Shamus To The Stars
Complete all story cases with a five star rating.
There's a total of 21 cases you need to 5 star to gain this achievement. You'll need to make sure you find the majority of the clues, branch all the interrogation questions correctly and have minimal vehicle/city damage and civilian injuries. In some cases you'll also need to make sure you pick the right suspect to charge. Sometimes it may seem that both are guilty, but charging the wrong one will only net you 4 stars, whereas charging the other will get you the 5 star rating you need!

@10, I think so too, but there are different avenues to explore in terms of getting to the answer, plus I do not think this will be a game I play 5 times in a row. This seems like one of those games I pop in every now and then.
This achievement looks like it will unlock on the way to 100% anyway, which I plan to get

and most liekly have to try over couple times to get it right.

easy with guide for feathers n subject 16 stuff ill then got to this next, ahh

#22, Thats what a second playthrough is for. I plan to play through this once without any help and get things right and get things wrong as I finish the story. After that I'll get a guide that tells me which option to choose on which suspect since the cases will always be the same. I want to play once with pure surprise and not worry about 100% or 5-star ratings.

The good part about this is the ability to select the case @ the main menu & do it over from there as opposed to playing through the entire game again.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011 @ 02:03:55 AM
This is no where near as hard as it sounds. To get a five star rating on a case you just need to collect every possible clue and interrogate every suspect correctly. It will tell you at the end of each case what the totals for each are. If you want to do this in one playthrough just simply quite if you get a question wrong. It may take a few tries but its a sure fire way. If you want to just enjoy the game and would like to get this later there is an option to replay very case. Im sure I dont have to explain how this game works if you are going for this achievement.

This seems super EASY!! I've played the game for just a little while, and I can see that it is completely doable.. So far, when people have lied, it has been super easy to call out. Even if you're unsure, you amass "intuition" (I think that's what it was called) and you can spend some of those points to either narrow down the possible choices, or find out what the other detectives would think.Oh yeah, and within the week, somebody will have written a complete guide on the correct answers and relevant clues... So, if you are too lazy to figure it out on your own, you could always wait. But I think that would ruin the excitement of the game completely... But who am I?
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 @ 03:21:09 AM
Well.. Replaying cases is kind of a pain in the chili hole because this game doesn't let you skip cinematics unless you fail enough. So, you have to sit through them even though you've seen them. Just a fore warning.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011 @ 12:47:47 PM
Okay so this was simpler then I thought... and there IS a trick to it. From what I found, you can even get this and the one with ALL missions on 5 stars in one play through, but I am not that patient so I will restart when I get all the other achievements, I used my made up techniques and nails a case, I do not plan on taking my time with many others but now I know how. Also I haven't even used intuition yet and I got my 5 star...
as for getting the questions right, if you guess wrong, quickly hit start and quit before the game saves and try again... every time! works just fine but it will bring you back to the outside of the place you were conducting the interview, and if you are at the FIRST location for any given case, you may have to do clues again.

(I cannot do more then 2 para per comment so bare with me)
Next, or actually FIRST... look around everywhere in your current case, especially behind the house, bar, location that you are in... the clues do not seem to range to far for normal cases. This helps when you question people because you can often nail them the first time around if you have your clues, and it will help you skip BIG steps and still pass the case with a 5 star (example when I did the case with the wife/ life insurance on her hubby that supposedly got hit by a car, I never had to complete the chase after the hit and run guy and I still nailed the case with a 5 star, also all the clues were in/ around the bar and house.)

(reposting from my last)
and last ... If you pick up a high speed chase during your case, I dont think the damage caused during this time effects the actual case... I caused all types of damage during these and just drove normally from place to place during the case locations itself and I still got my 5 star, just avoid car accidents or side walks... which us why I said I can do the ach with ALL 5 stars later, I do not have the patience.
So, if you have all the clues, questions right and havent caused any damage or injuries to anything/ anyone... you get your 5 star. But to me the big thing is getting all the questions right and finding all the clues.
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 @ 12:52:28 PM
Also, as for questioning people if anyone doesn't get it still, if they look straight and do NOT look around, its true, if they look around a little then doubt it, bu if they are looking ALL over the place with a really stupid look on their face, then it is a lie but you better make sure you have something to back it up, if you realize you do not have a clue when you look into your note pad... then hit the B button to get out and your guy will take it back, LIE accusation is the only one that works for... Hope I was able to help someone.
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 @ 12:58:24 PM
BTW... if you get everything but this one on your first play through, you can skip high speed or w/e they are called, chases, you do not have to do any side missions and yyou may just complete these straight through... there is also a "restart case" choice in the menu if you get to the end of the case (before it saves) and realize you did something wrong.
So far, I like it.

just as a tip to those who think its impossible, u dont have to get all the

easiest way to get this is after you finish the game they give you 5 intuiton points per case.just play through the case and use the intuition points on the questions only and write down what answer is right. that way if you fail you can use the intuition points on other questions. i started this yesterday and i finished all traffic and homicide on 5 stars

At first I thought this was going to be a pain to get, which it will, but now I'm glad they've put it in. Playing through the game and getting even one question/response wrong in a case can change it all so by going through again getting everything spot on gives you the full story and you get to see more of the cleverness behind some of the cases.

