Halo 3: ODST

Halo 3: ODST Achievements

Good Samaritan

20
Killing things that are new and different is bad, alone or with another ODST.

While playing the ODST campaign, do not kill any of the Engineers. If you're playing co-op, tell your partners not to kill any either as this will jeopardize your chance of getting this achievement.

As long as you haven't killed any engineers, the achievement will unlock once you begin the mission, Data Hive.

I would suggest getting this on your first play through as it is easier.

While playing as the Rookie at night don't kill any engineers(floating tentacle
things).

How do you get this if you've already finished the game and killed several engineers. I have tried playing though the whole game again and this tims i left them alone, but I didn't get the achievement.

I am in the same situation. I have played through the campaign already. Do I have to start from scratch? Or can I just select the missions one at a time that I need?

Just don't kill any of the floating tentacle things (it doesn't count if they blow up of their own accord). If you do kill one, a counter for the 'Naughty Naughty' achievement will pop up at the left of the screen so either commit suicide or revert to your last save from the pause menu. This popped just before the 'Data Hive' mission for me.

if you the brute in charge of one and it then blows up, does that count?

Okay, somebody help me on this. You say, "If they blow themselves up, it doesn't
count, but when the first one appears in the hub, aka the one rigged with EXPLOSIVES
by the damn Brutes, I try to avoid it, it chases me, and then explodes itself.

And I get a pop for Naughty, Naughty.

What the eff am I supposed to do with that one? You can't get to the third mission
without passing those guys, so how do you keep from getting that one on your record?

play on easy and start a new game, just run through everything without killing any engineers. this should unlock at the beginning of data hive. after the rookie leaves the streets and jumps down the elevator shaft

I would recommend u to first play through the game without killing any of the engineers or as for me im too lazy to go through the whole game again, but the avatar award sounds cconvincing

Better yet just try to avoid as much combat as possible. The engineers usually appear on Rookie's stages, so if you're playing on easy just side step covenant patrols to avoid accidental kills.

This is actually a really easy achievement because the engineers (flying tentacle things) mostly appear when you play as the rookie but there have been some known to appear on other levels so keep on the look out for them and take things slow. Also you dont have to play the entire campaign, Just up to the level Data Hive and the achievement should pop then.

I think you can kill them in any level that doesn't have rookie in it. I think I killed som in the banshee mission, but the achievement popped up anyway.

I have played normal and heroicand avoided all these flying things,I noticed one blew up when I got into a firefight, when I entered the data hive nothing showed,if they blow up on there own accord,is that counted as a loss of one..

I completed the whole game on Normal and this didnt pop. SO i started again on Legendary and checked by killing one ENgineer and it said "Naughty Naughty 1/20" so i knew i hadnt killed one on accident. So i reloaded to before i killed that one engineer and I am trying to finish on Legendary hoping it pops this time.....

Did it on normal, first engineer you run into dies when the Brute in control dies. Must not have counted against me since I got the achievement right after entering the datahive

Pretty straightforward. Don't kill any engineers (the floating tentacle things).

The ones that blow up on their own shouldn't count against you. If you kill one by accident a counter for Naughty, Naughty will pop up. Just reload the last checkpoint. The achievement will unlock when you start the mission Data Hive.

I just got it. I started a new game on easy (I did not load Mombasa Streets) and just played through normally. I'm positive 2 engineers self-destructed while playing as The Rookie, and I know a ton of them were killed by my team on the level before Data Hive, but I didn't directly kill any of them myself. The cheevo popped as soon as the cut scene for the beginning of Data Hive was over.

If you changed campaign settings in the middle of the campaign, will you lose progress for this achivment and have to restart the campaign over?

To start a new game can I just reload the frist level and go from there, or do I need to delete my previous gamesave?

Heres how you do this one. You start the game over from the beginning (you don't have to delete your previous game progress) and play through the levels without killing any engineers. I did this on easy and just ran through the levels and I got the achievement. Also I think a couple of the engineers self destructed in my game but I still got it.

Load up the mission "Prepare To Drop" and play through the whole campaign and i got it by avoiding any squad that had an engineer. After running away or sneaking by any engineers i saw, i started "Data Hive" (Not exiting Mombasa Streets and loading it, just playing all the missions until Data Hive unlocks) and the achievement unlocks as soon as you enter it.
