Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Achievements

Message in a Bottle

Locate all eight message bottles in Gallows End.

The eight bottles can be found in the following locations:

  1. As soon as you wash up on the island, on the right side of the beach.
  2. To the left of the entrance to Souldeep Fasting.
  3. At the bottom of the ramp leading to Tidal Pools. You need to jump from the platform the gallows are on in Cape Solace to reach this area.
  4. In the "middle finger" of the northern shore of Scuttle Beach.
  5. Directly across the river from Aubrey Gilcrest.
  6. In the "outdoor" section of Mudhold Fasting, where the woman for the side-quest is located.
  7. In the "outdoor" section of Undersea Fasting, the very farthest point of the dungeon.
  8. Just outside the entrance to Brigand's Hideaway. You must start the side-quest "The Exiles" after completing the main quest to access this area.

The bottles do not show up on your map (unless you have the Dowsing Rod pre-order item), nor do they have any type of "glow" like normal lootable objects. The achievement will unlock as soon as you hit to take the eighth bottle.

I'm still trying to track down #6. They're reasonably noticeable but still easy to look over if you aren't paying attention. Here's a couple tips that I've picked up:

1. Generally they appear in order along with the story.
2. They show up on your detailed map when you hit Select, but *not* on the mini map. I'm not sure what level you need Detect Hidden to be at for this. My strategy has been to collect all the reagants in an area, then hit select to pull up the map and see if anything's left over.

Another thing I'll say (more general about the game) is that jump points are only occasionally marked on the map in the DLC, so sometimes you may have to wander around to find the way to jump to an area that contains one of these messages.

I believe #6 is at the end of Mudhold Fasting. Bottom left of the map.

I can't find #8.

Thanks for the tip on the map. I just finished the DLC story and have only found one, and that was complete luck.

I've only found #1 and #4, I have a maxed out Detect Hidden skill and they do not appear on the mini map like lorestones do. They don't show up on the world map either. I will check Mudhold Fasting for a bottle. If anyone else has found bottles give us a hand.

#1 - Near the starting area, where you wash ashore.
#2 - Just east of Souldeep Fasting
#3 - In front of the Tidal Pools. Make your way to the highest lookout point in Cape Solace to jump down.
#4 - Northeastern part of Scuttle Beach
#5 is near Aubrey Gilcrest on the other side of the water
#6 In the clearing at the end of Mudhold Fasting
#7 Near the end of Undersea Fasting
#8 Just outside of Brigand's Hideaway

Yeah - you have to finish the quest with Dead Kel before you can access it.

At the risk of sounding incredibly stupid, I have a question.. I have never been able to see any reagents on the detailed map for this game (not talking about the minimap). I have heard that these bottles show up as a reagent on the detailed map, but I never even knew that reagents show up on the map at all. And I have completed the game, twice. Oops. Is there some way to turn this option on?

I defeated Dead Kel, but when I ran out of the cave to meet Captain Brattigan...we were immediately on a ship sailing away. I did not have time to search for the last message in a bottle. Now, I have 7 out of 8 bottles, and I can't figure out how to get back to the hideout. The cave collapsed, I can't fast travel, and there are no jump points to get back down to that beach area. Can someone help me?

Never mind, I went back to where that bottle was supposed to be and it was there again. I'm sure I picked it up before...maybe it just reappeared when I destroyed it

@13 There's no option for that, you need that alchemist rod DLC pre-order thing, not sure what it's called.
