and small bonus, it isn't worth the hassle. Focus on steering and you will see much more benefit than the slight acceleration increase and the cost of having to keep one eye on your tachometer. If you ARE good at shifting, go for it and you will earn a little more money each race.
  • Damage, Fuel, & Tire Wear (Cosmetic, Simulation) - When you first start the game, stick with Cosmetic. Once you have learned the tracks, switch to Simulation. When this is set to Cosmetic, the drivatars (detailed in the next section) act like typical online racers. This means that if they see you passing them, they will try to ram you into the wall. If you are behind them, they will brake-check you. If you are ahead of them going into a turn, they will try to use you as a brake assist. In other words, they are a serious detriment to the racing experience. However, when you change this to Simulation, the drivatars settle down and avoid most collisions and become much less aggressive in their blocking. Of course, if YOU run into THEM, you will likely lose the race. However, if you follow the road map, that should rarely happen, and you can always rewind to undo your mistake.

Once you are comfortable (10-20 races in) you should be at a bonus of 30% if you follow the recommendations above.

Drivatar Difficulty
Drivatars are the in-game AI drivers, based on the recorded driving habits of other players. Based on observing the drivatars in the game, most people are pretty aggressive and have issues staying on the track on corners. The drivatars add a lot of flavor to the game, but also can make it seem like every game is playing online with people who are more interested in creating pileups at each corner than winning the game. Turning the damage to simulation as detailed in the Assists section above does tend to curtail most of this, however.

There are eight difficulty settings: New Racer, Inexperienced, Average, Above Average, Highly Skilled, Expert, Pro, Unbeatable. The further along the list you pick, the more money you will bring in each race, and you need LOTS of money. However, the drivatars also get faster, better at taking turns, and better at preventing you from passing them. You need 400 gold medals, so finishing a race where you DON'T earn a gold medal is a bit of wasted time you will want to avoid. The key is to find a skill setting you consistently earn gold, but not blow away the field of competition. For instance, in a circuit race, the top three finishers get a gold medal. If you are coming in first every race and second place isn't even close, your drivatar setting is too low. If you consistently finish in second or third, you are probably about right. If you are coming in 4th or below, your drivatar setting is too high. Ideally, you want to be able to race at Expert or Pro and win every race, but even Highly Skilled gives you a 20% bonus which is nothing to sneeze at.

You may occasionally find a race where you just struggle. Don't beat yourself up about it, just drop the drivatar down one or two levels, win the gold, and then move it back to your regular setting at the next race. Repeating races is not something you will want to do unnecessarily.

** Special Note ** The New Driver drivatar setting is a little different from the others in that you will get a huge spread of drivatar skills when selecting this in the career (in MP this isn't an issue for some reason.) You will get some very slow cars that you may actually lap, and some that will out corner you and have a higher top speed. Even if you are struggling, I wouldn't recommend this in the campaign, use Inexperienced instead.

Purchasing Cars, Upgrades and Tuning
The game menus are designed to support purchasing cars that have been automatically tuned to a particular level. This is going to cost you extra money and waste time because you will keep losing races. To avoid this you will need to move through the menus in a less intuitive manner. When you select a league, you will then be able to choose a championship within that league. When you first enter that screen, there will be several recommended cars, and a variety of others that can technically be tuned to an appropriate level but may not be ideal. Look through the recommended cars and decide which one you want to purchase. Either write it down or commit it to memory along with the rating it is tuned at (such as C-499, S-800, etc.) and back out to the main career menu. Note that later in the game as your garage fills with cars, some of the championship screens will show a list of cars you own along with an option to buy cars. Always select Buy Cars when that happens to see what the developers are looking for, and then feel free to use a car you own if you wish.

Once you have decided on the car to purchase and are at the Career menu, select Car, Buy Cars, and use the to go to that manufacturer. Purchase the vehicle, choose a color or set of vinyls you like, and then go to the Upgrade screen. Here you will choose options that modify the performance of the vehicle with the intent of getting the best possible performance without raising the rating past the letter you wrote down as instructed in the previous paragraph. Which upgrades you choose is a bit of a personal choice, but generally focusing on control of the vehicle rather than merely adding more horsepower is going to make it easier to win races. Typically you should focus on weight reduction, vehicle stiffness, bigger and better tires, suspension, and then power, in that order. There is a thread that lists setups for a variety of cars found here. There are also a variety of threads to discuss tuning preferences in the forum.

Once you have purchased all of the upgrades and done any related tuning, then go back to the Career screen to actually start the Championship.

Note that the prices of the cars can be changed by Turn Ten, so the guide doesn't list specific numbers, just relative values. Turn Ten dropped the prices of vehicles twice in the first two months the game was out, which reduced the most expensive vehicle in the game to only $2,000,000, a mere pittance compared to the $6,000,000 it was at release.

Career Walkthrough:
The career achievements require that you earn a gold medal on 400 races and complete 40 championships series. The game comes with 587 races spread across 41 championships. As you choose your vehicles, you will want to focus on as few manufacturers as possible so that you make reasonable progress on the Affinity achievements.

The championships are sorted into 8 leagues. To keep the costs of the vehicles in line with your earnings, you should work systematically, focusing on one league at a time. In each league the championships have events that are required for the championship itself, and then bonus events that count toward the 400 races you will need to get gold on. Note that you will only need to complete 27 bonus races out of several hundred available. Save them for the end unless you need credits so that you can take your pick based on which cars and tracks you enjoy the most.

You also should go to the Forza Rewards website which will give you credits each calendar month based on your Forza history as reflected on your gamertag. If you have a VIP pass you will automatically earn increased credits as you level up. This comes with the limited edition version of the game or can be purchased as a micro-transaction. If at any point you simply do not have enough money for the next league, you can play bonus races or use the method detailed in the guide for Factory Legend to grind out money and XP while also working towards the affinity achievements.

The race types found in the game include:

  • Circuit race - there are typically 16 cars on the track, you will usually start at 14th, and need to finish in top three to get gold. This is the most common race where you complete multiple laps around a particular track.
  • Chase event - there are typically 3-4 cars on the track plus traffic that has to be avoided, and you will need to finish in first place to get gold. The ability to dodge MUCH slower traffic is key, especially in the later championships. You may have a car that can easily exceed 220 mph, but if you can't dodge the car going 40 mph it does you no good.
  • Signature event - there are typically 16 cars on the track, you will usually start at 14th, and you will need to finish in the top three to get gold. These are usually a circuit race, but all of your opponents are driving a vehicle from the same manufacturer you are driving.
  • Track Day - This is typically your vehicle alone and you will need to pass a certain number of slower moving vehicles before finishing the set number of laps. These are great events to rack up Perfect Passes since the obstacle traffic is usually moving slow and predictably. Note that you do not need to get a Good Pass or Perfect Pass rating for it to count toward the number of passes needed for the gold medal.
  • Chase Event - This is similar to a Track Day race, but with competition on the field. Instead of needing to pass a certain number of cars, you will need to finish first as you weave through a lot of slow cars.
  • Multiclass Race - This is typically 16 cars, 10 of which are in your class and 6 of which are in a slower class and start halfway around the track. You will start in 8th and need to finish in first place to get gold. The slower class cars are somewhat faster than the normal cars you will see in a chase event, but they are definitely there to act as obstacles.
  • Bondurant Autocross Event - This is a timed challenge event where you have to race between cones set up to form gates. If you miss or knock over a cone you are penalized time, so control and handling is far more important than speed.
  • Stig's Digital Cousin Challenge - This is a one on one race against the Stig, the "tame racing driver" from British TV's 'Top Gear'. You must come in first place to get gold, although the exact type of race varies.
  • Top Gear Bowling Event - This race requires that you knock down large bowling pins to accumulate a set number of points. If you follow the racing line you will have a hard time losing. It always takes place at the Top Gear track in Dunsfold, England.
  • Top Gear London Challenge - This is a circuit races with varying numbers of participants and placement positions for gold. It always takes place at the Top Gear track in Dunsfold, England.

