Don't feel guilty using the cheats, they are just a part of the game. Using them will make your quest to 1000 much quicker and easier. just be sure that after you enter them, you save, and each time you play, to turn them on. You don't need to enter them every time, but by default they are off.

There is much to do and collect in the game. Use the COLLECTIBLE GUIDES to find them all.

Step #1- Story Mode playthrough
There are so many things to collect in this game in can be overwhelming. Some of these things cannot be unlocked until later in Free Play when you can freely switch to different characters to solve different puzzles. Therefore, I feel it is best to just simply complete every level in Years 1-4 without worrying about any collectibles. You might me spending too much time trying to reveal a secret door or location when your Story characters don't even have the right spells or abilities. Just play, beat the story, and worry about bricks or crest pieces later. I would even suggest leaving your various "detector" cheats off in this playthrough so you don't get sidetracked. Your multipliers and invincibility cheats are alright though.

The only missable achievement involves the Story. A ghost leads you from one level to the next in Hogwarts. Collect 500 ghost studs that he leaves behind as you can't do this after the Story is complete. No worries though, just make sure to grab the ghost studs instead of running ahead and you'll collect 500 by then end of Year 1 for sure.

Step #2- Free Play
Now that you have completing the 24 Story Levels, it's time to go back and play each level in Free Play where you can switch characters on the fly. Completing each level again in Free Play is required but you'll want to anyways to find all your collectibles. Along with the COLLECTIBLE GUIDE, you should also have your "detector" cheats on when looking for crest pieces, gold bricks, characters, etc. Each level also contains a Student in Peril that you must rescue. You'll need to buy one of each character "type" to access every secret area or perform certain tasks. Someone who can use Dark Magic (Quirrel, Snape), one that can pull heavy chains (Hagrid), a key character (Griphook), and ideally someone from each house. Professor Dumbledore can access ANY house, so he's a good one to have.

Step #3- Roam around Hogwarts
There are many more bricks and students to find in and around Hogwarts. With your guide and detectors you can find everything you need for getting towards 100% completion.

Step #4- Buy...EVERYTHING
If you have collected everything, rescued everyone, now is the time to purchase everything in the shops. Assuming you use score multipliers, studs are not an issue. Purchase every character, every spell, every brick. This will count towards 100% as well as many achievements.

Step #5- Bonus Levels
In your Leaky Cauldron hub you can explore some other areas and shops. There are various tutorial and build-a-levels below Gringotts Bank. Also, after obtaining all 200 gold bricks, you will unlock a bonus level in Borgin & Bukes.

Step #6- Role Reversal(s)
Besides the actual achievement with the same name, there are a few "defeat X character with X character" type achievements. With everything unlocked you will have the available characters to do so in Free Play.

Conclusion
Completing everything is time consuming, but it isn't necessarily hard. Most of the difficulty will be in your patience of collecting everything. Some achievements weren't mentioned in the roadmap but just use some common sense to know when to get them, or if you've missed anything just finish them up after Step #6.

  • Complete All Story Lessons (Single Player Only)

All are Story related except the Transfiguration spell class. This is located by all the other classrooms. Check the COLLECTIBLES GUIDE for a map of Hogwarts.

  • Complete the Story Levels in all four years

With the ability to use cheats that make you invincible from damage or falling, simply completing all the Story Levels won't present any challenge. Your journey through the Story Levels should focus on obtaining crests, Red Bricks, etc. There are a total of 24 Story Levels.

  • Collect all of the house crests in Year 1 (Single Player Only)

    See "The Ultimate Collector"

  • Collect all of the house crests in Year 2 (Single Player Only)

    See "The Ultimate Collector"

  • Collect all of the house crests in Year 3 (Single Player Only)

    See "The Ultimate Collector"

  • Collect all of the house crests in Year 4 (Single Player Only)

Each level contains four crest pieces to form one house crest. Some pieces can be acquired in your story playthrough while others will require you to go back in Free Play as you may need a certain character, or didn't have a spell unlocked yet to get to a piece. Between the 4 years, you will collect 96 pieces for a total of 24 house crests.

Use this COLLECTIBLES GUIDE as your companion through each level and use the Crest Detector cheat (TTMC6D) to help unearth them.

  • Collect all of the Red Bricks (Single Player Only)

There are a total of 20 red bricks in the Single Player game. 19 of them can be unlocked and collected by entering in the various cheats (see roadmap). Red Brick 18 is the only one that can't be unlocked through entering cheats. This 18th Red Brick first shows up on your way to Year 2 Level 2 as you are making your way through Hogwarts. There is a courtyard with a fountain surrounded by four statues. Destroy the statues, and with the remains form a knight. He then comes alive and plunges the water out of the fountain, and your Red Brick container appears. Bring it to Hedwig in the upper left corner and the last Red Brick is yours!

If you happened to use a cheat to unlock your 20th Red Brick, as opposed to using the method above, you won't get your achievement until you re-collect any Red Brick again. Then the game recognizes you indeed have 20 and you will unlock it then.

If you do not want to use cheats to unlock the Red Bricks, you can use the COLLECTIBLES GUIDE to find them. If you want to find them yourself, but with a Red Brick Detector use this cheat (7AD7HE).