@99 There is no time limit. I wouldn't bother using a walkrthrough guide as your first play as it takes away the fun of the game and well a waste of money buying the game in the first place.
The driving 194 miles is easy enough on the first run through, just don't let your partner drive.
I just finished the game and now going to do my second run through, and this time I can skip the driving and use the guide on cases where I didn't get 5 stars.

@70 Ye the 95 car achievement is a pain am 6 cars away from getting 120G, 30G for finding all the cars an then 80G for completing the game 100%
Also if you don't wanna play the game twice then use the guides available, save you hours of play.

when you start replaying cases to 5 star them, remember you have 5 intuitions to use, best used when searching for clues to make it a lot easier. dont use them on interrogations since you can just read the guide.

The White Shoe Slaying case is pissing me off. 17/17 clues, 17/17 Questions, $0 in damages/accidents. Still just 4 stars. WTF??

Ok, the damage limit is bullshit. For example, on manifest destiny, I specifically made sure to drive carefully in both chases, found every clue, got every question right, and still only got 4 stars due to damage. I didn't even hit anything really. I think the worst thing I did was knock over a traffic light. Is it generally better to try to take them out right away (so that they destroy less stuff) or wait until they get owned and then take them out?

also 107, if you had all those you'd have the achievement (there are only 13). Better just go from the beginning again. Or maybe try watching some videos and find the one that doesn't look familiar.

You must be doing something wrong than. I have missions with some damage, everything right. Maybe it's the question sequence you're doing wrong?
It's a bit misleading sometimes, because you get a noteblock with 3 questions.
First you obviously do the first one, THAN the third one, getting another answer. to get a new question.

Nah. I got every question right. If you miss a question it tells you at the end. I think it was just a glitch or something, because I'm pretty sure hitting a traffic light should NOT cause over $2,000 worth of damage, lol.

I had played until Manifest Destiny (disc 3), case 16 i think. Then decide to replay earlier cases for 5 star rating that i missed. All my save slot have 'replay' label.
How can i play the next case, which in my case, case 17?
NEW? - of course not. CASES? - just for one case. RESUME? - case 16 and it is end there. Not continue to next case...
Please help me..

Are you totally destroying their car?
If you ram it in to a tree or whatever, you get billed for the car.
If you let your partner shoot the tyres out so the guy skids to a stop, it's OK.
At least that was what I did most of the time, and I never had any issues with damage.

Just wanted to mention that even though the achievement guide says you need to get 5 stars in 21 cases, it's really only 16.

So far so good with this. Finished disc one and even missed a clue on the last case. Just keep your questions right and as many clues as possible and you should be golden. And don't rack up the damage bills.

On my first playthrough I only had a few 5 star ratings. When playing through cases again do I also need to get 5 stars on the DLC cases with them being on there or do I just need to get 5 stars on the original 21?

Why would anyone use a guide on their first playthrough? Why buy a game if you're going to get all answers given to you in your original playthrough.

i like how if you don't get the achievement right away "IT'S A GLITCH". it really isn't that hard of an achievement, or game even. it's neck a neck with red dead redemption and assassin's creed (series) as my fav. games. i waited until the complete edition came out and got it new for $30. no online play, who cares. it's definitely gonna get a replay from me and probably a few friends. also, after spending about 2 1/2 days of total playing time on a game, does anyone really need to sink anymore time into playing the same thing?

Use ign's guide and you will get this so easily. I'm on 'manifest destiny' right now and so far have all 5 star cases from using their guide. http://www.ign.com/wikis/la-noire/Walkthrough

This isn't difficult at all, just follow a guide and you'll get this no problem. Theres 21 cases but you only have to do 16, seeing as you can only get rated from them.

This achievement may seem like it
's evil, but once you complete it, it seems like it was something you accomplished. I have this L.A noire book guide I got with the game so it helps tremendously. It may take forever but you gotta have the willpower. Good luck everybody:)