You will likely get the achievements for perfect passes, perfect drafts, and perfect turns during the campaign. If you don't, they can be boosted using the methods detailed in the guide. When completing championships, you merely need to finish the race. You can actually complete all of the championships without ever getting any type of medal. However, this is far from ideal since you do need the 400 gold medals for that series of achievements and of course the money from finishing with a gold medal is critical for buying and upgrading cars. It is best to ensure that you get a gold medal every time you race.

How to Win Races
The single most important element in winning races is cornering well. Yes, you need a fast car, but there are only a few tracks where the top speed is a limiting factor. The racing line will give you an idea of the path to take that will give you the highest average speed through a corner. If you upgrade your car with a focus on handling, it will be much easier to corner.

Passing opponents while cornering is a great way to move up the field. Passing on the outside is generally less likely to result in bumping another car as most of the drivatars are going to focus on the racing line. The closer in to the racing line you are, the shorter the distance you have to travel around the turn, but the lower your speed will need to be. If you pass on the inside of the turn you will almost certainly have to use the rumble strips (these are the multicolored bumpy edges of the tracks found on many corners). The rumble strips are considered part of the track and do not result in voiding a perfect turn score, but they will slow you down and can cause the car to be difficult to control. Having an agile car will help significantly, but in general if you can master late apex cornering (covered in the section directly below) you will be able to pass easily in corners.

It is also important to point out that staying on the track is a must. Many of the off-track areas act like glue, slowing you down to 10 mph almost instantly. Others have very low traction, making it difficult to steer, accelerate or brake. Your tires are designed to be on asphalt, so keep them there!

Cornering Styles
There are two cornering styles to focus on. Geometric apex cornering is where you start on the outside, braking and moving to the inside as you turn until you are on the inside edge of the track at the midpoint of the turn, at which point you start accelerating and moving back to the outside edge as the turn completes. This is the basic concept of apex cornering that many racers use and that the racing line encourages. It is great for when there are a series of turns in a row, and reasonably easy to learn (especially with the racing line on full). If you have a car in a lower rating group or stock tires it also is the recommended style. It is not, however, the fastest way of cornering when there is a following straightaway, and makes passing on corners more difficult since most vehicles will attempt to follow the racing line.

Late apex cornering is going to generally result in faster lap times and makes it easier to pass in corners as you are following a different path. You will brake harder but later, turn sharper further into the turn, and apply full power as soon as you can see past the end of the turn. This results in a higher speed out of the corner and better lap times. You generally will need to upgrade your brakes and tires for this to work well.

There is an excellent tutorial on geometric and late apex cornering available at drivingfast.net, complete with diagrams for those who prefer pictures.

One important note to finish up the cornering section: don't drift! When you drift you lose control of your car, take turns slower, and can easily go off the track or hit another vehicle. This is not an arcade-style racer where drifting is rewarded, so remember to brake into a corner and accelerate out rather than trying to drift through it.

The Rewind Feature
In a single player race you can press to rewind to a set point on the track. This does penalize you with a small percentage of your winnings (about 1% each time you press the button), but if it helps you avoid having to repeat the race, USE IT! There are two points where it is disabled, which are right at the beginning (choose restart instead) and in the last section of the race (how much appears to vary by map).

If you find yourself using it in every race because of damage to your car, you have three choices: Improve the handling characteristics of your vehicle, improve your driving skills via practice, or simply turn the damage off. Turning the damage off results in a ten percent reduction of your bonus, but the focus should be on completing races the first time through rather than worrying excessively about percentage points.

Community Sharing
There are several community based achievements to share photos, tuning setups, and car vinyl designs. They can all be easily boosted yourself, or you can join a group to share among each other if you so desire. The daily cutoff for these is midnight GMT, so stay cognizant of that when boosting.

Multiplayer:
The multiplayer achievements consist of earning 325 medals in multiplayer and leading for 1000 miles in multiplayer races, and can be easily boosted in private matches with one partner. The only exception is Start to Finish which requires you to finish the race in four different public hoppers. You can also join public matches and race against random groups, but progress will depend heavily upon your skills as a driver.

If you are going to race in a public match, there is some courtesy that should be maintained. First, use your headset as opposed to the Kinect microphone. When you are going to pass someone, say so and let them know which side you will be passing on. Generally avoid trash talking as that ruins the experience for many gamers, and of course use the feedback system to reward drivers who exhibit good behavior on the track.

Affinity levels:
There are four achievements for reaching level 25 with a total of eight different manufacturers. During the campaign it is possible to level one or two manufacturers up to level 25, but for the remainder you will need to grind them out. There are methods for doing this manually or while AFK in the guide.

The earnings from your affinity levels rise pretty quickly to roughly 20%, so if you focus on purchasing cars where you have made progress on the affinity level you can offset the bonus implications of using more assists or racing against lower drivatar ratings.

DLC: Long Beach Circuit

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Most of the content for this DLC is part of a free update that you should be prompted to install automatically. If you have already completed the career achievements, you will notice that tracks get replaced with various iterations of the Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach track, even indicating that you have medals on the track already.

The achievements are quite straight-forward and in line with the rest of the game, requiring a bit of grinding. If you are still working on the affinity achievements this should give you some welcome variety. "Grand Prix Veteran" and "Panoramic" will take several hours each to complete as they require driving 300 miles in two different vehicles. "Career Minded" requires 20 gold medals in career mode and will also take several hours.

"California Drifter" is perhaps the most difficult achievement in the game from a skill perspective, although the ability to use rewind should make it possible for most people to obtain it.

Mop-Up:
At this point the only remaining achievements should be Rarified Air, Forza Triple Crown, and the zero pointers. See the guide for full details, and then enjoy your latest completion!

DLC: Nurburgring

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This DLC will require to you earn 20 career wins, 25 free play wins, 25 rivals wins including two fast laps in specific cars on specific rival events, and 50 multiplayer wins. Along the way you will also need to race 200 miles in vehicles from a German manufacturer and 200 miles in either the 1976 Ferrari #1 Scuderia or the 1976 McLaren #11 M23. Finally, you will need to hit 200 mph in a Modern Grand Touring vehicle, which is perhaps the easiest achievement in the DLC. Many of the achievements are set up to enable progress toward multiple goals at once; see the specific achievements for details.

