Show / Hide Guide Road Map

Overview:
+ Estimated achievement difficulty: 6/10
+ Offline: 41 (850)
+ Online: 9 (150)
+ Approximate time: 40 hours
+ Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 5+ (Player Seasons, 10 Ranked Live Matches, 1/2 MLB Today Games, 1 League Game & utilizing Franchise Mode or Quickplay)
+ Missable achievements: 1 (Mid-Summer Classic, can only be obtained on the day of the actual All-Stars Game)
+ Does difficulty affect Achievements? Yes (Play on Pro to avoid missing achievements)
+ Unobtainable achievements: 0
+ Extra equipment needed?: None

You can do a lot of these achievements in League games, however unlike previous incarnations two controllers in Quick Play won't work.

Introduction:
MLB 2K10 provides a somewhat lengthy road to complete every achievement. My Player requires you to put in many hours and other tasks require some luck or situations that can't always be replicated. Boosting achievements in League games will help ease some of the pain, but the game can be done realistically without one. The achievement guide explains in detail how to get the achievements, use this map as a guideline in what order to get them.

Step #1: Franchise
Franchise is a great place to start. In order to get the season oriented achievements, you are required to play 20 games. Make sure to win your first game. During the remaining 19 games, you should hammer out a lot of those situational achievements (Example: get a two-out RBI, get a leadoff home run). After 20 games, you can sim to the end of the season. Make an extra save file first, them sim to the playoffs. Hopefully you are in them. If not, reload your save, and repeat. Now sim to the end of the postseason, reloading your save if necessary. Once you have won the World Series you can move on. You will have other opportunities to gain the situational achievements (League Games, Step #4)

Step #2: My Player
My Player is the main attraction, however it doesn't give you much gamerscore for how long you will be playing it. Use the achievement guide to aid you in making it to the big leagues, raising your player rating, making the All-Star team, and eventually making it to the Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, all of the situational achievements are not obtainable in this mode. Only ones specifically for My Player can be achieved here. To reach the Hall of Fame, you will need to accomplish several HOF goals, and play at least 5 seasons. You can simulate games, but the game requires you to play key games.

Step #3: Ranked Matches
You will have to play as 10 different teams, so during these ten games win three times in a row, beat the Yankees, play as the Nationals once, a hopefully catch the viral achievement. If you are crafty and play during low traffic times, you could possibly boost ranked achievements. Something to help you in online matches, there is a slight lag when you hit swing and when you actually swing. This will some getting used to.

Step #4: Online League games (and whatever you missed in Step #1)
While the ability to get achievements with two controllers isn't possible in MLB 2K10, the way around it is getting them in a League game. As opposed to ranked matches, you can set up your own league and start times, and control who is in your league. A lot of user created leagues never kick off, so for this one it would best to form a league with friends or other x360a users. Use the Achievement Trading Thread in the MLB 2K10 sub-forum to find others. If you missed anything in Step #1, you can boost them or earn them in League games. Make sure you win once too!

Step #5: Exploring the remaining game modes
Earn gold in all the training drills, win the Best of the Best HR Derby challenge, and finally play a game of MLB Today. Kill two birds with one stone by making that game of MLB Today the All-Star game, which requires you to play the actual day of the All-Star game in real life.

Step #6: Player Cards and Milestones
You earn a players card by completing specific tasks with or against players. Look in your card collection to see how to unlock certain players. Playing on different teams help. Play Quick Games, Franchise, or League games to get your 200 strikeouts and 250 RBI.

Conclusion:
Three things make this game a relatively hard 1000: Ranked Matches, specifically winning three in a row, the High Crimes achievement, and the length of My Player mode. Get past those three things and you should be golden. As with a lot of games, boosting eases this difficulty.

