Introduction:
Guardians of Middle-earth is a Lord of the Rings-based, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) type game, that gives players the chance to play major characters from The Hobbit and LOTR series of books and movies and take them on the battlefield against groups of diverse enemies, from Sauron, to Arathorn, the father of the future King, Aragorn. Each character, or Guardian, has it's own skillset allowing them to excel in particular areas such as attack power, defensive skills, or ability (spells) power. Some Guardians are even capable of performing all skills adequately, although not always quite as well as some of their specialized counterparts. In online play, players are pitted in 5 on 5 battles to destroy enemy towers as they make their way to the enemy's base and inevitably destroy that. Only the most powerful warriors of Middle-earth will come out victorious, will that be you?

Game Types:
Custom Match
After completing the Tutorials (to unlock Gandalf), you might as well get the one Custom Match achievement over with by setting up a custom match, which can be you vs all AI Guardians, or you can have your friends join you for the fun. In this game mode, you can also play any locked or unlocked Guardian to try them out before purchasing them for Battlegrounds/Skirmishes. Win this game to unlock Win This Way.

Battlegrounds(Regular/Elite)/Skirmishes:
Battlegrounds are the player vs. player gametype, and Skirmishes are players vs. AI. While a majority of the achievements require Battlegrounds mode, you can finish off the 100 wins for An Unexpected Journey in Skirmish mode if you find that easier, which in my experience isn't always the case as AI tend to be better than the average player, at least currently. However, if you notice you are having difficulties winning Battlegrounds after you have collected all of the Battlegrounds only achievements, then you might as well try your hand at Skirmishes. Also, make sure you play at least one game in 3-Lane mode in either match type, which I find to be a bit quicker gametype overall anyway, so you may want to just play 100 of those games. To make this whole Battleground/Skirmish ordeal easier, you can always play with friends, however the matchmaking system with friends can be tricky, sometimes splitting up the group between the two teams.

Conclusion:
As you play through the Battlegrounds, also be sure to play as each class and character at least once to get the associated achievements for playing as all of the good characters (In the Light), the evil characters (Servant of the Shadows), and win as each class (Fortified, Enchanted, Defend to the End, Strike Hard Strike Fast, Warrior's Mettle).

There are 29 achievements with a total of 400 points

  • Fall on the Battleground

Simply die while you're in a battleground. Chances are this will happen quite a bit.

  • Achieve a Kill Streak of 3 in any Battlegrounds match

Kill 3 or more enemy Guardians in a single life, in one Battlegrounds match. As you get a feel for your favorite guardian, and how to effectively deal damage without getting killed (or effectively steal kills) you should have this pretty quickly.

Note that if you are about to die, feel free to head back to your base, you can teleport their by using , or turning a nearby tower into the healing tower, which requires your Guardian to be level 12. The last choice is very helpful overall, and in my opinion is a good tactic to take into battle if the tower is otherwise untouched by enemies.

  • Achieve an Assist Streak of 5 in any Battlegrounds match

In order to attain an assist streak you must help an ally kill an enemy Guardian, and then do that 4 more times in a single life. If you don't feel confident about getting 5 assists without dying, try playing one of the Defender classes and keep yourself alive with their defensive abilities, while damaging the opponents every now and then. The Witch-King would be an exception to this method, but overall you can do this will relative ease on as any class with some practice.

  • Achieve a Multi-Kill of 2 in any Battlegrounds match

By a multi-kill this achievement means you must kill 2 or more Guardians in a Battlegrounds match within quick succession, I would recommend with the same ability. Ultimate abilities, such as Agandaur's Shockwave and Sauron's Lidless Eye can both do massive damage to targets that are standing in the right spot. Lidless Eye is probably preferred in this situation as it allows you to safely execute the ability, and continue to attack them with standard attacks to make sure the kills aren't stolen.

  • Use an Ultimate Ability to defeat an Enemy Guardian in any Battlegrounds Match

The Ultimate Ability for each Guardian is their attack that is unlocked once you get them to level 5 in a battleground. From there, further leveling will allow you to increase the damage of the ability. While every Guardian has an Ultimate Ability that can kill at least one person at a time using powerful AOE or large cone damage attacks, my favorite being Sauron's Lidless Eye and Agandaur's Shockwave. These can help you annihilate multiple opponents in one move, allowing you to get this and Drive Them Back at the same time.

  • Upgrade 3 Towers in any single Battlegrounds match

Once your Guardian reaches level 6, walk up to one of your ally towers while in a game and press + simultaneously to open up the Tower upgrade screen. The only option that will be available to you at that time will be the right one. Do this to three different towers, or level up and keep upgrading the same tower at level 9 and 12, all in one game, to get the achievement.