The two achievements that are not simply based on grinding out miles and wins are "P1 vs. the Nordschleife" and "I Could Do That In A Van," both of which are specific Rivals events that may take multiple attempts to successfully complete in the time required, although neither one is particularly taxing if you tune your car for handling.

The maps are free and most of the achievements can be done without purchasing any content. "I Could Do That In A Van" requires the purchase of the Ford Transit SuperSportVan which is available if you have the Car Pass, or may be purchased as part of the Top Gear pack or individually through the in-game marketplace. As of release, the price is $9.99 US for the pack or $2.99 US for the individual vehicle.

  • 1970s Grand Prix (Racing League, 10 races) **Note that this requires a stock Grand Prix car, so no modifications are permitted.
  • V8 supercar (Racing League, 10 races) **Note that this requires a stock V8 supercar, so no modifications are permitted.

If money is an issue, the Modern Grand Prix is the most expensive series to enter as it has the most expensive vehicle, so that may be the one to skip. The choice is completely up to you, however, and the Lotus (the only car available for this championship) is a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

Note that you do not need to complete the bonus races included with the Championship Series for this achievement to unlock.

My Kind of Car5
Reach Affinity level 1 with any car manufacturer.   (4)

As you complete races you will earn XP based on the length of the race that is used to level up both your driver level and your affinity level for the car manufacturer. This XP is not affected by assists or Drivatar difficulty (those both affect how much money you make, not XP). You start at level zero, and level one unlocks at 5,000 XP. You will earn this before the end of your first Championship series.

To view your affinity levels you can go into the Forza Profile from the main menu and choose Affinity in the menu at the top. This will show you every manufacturer you have driven a vehicle from, your current affinity for each one to the right, and a progress bar showing how long until the next affinity level. If you scroll down through the list, more detail is provided in a stats box to the far right.

Brand Loyal10
Reach Affinity level 25 with any car manufacturer.

As you complete races you will earn XP based on the length of the race that is used to level up both your driver level and your affinity level for the car manufacturer. This XP is not affected by assists or Drivatar difficulty (those both affect how much money you make, not XP). The formula for leveling up is (Level * 20,000) - 15,000 = XP needed for Level. Using this formula you can see that level one is (1 * 20,000) - 15,000 = 5,000. Level 25 is (25 * 20,000) - 15,000 = 485,000. When purchasing cars for the various Championship Series, try to focus on as few manufacturers as possible. Ford and Ferrari are common in many of the series, followed by Audi and Chevrolet. It is possible to get one or possibly even two manufacturers to level 25 in the natural progression of the various Championship Series. However, it is also possible to complete all of the Championship Series and hit level 150 driver level without a single manufacturer hitting level 25 affinity.

While you can always race online or in bonus races as well, to get the most impact out of your time you have two choices to efficiently raise the affinity level.

Active driving method:
From the main Forza screen, choose Multiplayer, press to create a private match and to confirm. Once the vehicle selection screen opens, choose a car from the manufacturer you are going to focus on. If you have multiple cars from the manufacturer, choose the fastest one. At this point you will be in the lobby, so press to change the options to match these choices:
Game Type: Circuit Race
Environment: Indianapolis
Track: Indianapolis Oval
Max Players: 2
Max Drivatars: 1
Drivatar Difficulty: Set this at the level you normally race at, or at a level where the AI doesn't fall too far behind. You need to come in first place, but not by multiple laps. If you set it too far down such that you are lapping the AI multiple times, the developer has controls in place that can give you no credit for the game and it will waste your time.
Laps: 50 (depending on the top speed of your vehicle, 50 laps should take 40-80 minutes, so if you have less time, choose fewer laps)
Damage: Cosmetic
Collision Mode: Always Off
Car Class: Any, or set to match what you are driving
XP rewarded: 51,000

AFK method:
From the main Forza screen, choose Multiplayer, press to create a private match and to confirm. Once the vehicle selection screen opens, choose a car that is rated B or below. At this point you will be in the lobby, so press to change the options to match these choices:
Game Type: Drag
Track: 2-player 1-mile drag
Max Players: 2
Max Drivatars: 1
Drivatar Difficulty: New Racer
Heats: 10
Car Class: Any

When you go back to the lobby, all the Drivatars will have a class of car that matches yours. Press to go back into the settings and change your car to the highest rated vehicle you have from the manufacturer you are going to focus on. You will end up back in the lobby with your fast car racing against the lower rated vehicles the Drivatar is using, making the drag race basically an automatic win. Now have the right trigger of your controller compressed (use a rubber band or even the cord to your headset) and the car will automatically accelerate down the track, winning every time. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the 10 heats, at which point you will be back in the lobby. You can speed this up by pressing between heats, but if you are going to be around for that you are likely better off using the active method detailed above. Press to restart the process.
XP rewarded: 10,000

This achievement will unlock when you get one manufacturer up to a level 25 affinity. Note that you can boost this using the AFK method at the same time you are getting multiplayer medals if you have one other human racer in the room with you, just switch it to an 8-car 1-mile drag with 6 Drivatars.

To view your affinity levels you can go into the Forza Profile from the main menu and choose Affinity in the menu at the top. This will show you every manufacturer you have driven a vehicle from, your current affinity for each one displayed to the right, and a progress bar showing how long until the next affinity level. If you scroll down through the list, more detail is provided in a stats box to the far right.

Start Your Engine5
Reach Driver Level 1.

The leveling achievements should all happen naturally as your work on other achievements in the game. XP is awarded based on the length of the race rather than the difficulty, so changing the assists and Drivatar difficulty does not impact how fast you level up.

To determine how XP is needed for any given level, the formula is (Level x 14,000) - 10,000. For level one, you therefore need (1 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 4,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level one.

Up and Comer10
Reach Driver Level 3.

For level three, you therefore need (3 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 32,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level three.

Semi-Pro10
Reach Driver Level 5.

For level five, you therefore need (5 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 60,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level five.

Forza Lifestyle15
Reach Driver Level 10.

For level ten, you therefore need (10 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 130,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level ten.

Committed20
Reach Driver Level 20.

For level twenty, you therefore need (20 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 270,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level twenty.

Professional20
Reach Driver Level 30.   (3)

For level thirty, you therefore need (30 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 410,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level thirty.

Reach Driver Level 40.

For level forty, you therefore need (40 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 550,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level forty.

Forza Fifty25
Reach Driver Level 50.

For level fifty, you therefore need (50 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 690,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level fifty.

Centurion25
Reach Driver Level 100.

For level one hundred, you therefore need (100 x 14,000) - 10,000 = 1,390,000 XP.

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level one hundred.

Hall of Famer25
Reach Driver Level 150.   (10)

If you want to level this up early rather than waiting, I suggest using the AFK method detailed in the guide for leveling up your affinity with manufacturers:

AFK method:
From the main Forza screen, choose Multiplayer, press to create a private match and to confirm. Once the vehicle selection screen opens, choose a car that is rated B or below. At this point you will be in the lobby, so press to change the options to match these choices:
Game Type: Drag
Track: 8-player 1-mile drag
Max Players: 16
Max Drivatars: 15
Drivatar Difficulty: New Racer
Heats: 10
Car Class: Any

When you go back to the lobby, all the Drivatars will have a class of car that matches yours. Press to go back into the settings and change your car to the highest rated vehicle you have from the manufacturer you are going to focus on. You will end up back in the lobby with your fast car racing against the lower rated vehicles the Drivatars are using, making the drag race basically an automatic win. Now have the right trigger of your controller compressed (use a rubber band or even the cord to your headset) and the car will automatically accelerate down the track, winning every time. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the 10 heats, at which point you will be back in the lobby. Press to restart the process.