  • Collect all of the Gold Bricks (Single Player Only)

There are a total of 200 Gold Bricks in the game. You earn Gold Bricks from completing puzzles and tasks during the main story, such as students in peril, completing crests, achieving True Wizard, etc. You find or acquire them here:

    • 72 from Story Levels. 3 per level: Achieve True Wizard, Find all four crest pieces and complete the level.
    • 50 for saving all the Students In Peril
    • 34 hidden in Hogwarts
    • 16 for completing every lesson
    • 12 available for purchase from Eeylops Owl Emporium. They cost a total of 6.6 million studs. You can enter cheats to get these, but studs are not very scarce in this game with multipliers on.
    • 10 for beating every Gringotts bonus level
    • 4 for making the Lego items under the Diagon Alley pub
    • 1 in Diagon Alley
    • 1 in Knockturn Alley

Use the COLLECTIBLES GUIDE as your companion once again. You will need 200 bricks to unlock Voldemort. Use your Gold Brick Detector cheat (84QNQN) as well.

  • Rescue all students in peril (Single Player Only)

There are a total of 50 students to rescue spanning Hogwarts and the story missions. If you see a Lego person in trouble, help them! Rescuing students nets you 50/200 Gold Bricks. Their locations are all in the COLLECTIBLES GUIDE.

  • Get True Wizard in every level (Single Player Only)

Each level has a set amount of studs required to collect, and reaching that amount is called True Wizard. While working on "Story Complete" this achievement is just about impossible NOT to get, assuming you have activated all 5 of the Score Multipliers. You can activate all 5 of them to get a x3850 multiplier (2x4x6x8x10=3840). You will achieve True Wizard status within seconds of starting a level with all the multipliers active. The Score Multiplier cheats are:

    Score x2 74YKR7
    Score x4 J3WHNK
    Score x6 XK9ANE
    Score x8 HUFV2H
    Score x10 H8X69Y

Like all cheats, you will have to turn them on in the Extras menu every time you play.

  • Complete the game to 100% (Single Player Only)

Do everything, buy everything, unlock everything.

    • Beat all 24 Story Levels
    • Re-beat every level in Free Play
    • Complete every Story Lesson along the way
    • Complete every Bonus/Tutorial Levels
    • Collect 200 Gold Bricks
    • Collect 20 Red Bricks
    • Save 50 Students in Peril
    • Find every character token and buy those characters in the store
    • Collect every crest piece and complete 24 House Crests
    • Purchase all additional spells
    • Unlock and purchase every single character

This is what you need to do, but for how to do it, as always, refer to your COLLECTIBLES GUIDE. I suggest playing through the Story once without worrying so much about all this, and then replaying the levels and collecting everything you missed in the second playthrough on Free play.

If you have 100% completion with no achievement, try re-playing a level and you should unlock it then. This is a common glitch with a common solution to most "Lego 100%" achievements.

  • Buy every version of Voldemort (Quirrell/Tom Riddle/Voldemort) (Single Player Only)

    Professor Quirrel
Location: Hogwarts, Pendulum Row (accessible from DATDA Classroom - open the Dark Magic gate in the back).

Go to the lower area (down the stairs) and traverse across to find the token.

    Tom Riddle
    Location: Year 2, Level 6.

You'll need to proceed far enough for the Basilisk to go under water. Then go to the far right and use a key character on the vault.

    Lord Voldemort
    Location: Borgin & Bukes

After collecting all 200 Gold Bricks, go to Borgin & Bukes and build the golden doorway to unlock a Bonus level, and Voldemort.

  • Buy the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team from Book One (Single Player Only)

The Gryffindor Quidditch team conists of Oliver Wood, Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, and Harry Potter. Fred, George, and Harry all have their own Quidditch outfits, their other versions will not count. Refer to the definitive COLLECTIBLES GUIDE.

  • Use the Time-Turner

This ability is locked until the beginning of Year Four. Hermione uses this ability in The Prisoner of Azkaban (Year Three). Find a grandfather clock like the one pictured in the tile and press in front of it. The Gryffindor dorm room in Year 4 has a clock as well as outside near Hagrid's house.

  • Complete all the LEGO Builder tutorial levels (Single Player Only)

Below Gringotts Bank there are several bonus and tutorial levels. There are 4 different tutorial levels to complete.

  • Defeat 20 enemies with Fang

This can be done right when you play as Fang for the first time in "The Forbidden Forest". A hornet's nest will repeatedly spawn characters. Pounce on 20 of them.

  • Buy the entire Weasley family (Single Player Only)

    (1)

There are 7 Weasley family members to purchase (despite the tile only showing 6): Ron, Ginny, Fred, Percy,  George, Arthur and Molly. Some of these characters have multiple versions, just need to buy at least one of each. Refer to the definitive COLLECTIBLES GUIDE.

  • Defeat Quirrell in the Quirrell boss fight, using Voldemort

    (7)

This will only be available to do in Free Play, and after you have unlocked Lord Voldemort. You will need all 200 gold bricks to unlock him, so don't worry about this until you are at the end of your playthroughs. This boss fight is in Level 1-6, the last level of Year One.

