General RAAM will attack you in 'Pale Horse', the last chapter of the game. It is recommended you do this with a partner, as it's very tough otherwise.
I personally hid behind the first wall and unloaded my Longshot into his head until he got too close. When he did, I jumped over the wall and high-tailed it to the other side of the train for cover. Then I started unleashing some more headshots until he went down.
This video was not done on Insane, although it says it was.
For co-op, your best method is:
This achievement can be done on Co-Op. If done in Co-op, it will not matter who actually kills RAAM. The achievement will unlock for both players, assuming neither one already has it.
RAAM is surrounded by Kryll that will harm you if you don't stay in the light.
General RAAM must be killed on Hardcore difficulty to count. Not Casual or Insane.
Directly before you battle RAAM, you are in a subway car filled with weapons. These respawn after a few minutes, so wait it out and make sure you have full ammo for everything you want to use.
Check out our discussion thread on defeating RAAM here.
Ok, so there are actually two ways that you can defeat RAAM on Hardcore Difficulty. The first way is to do what you have typed down above, or you can simply just tag RAAM with a grenade once you get close enough. Just make sure you don't die when you get close to him. I have tried this in both Hardcore and Insane and it ONLY works on Hardcore, I don't know about the lesser difficulties.
easy than u would think. aim for the head with the torque bow. blind fire with the bayonet. try running to the the end of the carriage and get on the turret and fire. don't get hit by the bats. stay in the light.
This ended up being easier on Hardcore for me. As I have already done it on Casual. I had my Lancer and Longshot.
From afar, I would unload my Lancer until the Kryll flew away. Then several headshots. Repeated this until he was close, then I threw a couple of grenades to kill him off. Only 6 attempts on Hardcore, as opposed to over 20 on Casual.
If anyone wants to boost some online achievements, then add me, DecadentBeaver, and I will be back online from 7th Feb. Also have Gears 2. I also use a mic so feel free to F.R me with a message for what game.
Easy. Use the Longshot Sniper Rifle, Lancer Assault Rifle, and the Snub Pistol. Once the fight starts, wait until the Kryll go away from him, then without being in too much danger shoot him in the head with the Sniper. You should be good at Active Reloading now, so use it to success (or perfection) to get a quicker reload. Keep doing that until he gets closer to you. You should be crouched behind the little cement wall with the lights shining up.
When Raam gets right about there, blindfire at him while crouched with the Lancer. He cant get directly at you as the wall will be in the way. You can use the Pistol, but it's really not recommended... unless you cant reload the Lancer very well.
He eventually got around to the other side and I recovered Dom really fast (as I had the chance)
then ran over to the other end and staying in the light. As I got to the ramp (carefully, as it's kind of dark and the Kryll can get you) I stayed on the lower end to get a form of shielding from Raam's bullets, and got about 2 shots on him from the Sniper, then waited for the Kryll to go away from him and unleashed the turret on him.
I did this on Hardcore difficulty and it took me this one try.
I was playing through Gears of War 1 again and accidentally discovered a very easy way to kill Raam (the final boss). It's kind of tricky to set up, but I got it set up 3 times and it worked every time. Here's how it goes:
When you get control of Marcus again, run down the right side (only works on the right side) of the train to the first cement block and duck behind it. Start firing at Raam and wait until Dom (this is the tricky part, cause he won't do it every time and it only works if he does) runs up to the second cement block and ducks behind that one. Raam has to be on the other side of the block from Dom. For the proper set up it should look like this from the entrance Marcus, block, Dom, block, Raam. As soon as Dom is there, don't do anything until Raam kills him. Th
This is important because if you open fire, Dom will move and it won't work. But, if it worked out right, Raam will be stuck behind the other block and you can just fire on him without moving until you kill him.
Finally defeated him, only with the Lancer and 3 frag grenades(not tags, however, just blindfiring the grenades, and pumping RAAM with lead). He will go down after 5-6 clips(exactly 5 clips with Perfect Active Reload),but most of the shots must be fired at his head.
Just did this solo, so happy. Use the Lancer, Longshot and grab some grenades. Keep shooting at him with the Lancer and his bats will fly away. Then unload the Longshot on him and keep repeating. When he gets too close jump over your cover to the cover just before the turret. Then keep on repeating and if Dom doesn't be a idiot you should be able to do this. Good luck! @16 - You don't need the turret, I just did it solo without using it, and it's not the hardest achievement ever! LOL.
I just finished gears of war, I was having an issue with the last boss and tried most of the ways above in the end I had a look at youtube and I found a very helpful video and works on insane also, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFLxAjOOr4E I hope this helps overs like it helped me out
After giving up & getting side-tracked about 5 yrs ago , I watched the Youtube glitch & tried it a couple of days ago . Works . Ran to the far right side block & took cover . Took a few attempts to get Raam stuck on the block , but when he did , I hit him with the Torque to clear the bugs then immediately blind fired the Lancer into his face . After doing this a few times , I blind tossed a couple of grenades at his feet & down he went . Surprisingly easy .
