What a crappy idea for a cheevo. Now it's every two weeks! I hope no one else adopts this tactic with their cheevos!

I've played well over 10 different Mutations, It doesn't always count toward my total. I've been attempting this for months now!

If a mutation doesn't count, try this: After you play the mutation, jump into a quickmatch of Realism vs. You should get credit for the mutation.

thanks heaps man, that actually worked! I started playing last week and my total went from 4/6 o 5/6, so I assumed it would work this week too. It did not. I played 3 games of Mutation, and nothing. I loaded up a local Realism Versus (using a second controller) and it finally unlocked. Whats odd is it didn't unlock until a few minutes into the RV match, and the Avatar Item (Gnome Chompski) actually unlocked first. Either way, thanks heaps.

Curious, I could have sworn its hit the two week mark, anyone got a little more info on this finished all my lfd1 acheevos and soon will be with prt2, if anyone can help me understand how mutations work (schedule wise) it'd be greatly helpful.

Alright, this sucks. I've been trying the Realism VS thing, and it still doesn't count. I've been stuck at 4/6 for the past two mutations, I should have it by now. But, nope.

I was using the trick Cletus pointed out, this worked before... however I believe these douches bags some how patched this, so now there is no way to get this achievement. I've honestly been trying at this for two months or so now. If you played an entire mutation start to end and jump in to a quick match of realism vs and I would be giving the credit. Now that I'm one f'n credit away from unlocking this it just stops working. I've tired playing several mutations in a row then playing a realism vs quick match and it still hasn't worked. I'm going to try to dick around with this a couple more times hopefully I can find a way to make this work. If anyone has any input in how this can work now please share anything you may have that would be of use.

DX Aeon, the mutation schedule is set as so. Every two weeks (every Friday) they'll be changing it, it used to be a weeks wait time now it's two... but this achievment isn't even working anymore so I don't know if my telling you this will really matter. But hey if it does work let me know

Ugh, it switched finally, but I'm there with ya guys, stuck at 4/6 and played countless games start to finish, did the realism stuff, cleaned my cache... everything.... I managed to getall my l4d1 achievements and only 5 away from maxing 2... suckage... thanks though for the reply :)

Yes!!!!! Finally after months of trying and I finally got this God forsaken achievement! I believe they may have actually patched the problem, so you may no longer have to play a mutation then a realism vs match right after to get credit for the mutation from what it looks like. I had 5/6 for the longest time, I signed in the other night with my buddy and as soon as the mutation loaded it popped up, seconds later the pop up for the avatar accessory came. Yes Gnome Chompski, I've finally captured you!!! ^_^
Now tell me where the rest of the underpants gnomes are, and where the fuck have you been taking my boxers?!

I got credit for playing the one released Oct. 21. I had to play it twice as my system locked up during the first play through (RRoD incoming). The tally updated while playing the second time.

I finally got credit for this achievement with this week's mutation: IronMan. I don't know of this is a new game type, which may have done I for me, or if Valve fixed something. Either way, I'm happy it finally popped and I figured i'd mention so maybe it'd help some other frustrated soul.

I am doin something wrong. I play Mutation, then Realism vs, and only 2 of my Mutation attempts counted. Do you have to play a certain amount of time in Mutation?

I think it doesn't work because a bug or you just can't do a mutation you've already done, but Steam says its because they had "Community Mutations" not "Custom Mutations" that you actually need for this achievement. if you go to the Left 4 Dead 2 Wikia, it'll tell you all the original mutations and if you're playing a "Community" one or not. But I hope I don't run into any problems because I'm just starting this achievement and God, I am NOT joining a realism versus to get this!!! I don't care if it works, I'm not prepared get my ass handed to me by a bunch of 30 year olds who have played L4D2 forever and are on the enemy team.
I hope that sort of helped.

This achievement took me a long time to get. When at the main menu press Y when highlighting 'Mutation' and it will scroll through all the various games. I got 1 tick then played again, no tick? Valve have stopped making new Mutations but released 1 new one every few weeks when the game was new(ish). I have since realised you need to play different Mutations but also every three weeks, I.E..
1) Gib Fest, then 3 weeks later;
2) Last Man on Earth, then 3 weeks later..
You do not even need to complete the Mutation, just load it then hit start and quit, you will see a tick on your list of 6 Mutations in the achievements list at the main menu.
I only need Heartwarmer and Strength in Numbers..if your up for doing these add me: MIKE1989TW