  • Reach Level 14 in any Battlegrounds Match

Reaching level 14, the max level in a Battlegrounds match, is pretty standard practice with at least evenly matched teams and some practice on your part. The best way to go is to focus on killing the soldiers that try and move toward your base from some quick levels early on, and then focus on eliminating enemy Guardians once you are at a good level. Find the Guardians you prefer to play, having Commands, Potions, etc. can all help you reach level 14, although you most likely won't need anything more than a half decent team to back you up.

  • Destroy 5 Soldier Upgrades total in Battlegrounds matches

The soldier upgrades are the small, flat structures, that have a hologram of a soldier type on it (ie a Soldier, a mounted soldier, a siege soldier) and are located in your base and your enemy's base. As you lay siege to an enemy's base, simply make sure you attack and destroy as many of the upgrade structures as possible before finishing the match. 3-Lane games have 3 of these structures, while 1-Lane games just have 1.

  • Build 6 Soldier Upgrades total in any Battlegrounds matches

You can upgrade the soldiers that your soldier upgrade structure dispenses the same way you upgrade towers. From level 6 and beyond you can go up to it and press + to open up the upgrade screen, where you can select any of the upgrades, given you're the appropriate level. Then wait near the structure a few seconds until the upgrade bar disappears and you're done. You can do this on all of the stations in your base, and repeat them with different upgrades whenever you want. Once you hit level 6 you might as well do this every time you respawn, to get it quickly.

  • Win a Custom Match

Custom matches allow you to play as any of the Guardians, even if you don't own them yet, with your friends or a bunch of AI bots. Hit the Custom Match button when choosing a game, and pick either 1 or 3-Lane. Once you're in the game, just make sure you win and you're good to go back and play the regular game types.

  • Win any 3-Lane Battlegrounds or Skirmish match

When selecting a match type, choose any of the Battlegrounds 3-Lanes game types (regular or elite), a Skirmish match, and then win it. In general, I would recommend just grinding everything out in 3-Lane Battlegrounds as they seem to be quicker, and are easier to farm many of the achievements in.

  • Win with a Warrior-Class Guardian in any Battlegrounds Match

Select any of the following characters when starting a match, and then win that same match in order to unlock the achievement

    Purchased Guardians (5000 gold):

    • Galadriel
    • Eowyn
    • Wulfrun

    Purchased Guardians (5000 gold):

    • Agandaur
    • Lugbol
    • Ori
  • Win with a Tactician-Class Guardian in any Battlegrounds Match

Select any of the following characters when starting a match, and then win that same match in order to unlock the achievement

    Free Guardians:

    • Hildifons

    Purchased Guardians (5000 gold):

    • Nori
    • Gothmog
    • Runsig
    • Felgrom
  • Use a Tier-4 Command in any Battlegrounds match

Tier-4 Commands are unlocked at player rank 12. Once you are there, set any of the 4 Tier-4 choices to your last command ability slot in your load out and join a match. Once you're in the game, use to select the Tier-4 ability you chose, and then to use it. Once you've done that, the achievement will pop.

  • Use 4 Potions in any single Battlegrounds Match

For this achievement, you must reach player rank 12 in order to unlock the four potion slots, which are all bound to the Dpad. Potions are single use, meaning you will need all four slots to use them all in one game, however you don't need to worry about buying anything as you can get potions as rewards for finishing a Battleground. Any assortment of Potions will do, as long as all 4 Potions are used in the same match.

  • Earn 20 Guardian Kills in any single Battlegrounds Match

Probably the most difficult achievement for the average player to get, although quite doable with some practice on your favorite character and some investment in powerful runes and gems. For this achievement you may want to invest in stacking damage gems/runes on either a Striker class, or an enchanter. Some of the Guardians are more geared toward single target attacks (such as Gollum) and are probably not the best choice when AOEing down groups of enemies can net you more kills, and also potentially help steal other people's kills. Guardians such as Legolas, Haldir, and Agandaur are all solid DPS choices. I would recommend sticking to high damage guardians such as these, especially on three-lane maps where you can teleport () back to base and heal up at the spawn tower whenever you need to. One-lanes do not have this wonderful bonus.

To possibly help increase your chance of getting this achievement, you can switch your game to gold mode via the settings on the main menu. This removes all DLC (guardians AND maps) and allows you to play with trial players and bots. These games will generally start once there are at least two people in the game, and the rest of the spots will fill in with bots, which can be considerably easier to take out if you play according to how the bots play (generally, very cautious). Also, be sure to take advantage of any bot healers on your team as they can prove to be very useful in keeping you alive, especially Eowyn.

  • Earn a combined Guardian Kill/Assist Streak of 8 in any Battlegrounds Match

For this you need to simply get a streak of kills and/or assists where the sum of both streak numbers is equal to, or greater than 8. So if you're on, say a 7 kill streak with 0 assists, simply get 1 assist in the same life as those 7 kills and you're good to go. The same works for 3 kills and 5 assists in a life, or any other variation of the two. Chances are some assortment will occur before you get a streak of 8 assists or kills.

