Introduction:
Stranglehold is a rather enjoyable game to those that like third person shooters, with a few suspect abilities similar to those in The Matrix. As far as achievements are concerned, you’ll receive a large amount for simply progressing through the game, a larger amount for completing the 4 different difficulties and the rest are wrapped up by collectibles, style points, doing certain things on certain levels and the dreaded multiplayer achievements.
Step 1: Casual difficulty
Whilst on the Casual playthrough you should attempt “Ruthless”, “Chow Would Be Proud”, “I Don’t Know How To Play Those”, “Paleontologist” and “Stay Dry.” See the achievement guide for suitable information. It may seem obvious but always keep an eye out for Origami Cranes as one more picked up is one less to find later on, whilst on a harder difficulty.
Step 2: Hard Boiled Difficulty
This is unlocked by completing the first playthrough. Although the difficulty has greatly increased, this method saves a lot of time. Similar to last time, complete the campaign on Hard Boiled and try to pick up as many Origami Cranes as possible. Take your time, progress through the levels slowly and dispatch all enemies before moving on. There’s nothing more annoying than thinking you’ve killed everyone just to be shot in the back.
Step 3: Mop Up Single Player
By this point you should have all of the difficulty achievements, the three level specific achievements and hopefully some of the “Kill x enemies with certain move/certain item” achievements. If you haven’t, start up a new campaign and use the method the achievement guide calls for until you have it, all the while collecting more cranes. As well as this, get the remaining amount of style points required (7,650), which by this time shouldn’t be more than 2,000 at most.
After you have the 7,650 style points, go to the Unlock Shop once you’ve got and buy everything in the shop, this will net you your last two single player achievements.
Step 4: Online
The multiplayer achievements aren’t particularly taxing, even though the community is dead online, if you wait a couple of minutes someone will join your game, meaning these can be done legit. First of all do the 7 map achievements, setting the time limit to 1 minute each, you should knock these out quickly. After this you should concentrate on both the Tequila Bombs and Tequila Time multiplayer achievements, preferably as John Woo, killing three birds with one stone. After this, start the long slog to 307 kills whilst at some point going into a ranked match to get “Killing Spree.”
Step 6: DLC
Finally the DLC achievements, all are rather easy with very few problems. If you require someone to help, post HERE.
Conclusion:
At this point you should have the maximum points, but if this isn’t the case then refer to the achievement guide for guidance, or repeat the relevant steps above. All in all, a relatively simple 1250 and a rather enjoyable one at that.