XP rewarded: 10,000

Note that the achievement actually requires you to complete a race while at this driver level, so it will unlock at the end of the next race after you reach level one hundred fifty.

First Five5
Earn 5 medals in Multiplayer races.   (9)

You can join public matches and earn medals if you place high enough. Alternately, if you have one partner to boost this with, you can do it all in a private lobby as detailed below:

From the main Forza screen, choose Multiplayer, press to create a private match and to confirm. Once the vehicle selection screen opens, choose a car that is rated B or below. At this point you will be in the lobby. Invite your boosting partner in to the lobby and ensure he picks a vehicle rated B or below, and then press to change the options to match these choices:
Game Type: Drag
Track: 8-player 1/4-mile drag
Max Players: 8
Max Drivatars: 6
Drivatar Difficulty: New Racer
Heats: 10
Car Class: Any
Under Advanced Rules, change the End of Race Timer to 5 seconds.

When you go back to the lobby, all the Drivatars will have a class of car that matches yours. Both you and your boosting partner will need to press to go back into the settings and choose to change your vehicle. Opt to rent a car and choose the 2013 Chevrolet #1 Andretti Autosport Dallara DW 12, which is the fastest rentable car. You will both end up back in the lobby with your fast cars racing against the lower rated vehicles the Drivatars are using, making the drag race basically an automatic gold and silver for the two of you, ending in about 13 seconds. Because the car is rented, you will earn no money or XP, which skips those screens and significantly speeds up the process. If you press at each Post-Race screen, it will take approximately 4-5 minutes to complete the 10 heats, at which point you will be back in the lobby. Press to restart the process.

Note that you can change the length to 1 mile instead of a quarter mile if you want to work on the Affinity level for a manufacturer at the same time, and then instead of renting a car pick a fast vehicle from the manufacturer you are leveling up. It adds about five minutes to the amount of time boosting each set of 10 heats.

The achievement will unlock at the end of the heat in which you get your fifth medal.

Pedal to the Medal10

Max Players: 8
Max Drivatars: 6
Drivatar Difficulty: New Racer
Heats: 10

The achievement will unlock at the end of the heat in which you get your tenth medal.

Trading Paint10
Earn 20 medals in Multiplayer races.

The achievement will unlock at the end of the heat in which you get your twentieth medal.

Sidewinder20
Earn 20 perfect Drift scores.   (10)

As a rule, during the campaign you will want to avoid drifting since it slows you down around corners. There are some multiplayer lobbies specifically designed for drifting, but the easiest method to earn Sidewinder is in a private multiplayer lobby with one Drivatar.

This is much easier if you set the drift counter to display on your HUD instead of the default lap time. Do this in the Forza Profile screen from the main menu. scroll to the HUD option at the top of the screen and press and then change Drift HUD to ON and press to save.

From the main Forza screen, choose Multiplayer, press to create a private match and to confirm. Once the vehicle selection screen opens, choose a car that is rated B or below. At this point you will be in the lobby, so press to change the options to match these choices:
Game Type: Circuit Race
Environment: Indianapolis
Track: Indianapolis Oval
Max Players: 2
Max Drivatars: 1
Drivatar Difficulty: New Racer
Laps: 15
Damage: Cosmetic
Collision Mode: Always Off
Car Class: Any

In the assists menu, turn off TCS, STM, and ABS. Choose or rent any fast car that you are comfortable with rated S or above.

You need to hit the corner out of the straightaway at 180mph or above, turn slightly to the left and tap the for the emergency brake. This should put you in a drift, and then it is a matter of drifting long enough to rack up 5,000 points and recovering without touching the wall or the grass. You get two opportunities per lap (other than the first lap where you won't be going fast enough at turn 1) so in a 15 lap race you can attempt this 29 times.

Note that there is also an achievement for scoring 7,000 in one drift (Drifting Away) that you should attempt to unlock at the same time.

Here is a video from OctagonQontrol getting it done:

When your vehicle is trailing another car at high enough speed, you can increase your speed efficiently by lining up behind them and benefiting from their efforts. Drafting requires that you be moving at least 70 mph, and the faster you are moving the further away from the lead vehicle you can be. To obtain a Perfect rating on a draft merely requires time. The longer you draft a vehicle, the more likely you are to obtain a Perfect rating. There are some caveats: You can't touch another car or the wall, and you can't leave the track.

Drafting generally doesn't work on corners due to the aerodynamics involved, but there are many straightaways in the game where it can be easily earned. It is quite likely that you will earn this without any conscious effort on your part. To increase your likelihood of getting a Perfect draft rating, stay on or near the racing line while on straightaways. You will need to be in sight of and behind another vehicle, preferably within 1-200 yards.

This can also be easily boosted with another player or a Drivatar in a private 1x1 match on Yas Marina full circuit or Road Atlanta full circuit. Whoever is getting the achievement will need to stay in second place and trail the other vehicle. At each straightaway you should then get a rating of Perfect Draft at least once, and on the longer straightaways multiple times.

The achievement will pop at the end of the race in which you earn your 20th. You can track your progress both in the achievement screen and in the stats menu of your player profile in-game.

Movin' Up20
Earn 125 perfect Pass scores.   (1)

A Perfect Pass is earned when you rapidly pass another vehicle in close proximity. You need to have a certain differential in speed (my estimate is roughly 30 mph, but that is just eyeballing it) and have a very small distance between the sides of your car. If you are not close enough you will get an on-screen notification that says "Good Pass" instead. If you go off the track or touch the other car you will not get credit for any type of pass, so avoid both of those. It is possible to earn these on a turn, but much easier on a straightaway.

This is an achievement that should come naturally as you play the game as long as you work on it. Every Chase Event and Track Day is perfect to earn 10-30 Perfect Passes since the track has multiple vehicles moving much slower than you. You can also earn this in multiplayer.

Apex Ace20
Earn 300 perfect Turn scores   (3)

A Perfect Turn rating is obtained when you maintain a high average speed through the entire turn, complete the turn without touching any other vehicles, and without leaving the track. You can touch rumble strips and there are a few rare corners where you can have a tire leave the track slightly without penalty, but those are rare. The speed involved varies based on your vehicle and the individual turn. If you come close to the speed required, you will get a Good Turn notice on your screen. Generally speaking, you will want to use geometric apex cornering by following the racing line, braking before the apex and accelerating after the apex.

There is an excellent tutorial on geometric apex cornering available at drivingfast.net, complete with diagrams for those who prefer pictures.

If you have the full racing line on, these are much easier to obtain as you have more information about which vector you should be on when entering a turn. You also may want to turn the braking assist to Assisted as this will help ensure you brake on time and let go of the brakes before you slow overly much.