  • Earn 5 Accolades from any single Battlegrounds Match

Accolades are awarded to you at the end of a match for meeting certain criteria during the match, such as getting the first kill, the most kills, the first to destroy a tower, destroyed the most towers, etc.

If you want to just farm the achievement in a game (not really necessary~) you can do something like this for the following accolades.
Ignore the bad guys, rush to one of the Shrines when the match starts (3-Lane preferred)
Power Hungry and Arcane will unlock if you're the first to capture a Shrine, and capture the most shrines in the game, so spend the game bouncing between shrines. Keep using your command ability as well to get General for using the most commands. Depending on how you're running around goes you may get Immortal (Longest Life), Cautious (Fewest Kills), Wounded (Received Least Healing), Ranger (Most Distance Traveled), and Survivalist (Fewest Deaths). Obviously quite a few accolades to unlock by basically doing nothing but run in circles, and get this achievement..and progress toward Notches in the Axe.

  • Kill or Assist a Guardian from each Class once in any Battlegrounds Match

The classes are Defender, Tactician, Enchanter, Strike, and Warrior. In a balanced 10 Guardian match (including yourself) there should be an assortment of each class. All you need to do for the achievement is either kill an enemy that is said class, or assist a Guardian that is one of those classes. If you stay in the fray for the majority of each game, this should only take one or two matches to unlock, especially since you cannot have doubles of the same Guardian on one team, and thus forcing SOME diversity.

  • Capture 15 Shrines total in any Battlegrounds matches

Shrines are the green markers on the map, signifying an object you can stand next to in order to capture it and give your team a buff. The other team will fight you for these occasionally, some teams don't care, but if you do get a team that will fight you for them, it is entirely possible to get all 15 shrines in one game (which you do not need to do). That method works best in a 3-Lane match as they have many more shrines to capture. This should only take a couple of games on that map.

  • Earn 50 Accolades total in any Battlegrounds matches

There are a total of 29 Accolades that you can unlock by doing various tasks in a Battlegrounds Match. You can see what they are exactly, and how many you have of each, by going to the Profile > Accolades section of the main menu. Depending on how you play, this could take anywhere from 10-20 games, win or lose.

  • Play as every Good Guardian once in Battlegrounds matches

Guardians - or the characters you play in the game - are unlocked in a number of ways. Some come unlocked once you play the game, Gandalf is unlocked by doing the tutorials, many guardians are purchasable, and each week there are a handful of paid guardians that you can play for free.

    Guardians for this achievement are:

    • Nori - 5000 gold
    • Hildifons - Free
    • Ori - 5000 gold
    • Gandalf - Complete the tutorial
    • Galadriel - 5000 gold
    • Eowyn - 5000 gold
    • Thrain - 5000 gold
    • Beregond - 5000 gold
    • Arathor - 5000 gold

As you play through the game you will unlock more characters, or you can just wait until each character has its own free week and just go for the achievement with minimal effort.

  • Play as every Evil Guardian once in Battlegrounds matches

Guardians - or the characters you play in the game - are unlocked in a number of ways. Some come unlocked once you play the game, many guardians are purchasable, and each week there are a handful of paid guardians that you can play for free.

    Guardians for this achievement are:

    • Gothmog - 5000 gold
    • Runsig - 5000 gold
    • Felgrom - 5000 gold
    • Lugbol - 5000 gold
    • Agandaur - 5000 gold
    • Wulfrun - 5000 gold
    • Witch-King - Free
    • Gollum - 5000 gold
    • Sauron - 5000 gold
    • Ugluk - Free
    • Mozgog - Free

As you play through the game you will unlock more characters, or you can just wait until each character has its own free week and just go for the achievement with minimal effort.

  • Damage every Guardian once in Battlegrounds matches

This achievement basically just tasks you with fighting every possible Guardian at least once in a Battlegrounds game; that means all of the Evil Guardians and all of the Good Guardians. See Servant of the Shadows and In the Light achievements for the two lists of Guardians to look out for. This achievement is partially luck based, though the game is pretty populated with people playing various classes, so it shouldn't take too long to get this.

  • Win 25 total Battlegrounds Matches

See "An Unexpected Journey" for more information.

  • Win 100 Battlegrounds or Skirmish Matches

Win at least 100 (non-Custom) online matches. You can see how many you have won thus far via the Profile > Statistics screen in the main menu, or the leaderboards. Both 1 and 3-Lane games are acceptable. You should have everything else unlocked by the time this unlocks; chances are quite a while before this unlocks. Regular and Elite Battlegrounds, as well as Skirmish wins all count toward the 100. Do note that your custom match wins will also be shown in the total wins section of your stats screen, and those do NOT count.

One way to hasten your progress is by going to Settings on the main screen using or and switching your game to Gold Mode, which is near the bottom of the settings. This will remove any DLC maps or guardians from your game, but it will allow you to play against primarily AI, and newbs, for easier kills/wins, and shorter wait times (usually).
