Introduction: Welcome to my Kinectimals guide. The focus of the game is to "explore" an island setting while piecing together a map that unlocks new areas to explore. The general mechanic to follow in all the areas is; teach your cub new tricks, play, feed and care for your animal and look for hidden treasure to add points to your Discovery bar located at the top of the screen. Once you reach a milestone on the Discovery bar you then unlock a contest for medals and prizes. Complete the contest and you are taken back to the Freeplay section to start over again gaining points toward the next milestone. There is also a little bit of shopping and decorating to do along the way or after the story mode is finished. Everything can be replayed via a level select feature on your map screen. You need to first physically travel to the area you want and then open your map again and select the same area again, to access the different contests in that section.
Step 1 - Play through the story mode of the game and get as many of the gold medals on the contests as you can this first time through. There is an achievement for getting all golds and you also win prizes for getting certain medals as well. You don't have to get all gold the first time and you can replay the event immediately if you'd like another shot. You can also do horrible and not medal at all and still proceed with the story mode of the game. You can come back to anything later via level select.
Below is the game outline and what to expect and shoot for from each level. This is by no means the ONLY way to play the game it is just my suggestion. The game is fairly open with respect to gaining non-story related achievements.

Following the basic guidelines above, you should be pretty close to completing everything in the story mode. You do not have to get the achievements in the order I listed them. I just grouped them together by where I think they fit best. The only thing left to grind out may be getting gold medals and completing a couple of tricks. This concludes playthrough 1.
Step 2 - The multiplayer portion is where the 0.25 playthrough comes in. You have to play (or have someone else play) at least the first area and a portion of the second area on a DIFFERENT profile. All the multiplayer achievements can be done locally but you do need to have or create 3 additional profiles on your hard drive. They are all pretty simple and once you get used to the swapping mechanic you'll be done in no time. Some times you need to join someone elses game and other times you need to have them join you. Just check the achievement guide under "No 'I' in Team" for exact specifics to unlock them all at once if you get stuck.
Step 3 - Mop up and replay any contests that you need to and spend your money buying furniture and toys for those last few achievements. I do recommend doing the decorating achievements toward the end because you do unlock some items that you will need for the different themes while getting medals in the various contests. Also before buying any furniture, look at "Mix and Match" and "Fixer Upper". I have listed the items I used to unlock these 2 achievements. This way you can buy only those pieces of furniture and save the rest of your cash for buying the toys. There is no reason to buy the rest of the furniture unless you just want too. Should save a little bit of time.
Conclusion:
Overall the game is not too long or too difficult to reach 800. The remaining 200 points will come from buying all the required items, learning all the tricks and getting gold medals. The gold medals are the only part where you might run into trouble as they do get harder as the game progresses.
Hope you have fun with the game and if you hated it, well maybe the guide will help make it less painful.
Thanks for reading.