Most full circuit tracks have 15-20 opportunities to earn this per lap, although some turns are linked in groups of 2-3 turns rather than being scored individually. Traffic around you can impede your ability to get a Perfect rating, but on the flip side if you have a fast car with a lot of grip you can sometimes take the outside path around traffic and still get a Perfect rating.

You can track your progress on the stats screen under player info. Given that you have the opportunity to earn several thousand of these in the Career, as long as you are focused on following the racing line in corners you are likely to obtain this just as a natural part of your Career progression. If needed, it can be boosted on any track with one Drivatar or in a private match with a friend. If you are struggling with the Perfect turns, you can adjust your upgrades and tuning on the car to have more downforce, which should help.

Painting By Numbers10
Earn 1,000 credits from the community using your paint jobs.   (56)

For best efficiency, do this at the same time you work on the three tuner achievements. This is easiest to do with a second profile on your Xbox One, but you can also do it with a group of 15-20 other people where you each commit to a 2-3 week boosting process consuming about 20 minutes a day. This guide is written based on doing this solo with a second profile.

On your main profile you will need to create and share a paint job for one of the cars initially given at start of the career. To do this, go to the Career menu, choose Car, and get in the vehicle in question. This will place you back at the Career menu, so choose Car and then Paint. You can apply decals, create vinyl groups, etc. The fastest approach is merely to paint the car all one color, then press and choose "Apply to car and save". In the menu across the top of the screen, scroll over to "My Designs" and press . Your current car and design should be selected, so press and choose "Share". Choose two keywords (mandatory, but which ones don't matter) and then any description you wish, then choose "Share". At this point, your design is able to be downloaded and used by others in the community.

Now switch to your second profile. If you haven't created one on your Xbox One previously, you need an email address to do so, and Microsoft will give you one at no charge if you go to outlook.com. When you are signed in to your second profile you will need to load up Forza 5. Note that if you have never played Forza 5 on the second profile before, you will need to progress slightly in the campaign before it will let you exit to the main menu. When you are selecting your initial vehicle, pick the same car as you chose above on your main profile.

Once you can get to the main menu with your second profile, go to Career, Car, Paint, and choose "Find New Designs". Press the search button and under Creator put in your main gamertag and choose "Search". The paint job you just created will appear, so press to select it and apply it to the car.

From the main Forza screen, choose Multiplayer, press to create a private match and to confirm. Once the vehicle selection screen opens, ensure that the car with the downloaded design is selected. At this point you will be in the lobby. Press to change the options to match these choices:
Game Type: Drag
Track: 2-player 1/4-mile drag
Max Players: 2
Max Drivatars: 1
Drivatar Difficulty: New Racer
Heats: 10
Car Class: Any

When you go back to the lobby, press to start the race. If you press as soon as the Post-Race screen appears, t will take approximately 4-5 minutes to complete the 10 heats, at which point you will be back in the lobby. Press to restart the process. You will need to complete a minimum of 100 heats and a maximum of 150 heats on each day. If you complete fewer than 100, you will get credit for zero. If you complete more than 150, you will get credit for 150. The official day for Forza 5 is based on the time zone for Turn 10, so it restarts at midnight GMT. You will need 315 heats to earn all of the design achievements, so the most efficient approach is to spread it over three days with 110 races each day.

In game notifications of the credits earned should arrive around 1 am GMT in the Message Center. From the main menu, choose Message Center and press twice. A message titled "Design Award" is what you are looking for and will list how much money you made from designs the previous day. Any achievements will unlock upon reading the message.

Forza Triple Crown20

Photo Finisher0
Win a Multiplayer circuit race by less than 1 second   (2)

If you play public multiplayer races this may happen naturally, but it can be easily boosted with one other person in a private lobby. Note that you have to choose Circuit Race as the game type, and you can set this to one lap to make it faster. At that point it is a matter of both of you staying close together and crossing the finish line within one second of each other. The first place winner will get this achievement, so be sure to repeat it and let your partner earn the achievement also. It also can be earned in a private lobby against a single Drivatar. If you are following the guide for the multiplayer medals, you should get this without any deliberate effort.

Drifting Away0
Get 7,000 points in a single drift   (4)

As a rule, during the campaign you will want to avoid drifting since it slows you down around corners. There are some multiplayer lobbies specifically designed for drifting, but the easiest method to earn Drifting Away is in a private multiplayer lobby with one Drivatar.

Damage: Cosmetic
Collision Mode: Always Off
Car Class: Any

In the assists menu, turn off TCS, STM, and ABS. Choose or rent any fast car class S or above that you are comfortable with. Generally the faster the car, the easier this will be to achieve.

You need to hit the corner out of the straightaway at 180mph or above, turn slightly to the left and tap the for the emergency brake. This should put you in a drift, and then it is a matter of drifting long enough to score 7,000 points and recovering without touching the wall or the grass. You get two opportunities per lap (other than the first lap where you won't be going fast enough at turn 1) so in a 5 lap race you can attempt this 9 times.

Note that there is also an achievement for scoring 5,000 in one drift 20 times ("Sidewinder") that you should attempt to unlock at the same time. If you do so, change the laps to 15 or more to ensure you have enough opportunities.

Note that the 2013 Lotus E21 is the most expensive vehicle in the game and is the only Modern Grand Prix car available. If you don't have the money to purchase it, or don't wish to spend the money, there is currently a way to rent it even though typically it is not available for rent. To do this, follow the instructions above and when you get to selecting your vehicle, choose Rent Car and press on the first choice. This will drop you back to the Freeplay setup screen. Choose Select Car again, and this time go to Buy Car. Scroll to the 2013 Lotus E21, press to buy the car but at the Recommended Designs screen, press three times. This will drop you back to the Freeplay setup screen again, but you will have the 2013 Lotus E21 as your rental. This is a bug in the game and may be patched at some point. Select "Game Options" and set Game Type to Circuit Race, Drivatars to 15, Drivatar Difficulty to New Racer, and Laps to 1.

Choose start race and when the track loads, select Starting Grid. Check to ensure there is at least one Ferrari on the list. If there is not, back out and start over, repeating until a Ferrari shows up. Start the race and you should easily come in first, unlocking this achievement. As long as at least one Ferrari finishes after you, a win is not actually required for this achievement.

The achievement will unlock naturally through normal game play if you select the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe as your car of choice in the Vintage Racing Icons Championship Series, which is the third series in the Vintage League.

Note that the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is one of the most expensive vehicles in the game and is the only car this achievement can be earned with. Scroll to the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, press to buy the car but at the Recommended Designs screen, press three times. This will drop you back to the Freeplay setup screen again, but you will have the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe as your rental. This is a bug in the game and may be patched at some point. If it is patched, you will need to purchase the Shelby to obtain this achievement.

Note that the 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa is one of the most expensive vehicles in the game and is the only car this achievement can be earned with. This achievement will unlock when you first share a paint job, tuning setup, or vinyl group. You will need to download a livery, tune setup, or vinyl group for a vehicle you own, and then drive it enough for a prompt to appear on the screen (usually after 3-4 races) asking if you would like to rate the downloaded item. When you choose to do so, the achievement will unlock.