  • Collect 10 million studs in one level (Single Player Only)

With all your multipliers on, you should get well over 10 million just a short way through just about any level.

  • Defeat 20 spiders with Ron

While you may have killed a few here and there along the way, you can kill an infinite amount of spiders during the Aragog (spider) boss battle in Year 2. He spits out spiders that Ron can kill. Rather than defeating the boss, defeat 20 of the spiders first.

  • Freeze 20 characters using Glacius

You can use a cheat (ERA9DR) to unlock this ability. Once activated, exit the Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment where you entered your cheat, and freeze (and re-freeze when needed, that counts) 20 people in the alley.

  • Boo!

    10

Scare 20 students using a ghost character

There are several ghost characters to choose from. Press to scare people. Just go scare 20 people in Diagon Alley alley right after you buy a ghost character.

  • Unlock all Animagi (Single Player Only)

    (12)

The unconfirmed list of Animagi characters are:

    Sirius Black
    Professor McGonagle
    Peter Pettigrew
    Rita Skeeter
Remus Lupin (not truly an Animagi, but required for the achievement)

Their locations and how to unlock them can be found in the COLLECTIBLES GUIDE.

  • Defeat the mountain troll, using Quirrell

    (5)

Once you unlock Quirrell (see "Dark Wizards") replay the mission "Out of the Dungeon" in Free Play and defeat him.

  • Knock over ten characters using a ride-able object

The very first level presents two ride-able objects. First, in the ally before the bank there are some green chairs and a green table. Shoot it with your wand, and the chairs will start "bouncing" around. Get close and press to mount, then knock over 10 people (can be the same people). Second, in Gringotts bank there is a cart you can ride around and run over people. Another easy place to find a ride-able object is level 2-1 outside of the Weasley's house. There's a tractor and a pumpkin you can drive.

  • Hide in a barrel as Snape

    (21)

The very first Story level has a barrel located on the street. In Free Play, switch to Professor Snape and and hit to enter the barrel.

You will unlock Profressor Snape once you have access to the Secret Area in the Potions room. To access this room you will need a Hufflepuff character, a book carrying character, and a character with a key. His icon is located in a chest in the Secret Area.

  • Defeat Harry (as Voldemort), in the Graveyard

With Lord Voldemort unlocked, switch your character to him, and switch the other to Harry. Now, as Voldemort, choose the spell Avada Kedavra (the green one with a skull logo) and defeat him. You don't actually need to be in the Graveyard, just anywhere in the last Story Level (Year 4, Level 6). This will obviously need to be done in Free Play, and you will have had to acquire all 200 gold bricks to unlock Voldemort. Once you have 200 gold bricks go to Borgin & Bukes and build a golden doorway. This leads to a Bonus Level where you unlock him.

  • Turn the sound and music down to 0 in the options menu whilst in the library

The library is located in Year 1, Level 4. This is "The Restricted Section" level where you use your invisibility cloak for the first time. Once you start the level, pause, turn the music and sound both down to 0 in the options, than un-pause. Otherwise, if you miss out on this opportunity you can find the library while roaming around Hogwarts.

  • Defeat 10 enemies with a Muggle character

A Muggle is any "ordinary" character with no special abilities. They can only punch or melee basically. Any of the Dursley characters, or the Station Guard, Milkman, etc. (see the COLLECTIBLES GUIDE if you are looking for a particular character), Replay the level "The Forbidden Forest" and destroy some wasps like you did for "Good Dog" and use your Muggle character.

  • Destroy 50 Devil's Snare plants

These are the yellow circular plants with green vines spiraling out of them. You will know they are Devil's Snares as they are the ones you need to shoot your wand with, rather than simply presenting light to it. Lumos Solem is the name of the achievement, and the spell you need to use on these.

This achievement is best to visit once you have completed the entire Story. Make sure you destroy these as you progress, but there is a way of mopping this up easily should you need to defeat more. The first and second build-a-levels underneath Gringotts Bank have 8-10 Devil Snares that you construct then can destroy in each level. Complete the level and re-do these ones for a great way to get to 50.

Replaying "Face of the Enemy" in Free Play (Year 1, Level 6) will net you 5 plants near the start (after distracting the three-headed dog). Destroy the 5 plants, then Save & Quit, and repeat if necessary.

  • Complete the Quidditch level within five minutes

This is the third story level in Year One, "A Jinxed Broom". The first time through you probably won't get it as you are still being introduced to some of the gameplay features. Replay it one or two times with all your cheats on (Invincibility, Fall Rescue, Fast Magic) and you can get the hang of it. Ron and Hermione are really the only two people you need to complete this in less than 5 minutes, so if you don't want to worry about switching to useless characters, just replay the level in Story Mode.

  • Collect 500 ghost studs

Between Story Levels at Hogwarts, a ghost character leads you to your next objective, leaving ghost studs behind him. Follow behind him and you should get 500 studs by the third of forth mission in Year 1. The ghost goes away after the final story mission, but you seriously should have this by then of Year 1 if not earlier.