[x360a would like to thank litepink for this Road map]

Down But Not Out5
Get a hit with 2 strikes on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (3)

Throughout Franchise, you will get dozens of these hits naturally. If you really need to try for it, work your count to two strikes and swing for contact.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Grab Some Pine5
Get a strikeout to end the inning on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

See "Stooges"

Run the Risk10
Steal a base after the 6th inning tied or down by 1 run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Edit the player you want to commit the steal with max running stats. Now play against a pitcher with an awkward slow delivery, and you can steal without a throw.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

A Pitcher's Best Friend10
Turn a double play on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (1)

Double plays are another common occurrence in this game. The most traditional way is with a runner on first, and the batter bounces a grounder and you throw out the guy going to second and first. A strikeout/throwout counts, as well as flyout/throwout.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

To the Rescue10
Bring in a pitcher, get a save with the tying run on base on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (1)

In the ninth inning of a game with two outs or less and in the lead, intentionally walk enough batters to get the tying run on first base. Have your closer warmed, and bring him in and win the game without allowing the game to be tied.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

A Virtue20
Face 10 pitches as the batter on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (4)

The tricky part is not getting a walk, or putting the ball in play on accident before you face 10 pitches. Work your count to two strikes, and use the defensive swing feature with a mediocre player. They will continually foul pitches off. Doing the math, you will have to foul off at least 5 pitches, depending on the count. Swing just a tad late to influence the ball foul.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Don't Call it a Comeback20
Win after being down by 4 after the 6th inning on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Play as the NL or AL All Stars, or NL or AL Greats, against a poor team, like the Nationals. You can even edit the stats of all your players to max and all theirs to a minimum. Work the score to 0-4, then in the 7th inning, let loose. You can win in extra innings, so long as you win.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Keep on Truckin'10
Truck the Catcher and score on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Edit your player to 7 feet tall, 300 pounds, and the catcher on the opposing team to 5 feet, 130 pounds. Work your player around the bases and send him home on a play where he would normally be out easily. The catcher will wait for you, and you will subsequently plow him over. DO NOT slide. If you try to slide anytime during the play your player will slide instead of trucking the catcher.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

This is Why I'm Here15
Be successful in a major league clutch moment in My Player Mode. (2)

In My Player Mode, you will be presented with many clutch moments. Usually it is getting a base hit in a tie game, but sometimes it involves stealing a base, doing a squeeze bunt play, etc. Your very first appearance in My Player is a clutch moment, but won't work for the achievement since it is in the minor leagues. You can simulate games in My Player, but the game will make you play clutch moments so make the best of them. Reload your save if you fail, which means you should save often.

Trifectas Maximus10
Throw a MAX pitch 3 consecutive times with Total Control on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (2)

Use a good pitcher, like C.C. Sabathia or Tim Lincecum and throw fastballs or change-ups, the easiest pitches to perform with Total Control pitching.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

One Man Show80
Throw a Perfect Game or a No-Hitter on Pro or higher in a 9 inning game, in a non-simulated game. (14)

Edit all batters of the opposing team to have the lowest speed and acceleration, but with max aggressiveness. Now, intentionally walk batters and pick them off for all 27 outs. Picking batters off from second base seems easier, so you may have to walk two batters on base.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Time to Run for Mayor30
Hit 3 Home Runs in a single game with the same player on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Put your best home run threat as the first batter. The All Star Teams are loaded with them so take your pick out of them. You could always edit the opposing pitchers to have bad or easy pitches, but despite not being mentioned in the achievement description, this needs to be done on Pro difficulty. Let the game go extra innings if you have a guy with 2 home runs and you need just one more.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

I came, I saw...20
Hit a Walk-off Home Run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

This can be done in a 3 inning game, or in extra innings of a 3 inning game. Use a power swing and swing for the fences to end the game. Walk-offs can only be done in home games, because in away games, the other team gets to bat last.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Stooges10
Strikeout all three hitters in the inning on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Edit the first three batters of an opposing team with minimum batting abilities. Start a new game and try to strike out these three bad hitters. If you fail, you can restart if you are simply playing a "Quick Game".