To download a livery, from the main menu go to Career, Car, Paint, and choose "Find New Designs". Six designs should appear, so press to select one and apply it to the car. Now go complete a few races and wait for the rating notification to pop up.

The achievement will unlock at the end of your second victory.

Not Just for Show0
Race 10 of your personal Ferraris.

You will need to own ten Ferraris and complete a race in each one. You can purchase ten 1994 F355 Berlinettas as the least expensive approach to do this, but you will likely buy multiple Ferraris while playing the championships so it may be best to save this achievement until later into the game. There are 17 Ferraris included with the core game, and more available via DLC.

The achievement will unlock after completing a race in the tenth Ferrari.

Silver and Gold0
Earn gold at Silverstone Grand Prix Cricuit in a 2013 McLaren P1 and 2010 Aston Marton One-77.

This achievement is easily earned in Free Play using two different vehicles. From the main menu choose Free Play and in the menu choose "Select Track". Navigate to Silverstone Racing Circuit and choose the Grand Prix Circuit configuration. Then go to "Select Car" and choose the 2013 McLaren P1. Select "Game Options" and set Game Type to Circuit Race, Drivatars to 1, Drivatar Difficulty to New Racer, and Laps to 1.

Start the race and you will easily come in first place. Repeat the steps, this time choosing the 2010 Aston Martin One-77. The achievement will unlock after your second victory.

If you choose the 2010 Aston Martin One-77 as your vehicle of choice for the Ultimate Grand Touring Championship Series in the Exotic League, a gold medal in event six will satisfy the requirement for victory with the Aston Martin. If you choose the 2013 McLaren P1 as your vehicle of choice for the R Class Championship Series in the Class Competition League, a gold medal in the second bonus event will satisfy the requirement for victory with the McLaren.

Note that the 2013 McLaren P1 and the Aston Martin One-77 are some of the most expensive vehicles in the game and are the only cars this achievement can be earned with. If you don't have the money to purchase them, or don't wish to spend the money, there is currently a way to rent them even though typically they are not available for rent. To do this, follow the instructions above and when you get to selecting your vehicle, choose Rent Car and press on the first choice. This will drop you back to the Freeplay setup screen. Choose Select Car again, and this time go to Buy Car. Scroll to the 2013 McLaren P1 or the Aston Martin One-77, press to buy the car but at the Recommended Designs screen, press three times. This will drop you back to the Freeplay setup screen again, but you will have the 2013 McLaren P1 or the Aston Martin One-77 as your rental. This is a bug in the game and may be patched at some point. If it is patched, you will need to purchase the vehicles to obtain this achievement.

Start to Finish0
Finish a race in 4 different Multiplayer Hopper categories.   (1)

In the Multiplayer menu there are 15-20 different types of games sorted into four categories across the top of the screen. These categories are referred to as Hoppers. As of launch, the available Hoppers are: Monthly, League Select, Class Races, and Special Events. You need to finish a race in four different Hoppers, although you do not need to win. The achievement will unlock as soon as you finish your fourth race.

Head Over Heels0
Flip your car.   (2)

*** Note that some people have reported an inability to unlock this in Free Play. It should unlock in any mode, so if it does not on your first attempt, try again or try a different game mode. It should unlock immediately after flipping the vehicle. ***

Almost every car in the game will flip if you hit the grass at speed and pop the e-brake. However, it is very easy to do in the Land Rover Range Rover. Below is a video from Maka where he flips the Land Rover by fishtailing in the grass at Sebring, but pretty much any map will work. You also can do this by driving in reverse at the start of a race and then pulling to one side while pressing to activate the emergency brake.

If you are struggling with this, make sure that ABS is off, Steering is set to Simulation, and TCS/STM are off. You can also go into the tuning and raise the suspension to maximum which will move the center of gravity of the vehicle higher, making it easier to flip.

Spring Break0
Drive a 1962 Ferrari GTO on Sebring Full Circuit   (5)

This achievement is earned in Free Play using a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. From the main menu choose Free Play and in the menu choose "Select Track". Navigate to Sebring International Raceway and choose the Full Circuit configuration. Then go to "Select Car" and choose the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Select "Game Options" and set Game Type to Circuit Race, Drivatars to 1, Drivatar Difficulty to New Racer, and Laps to 1.

Start the race and you will unlock this achievement almost immediately. You do not need to finish the race at that point and can just quit out.

If you choose the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO as your vehicle of choice for the Racing Icons Championship Series in the Vintage League, this will unlock at the start of your seventh race in the series.

Note that the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO is the most expensive vehicle in the game and is the only car this achievement can be earned with. Scroll to the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, press to buy the car but at the Recommended Designs screen, press three times. This will drop you back to the Freeplay setup screen again, but you will have the 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa as your rental. This is a bug in the game and may be patched at some point. If it is patched, you will need to purchase the Ferrari to obtain this achievement.

DLC: Long Beach Circuit
Price: Free Achievements: 10 Points: 200

Panoramic25
Drive 300 miles on Bathurst in the #10 Holden Xbox Racing Team Commodore VF.   (10)

This is likely best done in Free Play with no drivatars, although it can be done in any mode that permits the required vehicle on Bathurst. Ensure that you have the correct track (Bathurst is the Mount Panorama Circuit in Australia) selected and choose the #10 Holden Xbox Racing Team Commodore VF. You do not have to complete this in one session and if you are in Free Play, you don't have to have any opponents. You can track your relative progress toward this achievement by looking at the red line at the bottom of the grey achievement picture in the achievement app on the Xbox One.

The #10 Holden Xbox Racing Team Commodore VF is an S class vehicle by Holden that is available in the Purchase Cars screen. If you have not purchased the DLC that includes the vehicle, you will be prompted to do so. You can purchase this vehicle solo or as part of the Top Gear Car Pack. The vehicle will cost you zero credits in-game.

Long Beach 10110
Earn a gold medal on Long Beach Full in Career, Multiplayer, and Free Play.    (43)

This requires that you earn three gold medals on the Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach Full track. You need to earn one in Career (single player), Free Play (single player or split screen with a second controller), and Multiplayer (must have another human with their Xbox One to earn a medal).

For the Career race, one possible choice is in the Class Competition League under S Class. For maximum efficiency, however, choose the Racing League and select the Modern Indy Series, as this will also contribute miles towards "Grand Prix Veteran". Set the Drivatars to a level you are comfortable with, and go win a gold medal (top three finish). Note that this contributes a gold medal toward the 20 required for "Career Minded".

For the Free Play race, set the track to Long Beach Full Circuit, choose a car you are comfortable with, set laps to one, and then choose Start Race. You will have to earn a Gold Medal, so with one Drivatar that means you need to come in first place.

For the Multiplayer race, this is easiest to do with a partner where you take turns winning. Set it to a timed race of 30 seconds and it shouldn't take long at all. You can also do this in a multiplayer hopper, but medals are not earned in races with just Drivatars so it does require at least one other person.

Career Minded25
Earn 20 gold medals on Long Beach in Career.   (3)

Multiple existing tracks will be replaced in the Career with various iterations of the Long Beach track. This means that if you have already finished the core game, many of the maps will indicate a gold medal already. Any existing golds do NOT contribute toward this achievement. You can earn the 20 gold medals for "Career Minded" on one event by repeating it over and over again or spread it across as many events as you like. If you have not yet completed the career, then this achievement should unlock through natural progression when you do so.

