Lode Runner is a frustrating yet enjoyable arcade game. The objective in the game is to collect gold and escape the level before the enemies catch you. To help you, you have your trusty blaster that can be used to blast parts of the level and trap enemies. The game modes can be done in any order.

Single Player:
Use the Practice levels to learn how to play the game. After completing the practice levels begin the Original Journey. The Journey has 16 worlds with 5 levels per world for a toatal of 80 levels. Completing the Single Player Journey will give you the Gold Star and Gold, Mine achievements.

  • Tips for the Single Player Journey:
    • Practice, it’s the only way to truly get better at this game
    • Learn safe places in the level. Many levels have a place where you cannot be reached by the enemies
    • Trap enemies when you can. This is not blasting a block and the enemy falling into the spot, but getting an enemy to fall into a place that they cannot leave.
    • If you still need help ask in this forum.

Next start the Original Puzzles. This mode challenges you to figure out how to finish one level. You need to complete 30 puzzles for the "Big Ore-Deal" achievement. Use this thread if you need any help to figure out the puzzles.

Next begin the Hang On mode. This mode has you collecting as much gold as you can while more enemies spawn. You need to earn a bronze medal on all 8 levels. The trick to this is to collect as much gold as you can early. You can die as soon as you get enough gold for the bronze medal.

The Co-op Journey works the same way as the Single Player Journey, except that you are playing with another person. The Co-op Journey has 12 worlds with 4 levels each for a total of 48 levels. Completing this mode will give you the "Double Up" and "Double Down" achievements. This mode can be done either locally or on Xbox Live.

Note that you only need to complete Level 12-4 for the Double Down achievement. If you can find some one that has already completed it you can join their game and just do that level.
Achievement Trading Thread

For "Golden Rule" start a New Journey and during the first 5 levels (Level 1-1 to Level 1-5) do not kill any enemies. Killing an enemy happens when a block that you blast returns before the enemy gets out of the space. Try to collect as much gold as possible without traping the enemies and when you must wait until the enemy is relatively close to blast the block.

For "Blast Off" and "Fool’s Gold", take your time and watch the videos on how to do this before you try. Otherwise all you can do for these is to practice Level 3-1 until you manage to get the achievements.

"Gold Rush" and "Treasure Hunter" will likely come through normal gameplay but if you don’t replay some of the levels until they unlock.

For the "Metal of Honor" achievement you need to win 5 Last Man matches on Xbox LIVE. Last Man matches are matches that last a certain number of rounds, where the winner is the person that lives the longest during all the rounds. Once you are defeated you gain control of an enemy so quickly try and get to your opponent so that he will last for less time. Online is fairly dead for this game so use the Achievement Trading Thread to get this achievement. You can set the match to 1 round for boosting purposes.

Skill Expansion Pack

This DLC has you completing more puzzles by blasting and collecting gold before escaping. Make sure that you are using the Skill Expansion Pack puzzles and not the Original puzzles

The sole achievement in this DLC pack unlocks after you complete 4 of the Skill Expansion Pack puzzles. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th puzzles are considered the easiest to complete. If you need any help this post has a written guide for completing these four levels.

This is a quick DLC that only requires the completion of 4 puzzles, not all as the achievement description states.

Journey Expansion Pack

This DLC Pack has you completing two new Journeys for two new achievements. Make sure that you are playing the Journey Expansion Pack journey and not the Original journey.

This DLC works the exact same as the Single Player and Co-op Journey from the main game except there is only 8 worlds per Journey. This give a total of 40 levels for the Single Player Expansion Journey and 32 levels for the Co-op Expansion Journey. Complete both Journeys to gain the two achievements. Use the Achievement Trading Thread for help with the Co-op Journey.

This is a fun game, but it is not an easy completion. This game can be very frustrating and if you find yourself stuck, take a break and come back to try again later. If you still can’t figure out how to move forward look at this forum to try and get some help.

Gold Star15
Complete the first stage of the 1P Journey

Just complete the first 5 levels of single player. The achievement will unlock after completing level 1-5.

You can also work on the "Golden Rule" achievement whilst going for this achievement.