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

High Crimes20
Rob a Home Run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (9)

One of the most difficult achievements in the game, as the opportunity to rob a home run is rare, and often when you rob one, the achievement doesn't pop. Here is a short guide to increase your odds of seeing a home run in which you can rob:

  • Mode: Quick Game
  • Home Team: AL All-Stars, User controlled
  • Away Team: NL All-Stars, CPU controlled
  • Ballpark: AAA East
  • Difficulty: Legend

You will want to edit three outfielders on your team. Ichiro (Seattle Mariners), Curtis Granderson (NY Yankees), and Torii Hunter (LA Angels). Max out there speed and fielding abilities. Now when you start your game, hit  during the loading screen to edit your lineup. You will have to add Granderson into left field, and Hunter in Center. Ichiro will already be starting in right field. Replace the starting pitcher with Mark Buerhle.

Every at bat, you will need to check/adjust your outfield depth. Hit to check your depth and cycle through them until they are playing deep. You will need to serve up pitches for the NL All-Stars to blast. Using classic pitching, tap to throw a weak change-up. A lot of the times, they will blast it with no chance of robbing the home run. Should it be close though, a prompt will be by your player that says "Wall Climb." Hold to perform a wall climb. A meter will show up, similar to throwing to a base. Land the marker in the green area to optimize you climb. Getting a "running start" to the wall seems to get the right animation, as compared to standing underneath the wall. Often times you will rob the home run but not get the achievement, as the game is likely rewarded it for only a certain home run robbing animation.

If you get three batters out, simply start a rematch from the pause menu.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Thou Shalt Not10
Throw out a runner stealing a base on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

If you have an opposing base-runner edited for max aggressiveness but minimal speed and acceleration, you should be able to throw him out easily with any catcher.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

State Farm™- The Road to Victory20
Get 3 consecutive batters on base on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Play against an edited pitcher with no control to get three walks in a row, otherwise, work together any combination of three hits or walks against any other pitcher.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

Still Kicking10
Strike out a batter with a pitcher who has low composure on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (1)

Intentionally walk three batters with Tim Lincecum of the Giants. Tim works great because the three walks will put his composure down to Tense but he is a great pitcher so you will likely strike out the next batter (some pitchers still are not Tense after three walks). Now go for the strikeout.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

It's Never Too Late10
Get a 2-out RBI Hit on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Whether by Homerun or Hit, obtain an run batted in with two outs. Use edited teams if needed.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

The Call20
Get called up to the Majors in My Player Mode. (1)

There are several goals you need to meet while in the Minor Leagues to increase your chances of getting to the Majors, like playing 15 games, improving your stats by obtaining skill points, achieving certain statistical accolades. Meet most or all of these goals, and you will get called to the Majors.

The Goal10
Accomplish a Team Season Goal in My Player Mode. (1)

As you progress your player and get better, subsequently, your team will likely get better, and able to accomplish Team Season Goals. To get "The Hall" achievement you need to play 5-10 seasons, so most likely your team will come through with a goal at least once.

The Top30
Become the #1 ranked player in your My Player organization. (1)

Here is where picking a good team could hurt you, because they likely have good players. As you progress you earn skill points to improve your Overall Rating. Have the highest on your team for this achievement. Teammates can actually get better or worse over the years, effecting your rank. If you are very high and still not #1, you could request a trade to a team without superstars. After you have reached the top of your team, you will need to simulate or play a single game afterwords for the achievement to unlock.

The Star40
Make the All-Star team in My Player Mode. (2)

You have 15 seasons to do this, so this should come eventually. The achievement is awarded once you select to play the All-Star game in which your player was chosen.

The Start10
Get your player's overall rating to 65 in My Player Mode.

See "The Truth".

The Truth20
Get your player's overall rating to 85 in My Player Mode.

Your rating goes up as you progress through My Player by completing tasks such as hits, walks, putouts, etc. Make sure to complete drills for a big boost in skill points. Even if you are strictly simming your games, you will be forced to play Key Games, where you can earn a fair amount of skill points.