On the Xbox One Achievement App, the tracker across the bottom of the grey achievement picture can be used to track your relative progress.

See "Grand Prix Veteran" if you are interested in earning progress toward that achievement at the same time.

Beach Hopper25
Race in 50 Multiplayer events on Long Beach.   (5)

You need to complete 50 events in multiplayer on a Long Beach track. This can be done in private matches with a single Drivatar. While any mode where you can select the Long Beach track works, I suggest a Timed Race on the Long Beach Full Circuit set to 30 seconds. If you want to race against a lower class of car, select a C or D class car and go to the lobby screen. Then press to go into the settings and change the car class to Any along with any other settings you did not set previously. Press to accept your settings, then again to go back into the menu where you can then select any vehicle you wish to ensure an easy victory. Note however that you do not need to win, you just need to complete the match. This means you can start the race and sit there for 30 seconds if you wish. If you choose a modern Indy car, this will contribute towards the "Long Beach Veteran" achievement as well.

On the Xbox One Achievement App, the tracker across the bottom of the grey achievement picture can be used to track your relative progress.

Long Time Rivals25
Finish 25 Long Beach Rivals events.   (2)

Rivals mode is accessed from the main Forza menu by choosing the upper middle square that is conveniently labeled "Rivals". You don't need to win the event, just finish! Each rival event is a chance to beat the performance of someone the game's servers pick for you as an obtainable target. As with the multiplayer hoppers, there are a wide variety of events to choose from. Ensure that you are selecting the Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach map. To make it faster, choose a short version of the map such as Long Beach West. One fast option currently available is in the Class D Time Attack, where the Long Beach West map can be completed in about 30 seconds. Next, choose a car that fits the challenge you selected and start the race. Once you complete a lap, go into the menu and choose "Finish Race", and then choose "Restart" after the credits and XP are awarded. Repeat until the achievement unlocks. Note that you do NOT need to beat your rivals time, merely complete one lap so that the "Finish" option appears in the menu.

On the Xbox One Achievement App, the red tracker across the bottom of the grey achievement picture can be used to track your relative progress.

Grand Prix Veteran25
Drive 300 miles on Long Beach Full Circuit in a modern Indy car.   (2)

You can stack approximately 200 miles of this with "Career Minded" by choosing the Racing League and choosing the Modern Indy Series. Once you are done with "Career Minded", the rest is likely best done in Free Play, although it can be done in any mode that permits a modern Indy car. Ensure that you have the Long Beach Full Circuit track selected and choose a modern Indy car such as the (rentable) 2013 Chevrolet #1 Andretti Autosport Dallara DW 12. You do not have to complete this in one session and if you are in Free Play, you don't have to have any opponents.

The four modern Indy cars currently available all come with the core game. They are listed below for your convenience.

  • 2013 Chevrolet #12 Team Penske Dallara DW 12
  • 2013 Chevrolet #1 Andretti Autosport Dallara DW 12
  • 2013 Honda #9 Target Chip Ganassi Dallara DW 12
  • 2013 Honda #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Dallara DW 12

You can track your relative progress toward this achievement by looking at the red line at the bottom of the grey achievement picture in the achievement app on the Xbox One.

West Coast Gold10
Earn 5 gold medals on Long Beach in a 1964 Chevrolet Impala.   (7)

You will need to earn 5 gold medals on any Long Beach track while driving the 1964 Chevrolet Impala. This can be done in any mode that permits the Impala on a Long Beach track, but to finish efficiently select Free Play from the Forza Main Menu. Choose Long Beach West for your track, set it to one lap and one opponent with a Drivatar setting you are comfortable beating. After each race be sure to select Restart rather than Finish to avoid most of the loading screens. You can track your relative progress toward this achievement by looking at the red line at the bottom of the grey achievement picture in the achievement app on the Xbox One. This achievement stacks with "Long Beach Customs" if you do it in Free Play, or with "Beach Hopper" if you complete the races in multiplayer with a partner.

The 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 is a D class vehicle by Chevrolet that is available in the Purchase Cars screen and is not available for rental. If you have not purchased the DLC that includes the vehicle, you will be prompted to do so. You can purchase this vehicle solo or as part of the IGN Car Pack. If you have the Car Pass, it is included already. The vehicle will cost you zero credits in-game.

Celebrity Style10
Race on Long Beach Full in a Scion tC or Toyota GT86.   (1)

From the Forza Main Menu, go into Free Play and select either the Scion tC or the Toyota GT86. If you don't own them, they can be rented or purchased. Set the track to the Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach Full Circuit. Choose a circuit race, 1 lap, no Drivatars, and start it up. The achievement will unlock at the end of the race.

California Drifter20
Finish the California Drifter Rivals event having earned 15,000 drift points in one lap.   (14)

This must be earned in a specific Rivals event. From the Forza Main Menu choose Rivals -> Drift Rivals Event -> California Drifter. You are permitted to use the rewind feature without voiding the achievement. You will want to turn the Drift HUD on in the HUD options (found in the Forza Profile menu) before entering the Rivals menu.

While it can be done with a variety of vehicles if you modify and tune them to be a drift car, you can be successful with a stock vehicle as well. You are restricted to RWD vehicles of no more than 600 horsepower.

If you are looking for suggested vehicles, at the event selection screen you can press to view the leaderboards. You can check out the various vehicles used by different people and if you press on any given leaderboard entry you can watch a replay of that car being used to get the points posted. I would suggest watching several of them to get ideas on where to start drifting on each turn. While you don't earn drift points on straightaways, note that many of the top drivers start drifting before the turn so that they get maximum points once the corner starts.

For assists use the options below:
Suggested Line - Full
Braking - ABS Off
Steering - Normal
Traction & Stability Control - Off
Shifting - Your choice, although manual will give you more control if you are comfortable with it
Damage, Fuel, & Tire Wear - Cosmetic

If you are going to mod the car, definitely put on Racing Brakes and upgrade all of the drivetrain and engine features to their maximum. I also would suggest putting the rear tires to a wider tire and a stickier compound. From a tuning perspective, less pressure on the tires and dropping the suspension as close to the ground as you can are both helpful. Also, set the differential to 100% and change the balance of your braking force to be more toward the front than the rear. A video of someone walking through changing a car into a drift vehicle is below, and while he is working on a classic Ferrari, the tips he talks through are useful in general.

Before attempting the achievement, I strongly recommend taking several laps around the track in your car with all the settings/tunings/mods set the way you are going to make your achievement run. Getting acclimated like this will make it much easier to actually do the drift run. If you want to build up to it, do another couple of laps where you just kick the back tires loose as you round the corner so you get a small drift, which can help you learn how to recover from the drift without hitting the walls. Once you are comfortable with the car, then it is time to make a serious effort at the achievement.

For the actual race itself, look at your score after each corner to see if it is reasonably close to the numbers below. If it isn't, press to rewind and try again. Also note that after you bank the points from a drift, you can stop, back up, and set yourself up for a successful corner ahead if you want, although obviously it isn't necessary if you are good at drifting. You can't repeat corners over and over again to build up points, but you can essentially stop to plan after each corner if you wish.

