Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV Achievements

No More Strangers

Meet all random characters.

As stated, you only need to encounter them. So that means attempting their 1st (or only) mission or seeing them in the context of the storyline.

Several of the characters will provide you with more than one mission. All is explained in detail in the Item & Location sticky. In the description it states if the character will only appear at certain times of the day. If nothing is noted, the character can appear anytime. The characters may also not always be in their locations. If the character you are looking for is not where the map states they should be, that is normal. Simply continue on about your business, and try back later, there is no need to post in the forums asking where the character are, and why they haven't appeared. Have some patience, and go enjoy Liberty City!

1. Badman: You will find him sitting on a bench in front of the Pill Pharm after you complete the mission "Shadow." He will ask you to accompany him for a hit on a Russian gang.

Should be able to, since they're not story based characters.

A thouroughly confusing and time consuming achievement. Have yet to complete it. Also not very rewarding with its 5 G-points.

Here's a handy list for those of you that need a little bit more clarity I think. I find the GTA Wiki to be very resourceful. There's also a nice handy key of which ones you don't need to save as well. And @ smashingracal; Clarence isn't a necessary R.C.

There are fourteen "random characters" in total, and they each become available at different stages during the storyline. These characters are represented by the green male and female icons on the radar, and approaching them will trigger a cutscene. These characters are mostly minor characters that featured briefly during some missions, but who didn't have a huge part to play in the story. Completing all of the random character encounters contributes 5% towards 100% completion of the game. You can find a map of all their locations on the in-game internet by visiting ""

Heres also a useful map for them.

Some people unlock this achievement at meeting 12 people. Hints: the characters you kill in the story don't count, you already "met" them. If you left them alive during the story, you will meet them and do their side missions for the achievement. If you meet someone after you beat the story, and accidentally kill them, they WILL respawn at the same spot, but there's no telling what day or time. It may even take one game-week! Note that you don't have to complete their missions to get the achievement, just meet them!

Is there a specific time when the Faustin woman turns up? I can't seem to find her. Is she in front of her own house?

I've already did this on PS3 before. Oh well I'll do it again. Even though I'm not going for 100% cause I ain't doin the pigieon achiv or Stunt jump achieve or most of the online achives cause IV's online isn't that good. The death matches are awful.

I decided to execute Cherise, just because Niko is an ice cold red army skills blah blah blah killer...Now I'm wondering, am I screwed for this achievement? Or the ones that count are the ones needed for the 100% ?

You only need like 10 of the random characters in total. The ones where you can decide to live or to die DON'T count towards this achievement!

Easiest way to do this is use the map found on #10's comment and use the little point markers to mark ones you have done. Easy.

Somehow I got the Key to the City achievement and didn't get this one. Ideas?
Got to 100% after the Gracie encounter. Tried redoing it, off and online, tried clearing my cache, no good.

I am stuck at 99.5% and I'm almost certain I've done all of the random character missions. Looking back at some other guides, it mentions picking up the money in the 3rd encounter with Jeff, which I don't think I did. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't think it counted the 0.5% for completing this one, and I'm afraid I put in almost 60 hours and won't be able to get the Key to the City achievement.