The Hall80
Make the Hall of Fame in My Player Mode. (1)

You must play at least 5 seasons in the Majors before you can retire and go to the Hall of Fame. While you are working your rating up, you must accomplish 12 goals in 3 different categories. Two Team Goals, Five Career Milestones, and Five Season Goals. Here are the goals for position players:

Team Goals: (complete 2 or more)

  • Make the Playoffs
  • Win the Divisional Series
  • Make the World Series
  • Win the World Series
  • Have the Best Record in the League

Season Goals: (5 or more)

  • Win the Rookie of the Year
  • Finish in the Top 10 in Batting, HR, and RBI
  • Hit 25 Home Runs

  • Win the Silver Slugger Award
  • Win the Batting Title
  • Win the Triple Crown (AVG, HR, RBI)

  • Win 2 MVP's
  • Have 6 Seasons with an AVG. over .290
  • Have 6 Seasons with an OPS of .800 (On Base+Slugging)
  • Break a MLB Career Record

Once you increase your rating more, you may be able to simulate a few seasons to get some of the more time consuming Career Milestones. Once you have 12 goals completed, and at least five full seasons played, you may retire under "Career Decisions" and enter the Hall of Fame

One and O10
Play and win opening day in Franchise Mode. (3)

You can play a 3 inning game so if you lose, just start a new franchise at any time and try again.

What's Your Ring Size?80
Win a World Series® in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

There is a way around playing 20 games. You can start the game normally, then from the pause select Super-Sim, and you can sim to the end of the game, and it will count as a game played. After you have played 20 games, you can choose to simulate to the end of the season. You would be doing yourself a favor by picking a good team, otherwise you may actually have to play the games to influence the result. Make multiple saves if you do not win the World Series so you can reload your save and sim again. Otherwise, play the World Series games yourself to ensure the win. As long as you are playing on Pro, feel free to play 3 inning games and have all playoff series games set to 1. You can also force trades to make your team better. Must be on Pro Difficulty.

Remember Me20
Break a record in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

Clear all the records at the beginning of the season. You can do so by going to the Records screen and hitting . At the end of the season all the new records will be yours. You must play 20 games however.

Booked a Ticket20
Clinch a Postseason Berth in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

See "What's Your Ring Size?" (must play 20 games, on Pro Difficulty)

A Day in the Life10
Play a game of MLB Today.

Play any MLB Today Game found in the Main menu, Win or Lose, any settings.

Mid-Summer Classic40
Play the All-Star game in MLB Today. (8)

Mark your calendars for July 13th, 2010 and select the All-Star game in MLB Today. You may set your innings beforehand to 3 innnings. You cannot simulate to the end and you must play on Pro difficulty or higher.

2K reserves the right to discontinue the MLB Today feature at any time, so July 2010 might be the only time to get this.

King of the Hill20
Get to the top of the Best of the Best ladder in Home Run Derby® Mode. (3)

There are 20 batters that you must beat to reach the top. The first 10-15, should be pretty easy to beat. Make sure you edit your hitter with max hitting and power. When you get stuck, you can edit your opposing player with minimum batting skills. What also helps is to edit their height to a minimum, weight to a maximum, and their date of birth to their oldest. So basically an old, short, fat guy who can't hit. Still though, the CPU will be hard to beat in the last few rounds despite editing. If you lose, you can choose to rematch or quit. Sometimes when you quit to the Main Menu, then go back into the HR Derby (you start where you left off), the other batter is easier to beat, so try this as well when hitting a roadblock.

My Fellow Man10
Complete and win an online league game. (4)

Many achievements are obtainable through League play. Set up a league with friends to boost some of the harder achievements. For this achievement, simply win one league game.

The Team to Beat10
Beat the New York Yankees in a completed online match. (2)

The Yankees are the best team, and as you are going for "The Spice of Life" you will likely come across them often. Choose a comparable team like the Red Sox. Must be a Ranked match.

Count it10
Complete and win a ranked match. (1)

You would get this with "The Team to Beat", but you could turn the tables yourself, and play as the Yankees, likely your best chance at winning.

The Road to Greatness20
Complete and win 3 ranked matches in a row. (1)

This could potentially be problematic, as people power off and quit. Powering off counts towards your total wins/losses, but you don't get credited for it until later, and doesn't count towards your streak. Forfeits do count towards your streak, so hopefully people take the noble way out of a loss. This can also be boosted late at night, when less people are playing.

The spice of life20
Complete 10 online matches using 10 different teams.