Turn 1 (gentle left) - 1800
Turn 2 (right, around flowerbed) - 1500, total 3300
Turn 3 (90 right) - 1700, total 5000
Turn 4 (90 right) - 1800, total 6800
Turn 5 (sharp left) - 1900, total 8700
Turn 6 (90 right) - 1900, total 10600
Turn 7 (90 right) - 1800, total 12400
Turn 8 (extended left) - 1800, total 14200
Turn 9 (hairpin right) ** Note you can link this drift to Turn 8 for more points - 700, total 15100

Long Beach Customs25
Earn 25 gold medals on Long Beach in Free Play.   (1)

This can be done with any vehicle class. From the Forza Main Menu, select Free Play. Choose any Long Beach track (Long Beach West is the shortest), set it to one lap and one opponent with a Drivatar setting you are comfortable beating. After each race be sure to select Restart rather than Finish to avoid most of the loading screens. You can track your relative progress toward this achievement by looking at the red line at the bottom of the grey achievement picture in the achievement app on the Xbox One.

For efficiency, this can be combined with "West Coast Gold" if you choose to race the 1964 Chevrolet Impala.

DLC: Nurburgring
Price: Free Achievements: 10 Points: 200

A Familiar Ring10
Earn a gold medal on Nurburgring GP, Nordschleife, and Nordschleife + GP circuits.

For efficiency, you should combine this with Free-For-All and Rush Hour.

"Rush Hour" must be completed while driving either the 1976 Ferrari #1 Scuderia or the 1976 McLaren #11 M23. "Free-For-All" must be completed in Free Play, and "A Familiar Ring" requires a win on each of the three circuits available on the Nurburgring track.

The vehicles are very similar in speed, so it doesn't matter which one you choose. Go into the Free Play menu and set the track to the circuit you wish to complete (see below for advice on which ones you should choose), laps to one, and opponents to one Drivatar with average difficulty.

The Nordschleife + GP circuit is 16.15 miles long, the Nordschleife circuit is 12.93 miles long, and the GP circuit is 3.20 miles long. This works out to 15 races on the GP circuit, 2 races on the Nordschleife circuit and 8 races on the Nordschleife + GP circuit to come in at a total of 203.06 miles and 25 wins including a win on each track. This will unlock all three achievements.

Money Well Spent10
Hit 200 MPH on Nurburgring in a Modern Grand Touring car.   (2)

If you choose to do your career races for "Nurburgring Professional" in a Modern Grand Touring car, this will come naturally. Otherwise, choose any Modern Grand Touring car and start up a Free Play game on either the Nordschleife or Nordschleife + GP circuit with no opponents. At the beginning, turn around and go about a mile to the back straight and you can easily top 200 mph. You can quit the race at this point and the achievement will unlock.

For a complete list of cars that qualify as a Modern Grand Touring car, you can enter the career and choose the Grand Touring Championship. The first series is Modern, so select that. Any cars you own that qualify will be listed, or you can choose "Buy Car" to see a complete list of vehicles that can be used. There are currently 18 vehicles available, including DLC.

WORLDEATER also has a nice video for this:

The German Connection20
Drive 200 miles on Nurburgring in Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Volkswagen models.

For efficiency, you should combine this with "Nurburgring Professional." The faster car you choose on the Nurburgring GP circuit, the faster this should unlock. I recommend the Series League, S Class Series using any S Class car from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Volkswagen. If you end up a few miles short after your career wins, using a German car for your multiplayer wins should provide you any remaining few miles you have left.

Rush Hour20
Drive 200 miles on Nurburgring in the 1976 Ferrari #1 Scuderia or the 1976 McLaren #11 M23.   (3)

For efficiency, you should combine this with "Free-For-All" and "A Familiar Ring.

Nurburgring Professional25
Earn 20 gold medals on Nurburgring in Career.

As with most DLC, the Nurburgring will either be added to your Career-events or replace an existing event. Depending on your preference of car, you can find the appropriate events from your Career-list and browsing through the events.

For efficiency, you should combine this with "The German Connection." The faster car you choose on the Nurburgring GP circuit, the faster this should unlock. I recommend the Series League, S Class Series using any S Class car from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Volkswagen.

Ringer25
Race in 50 Multiplayer events on Nurburgring.

You need to complete 50 Multiplayer events on any of the Nurburgring tracks. The quickest approach is to create a private lobby in the Multiplayer Menu by press  and then press  to change the options. Set the type to "Timed" and duration to "0:30." With the loading screens, this will take about an hour to complete 50 events. You do not need to win, get a medal, or even have anyone else in the lobby with you. The "multiplayer" merely refers to launching the races from the Multiplayer menu.

You may want to use a car from a German manufacturer to help add a few miles to "The German Connection" requirements.

You can do this using Private Multiplayer by inviting no friends, but adding at least 1 Drivatar to the lobby. Basically the same method as the Long Beach achievements. Otherwise, start a Private Lobby, invite a bunch of friends and do this achievement together. I would suggest using high class cars to minimize the time spent on track towards the achievement.

Free-For-All25
Earn 25 gold medals on Nurburgring in Free Play.

For efficiency, you should combine this with "Free-For-All" and "A Familiar Ring.

Uber Rival25
Finish 25 Nurburgring Rivals events.

You should complete "P1 vs. the Nordschleife" and "I Could Do That in a Van" before grinding out the rest of these events as you may need to try those rival events multiple times.

Enter the Rivals menu and choose any rivals event that is on the Nurburgring track. You do not need to beat a rival, merely finish, so choosing an event that only requires one lap on the GP circuit is going to be the fastest route to unlocking this achievement.

P1 vs. the Nordschleife20
Finish the P1 vs. the Nordschleife Rivals event having set a lap time of 7:15 or better.   (12)

Enter the Rivals menu and choose the "Spec Challenge" rivals set and then the "P1 vs. The Nordschleife" event. You must be driving the McLaren P1 and get a lap time of 7:15. You may use rewind as often as you would like without penalty. Run through it one time to see what your driving style ends up with for an initial time and see how much you need to trim to get under the requirement. This is primarily an exercise in nailing corners, so if you don't get at least a "Good Corner" rating, I would suggest rewinding.

The P1 needs to be tuned to a maximum rating of R900 to qualify for this event. While you don't have a lot of options without exceeding R900, I would suggest weight reduction, a roll cage, and wider tires front and back as the best choices.

I Could Do That in a Van20
Finish the I Could Do That in a Van Rivals event having set a lap time of 10:00 or better.   (11)

Enter the Rivals menu and choose the "Spec Challenge" rivals set and then the "I Could Do That In A Van" event. You must be driving the Ford Transit SuperSportVan and get a lap time of 10:00 or less.

The Ford Transit SSV is paid DLC that comes with the Car Pass. If you don't have the Car Pass, you can purchase the Top Gear Car Pack to get ten cars, or buy the Ford individually. Note that D280 is the highest rating the Ford can have and still qualify for the event. I would recommend weight reduction as the most important upgrade given that the Ford is a tank.