Gold, Mine30
Complete the 1P Journey

There are a total of 80 levels, once you beat level 16-5 you will get this achievement.

This game is very very frustrating, but not too hard. For tips see this thread (LINK) and feel free to post any questions.

Mother Lode15
Collect 8 bronze medals in Hang On (main game)

On the main screen go to Single Player and then go down to Hang On.

There are a total of 8 levels of Hang On and your goal on levels 1-4 is to collect 30 gold without dying. Levels 5-8 require the collection of 20 gold without dying.

In Hang On mode, the enemies keep spawning every 10/11 seconds. Just focus on getting the 30 and then die.

Big Ore-Deal20
Complete 30 of the 1P Puzzles

Puzzle mode is also located under Single Player.

There are a total of 50 puzzles but you only have to complete 30 of them for the achievement.

A written guide can be found here (LINK).

Double Up15
Complete the first stage of the Co-op Journey   (2)

There are only 4 levels for each stage on Co-op instead of 5 levels like single player. Just work together with a friend and beat the first 4 levels to unlock this achievement.

If your looking for a partner for co-op then post in the Achievement Trading Thread (LINK).

Double Down30
Complete the Co-op Journey   (1)

The easiest way to unlock this achievement is to have someone who has beaten the last level in co-op host the game. They can host level 12-4 and invite you in. When you beat that level (the last level in co-op), you will get this achievement. The other way of getting it is to play all 12 stages in co-op which will take 15 hours or more.

If your looking for a partner for co-op then post in the Achievement Trading Thread (LINK).

Metal of Honor10
Win 5 Last Man matches (original levels) on Xbox LIVE   (1)

Whilst on the Main Menu screen, click on Multiplayer and then Xbox Live. You can either host a Private Match and have a friend join, or host Public/Ranked and do it with random people. If you have a friend help you, it takes like 20 seconds to get 1 win. Once you get 5 wins, you're done.

If your looking for a boosting partner post in the Achievement Trading Thread (LINK).

Gold Rush10
Collect 5000 pieces of gold

This achievement is just for collecting 5000 gold throughout you're Single Player campaign, Co-op campaign, Puzzles, Last Man, and custom levels.

If you're looking to get this in a hurry, go create your own level and make it have a spawn point, 50 gold, and an exit. You will have to create more than one platform with ladders to be able to put that much gold on, but thats the easiest way.

Treasure Hunter15
Unearth 20 hidden enemies and steal their treasure

On every level of single player, there is a hidden enemy somewhere on the level. 80 levels, 80 hidden enemies. You will need to find 20 of these enemies to unlock the achievement.

After you reveal them, you have to trap them again and collect the diamond above their head. The easiest way to do this is to complete all levels in Stage 4 first. Once done, go back to level 1-1, shoot all blocks until you reveal the hidden enemy. Trap him, get the diamond, and then quit the level. The go to level 1-2 and repeat. This can be done in Free Play.

Blast Off10
Without blasting, collect all gold and complete level 3-1 of the 1P Journey

Make sure that the enemies do NOT collect any gold. If they do, just restart because the only way to get the gold from them is to trap them. Just try and collect all the gold without dying and then make your way to the exit for the achievement.

Thanks to FreezeCrackerFun.
Fool's Gold15
Steal all gold from trapped enemies and complete level 3-1 of the 1P Journey   (2)

For this one, its almost the opposite of the "Blast Off" achievement. The only way to collect gold for this achievement is to get the Yeti's to pick it up for you, then trap them and collect it off their heads. Make sure that you collect it while they are still there and not dead.

Thanks to Tigermave.

Golden Rule15
In a single game and without killing an enemy, complete the first stage of the 1P Journey

This one isn't too hard just make sure you don't kill any enemies in the first 5 levels of the game. The way to kill an enemy is to shoot a block way before the enemy gets there. When the enemy falls down the trap, the block comes back and kills the enemy....Avoid this at all cost.

Try and collect most of the gold without trapping any enemies at all first. Most likely they will pick some up and you will have to trap them to get it, just make sure you set the trap right before they get to you. This also has to be done in Journey (levels 1-1 through 1-5) without getting a Game Over.