Pick the Nationals as one of your ten, then nine other teams in ten total ranked matches.

Domination20
Strikeout 200 batters with your user profile.

See "Production".

Production20
Drive in 250 RBI with your user profile.

You will earn RBI and strikeouts throughout your playing time. If you are done doing all your other achievements and want to concentrate strictly on RBI or strikeouts, play with players edited with max stats, against those who have been edited to be weak. To be safe, play on Pro Difficulty.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non simulated game.

A Whole New You5
Choose a signature batting stance or pitching delivery in My Player or Create Player.

Pick another MLB player's stance when creating a player for My Player. Custom stances will not give you this.

Learning the Ropes10
Achieve gold in all the drills. (3)

Drills are located under Game modes. Here is a quick guide the nine drills

Lead Off and Jump
Use Brett Gardner of the Yankees. Mariano Rivera will pitch, and he is easy to steal off.

Advancing and Sliding
Use Gardner again. Always get a head start by stealing first (except for the Sacrifice Fly portion of the drill)

Contact and Power
Use Joe Mauer of the Twins, as he has great Contact numbers.

Plate Battle
Use Mauer again. Every pitch, use a defensive swing, unless you are sure it will be a ball. Points are awarded for hits, fouls, or pitches taken out of the Strike Zone

Infield
Use Evan Longoria of the Rays. Very easy.

Catcher
Use Mauer Again. Also easy

Outfield
Edit any player to max fielding stats. You need to set your throw before you actually catch or get the ball to get the best and fastest throw.

Control and Velocity
Use an edited Pat Neshek of the Twins. Why Neshek? His target area is twice the size, having two yellow squares to throw to. Edit his pitches to Fastball and Change-up only, and reduce movement and increase control. Set his third pitch to None. I felt that pitches that were not maxed out, but rather 3/4 or maybe 5/6 being more accurate. Hit your six targets for gold.

Composure and Stamina
Any good pitcher will do. For this drill, it is pitch location and selection that is key. Don't give the hitter anything good to hit, but don't walk them either.

Hurlers10
Unlock 20 pitcher cards.

See "Swingers".

Swingers10
Unlock 25 hitter cards.

You can obtain trading cards by accomplishing certain feats with or against certain players. Check you trading card collection and play as many different teams to obtain many cards.

Secret Achievements

Round and Round We Go30
Bat around (all 9 players bat in the same inning) on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Play against a team with an edited pitcher and catcher. Adjust their stats to your liking. An edited pitcher will allow for easy hits or walks, and an edited catcher will allow for easy steals. Feel free to edit your team as well.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game.

EpidemiK20
Complete an online game against a 2K developer or a player who already has this achievement. (2)

Obviously as time passes this achievement gets more and more viral. Win or lose against someone with this achievement, or find a partner in the Achievement Trading Thread. Must be done in a ranked game.

Upset Alert10
Use the Nationals in a completed ranked match.

Win or lose. Preferably lose, so the other person doesn't quit on you.

Big Bang30
Leadoff the game with a Home Run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game. (1)

Edit the stats of any batter to max power. Now play an away game so you bat first. Edit your lineup so your juiced player bats first. If you are playing a Quick Game, you can start over if you fail.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game on Pro difficulty.

Back From the Brink20
Get out of a bases loaded jam (0 outs, no runs scored) on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Intentionally walk the bases loaded in a Quick Game. Now send out your manager to get your pitcher's composure back. You might be able to pick off the guys on base if you edited them or something, otherwise just try to get out of the inning regularly. Do not concede a run for any reason! Throw home to get an out if needed. If you are the home team, you can start over and try again.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game on Pro difficulty.

Hawkeye10
Draw a walk on a full count on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

If you have 2 strikes, don't swing until you have 3 balls. If you have 3 balls, purposely swing and miss. Either way, get the count to 3 balls and 2 strikes. With a full count now, try to foul of pitches in the zone, and wait for a bad pitch to take. I know it can be hard, but you can't swing at everything.

Note: Unlockable in Franchise, Quick Game, Ranked, and League games in a non-simulated game on Pro difficulty.
