NIER Achievements

Forging Master

You upgraded 30 weapons to their maximum level.
Weapons can be upgraded in the Junk Heap, which is in the north-east of the Northern Plains. There are 30 weapons in the game, so this requires ALL weapons to be upgraded. Upgrading weapons is very time consuming and expensive as each upgrade requires specific parts. The best advice I can give is to never sell any materials because you WILL need them, and grind gathering money. You can buy many materials at the different towns in the world, but many will only come from 'gathering' or enemy drops.

A Weapons Upgrading/Materials Guide can be found here.
A Materials Finding Guide can be found here.

Some materials can be gathered more efficiently by performing the 'load trick'. This trick exploits the fact that loading the game is faster than zoning in and out of an area, and it also resets all harvest points. Below is an example for getting Eagle Eggs:
  • Save game in the Aerie
  • Walk down the lower bridge until you get to the middle section, turn around and look directly at the eagle egg spawn point. double jump to verify if its there or not.
  • If the harvest point doesn't exist, load your game and try again.
  • If the harvest point exists (is flashing), walk over to the gathering point, harvest and cross your fingers.
  • If its not the eagle egg, load your game and try again.
  • If it is the eagle egg, go save your game and load again until you find as many as you need.

there is a slightly quicker way to harvest Eagle Eggs, it's working for me atleast

1) on the main menu, set difficulty to hard
2) load your game and go save at the entrance to Aerie
3) go around to where the eagle egg spawn point is, if there is a glowing item there, pick it up
4) if it is a Eagle Egg, go save your game again, and get back into position
- or the more likely even it isn't an Eagle Egg, jump off the side until you die
hit continue, and you'll spawn very close to the item spot. if there is nothing there
kill yourself again
((being on hard gives you a sliver of life so you can die quicker))
and rinse and repeat until you ahve the 4 Eagle Eggs you'll need, took me about 2 hours for all 4,

I agree, the method in comment #1 is a more efficient way since you don't have to do as many manual button presses to load your game. You jump off, die, the game gives you the game over screen, and it's one button to load again.

When you re-spawn, you're right near the material spawn point, so you cut all the time of walking down the bridge and double-jumping to check if the material spawn point is there.

Nice work, DarthChimp182.

A faster way of re-loading the game than repeatedly dying is the "Load Game" option, in the options menu (Start, Left, Down, Down, A, A)

The method in Comment 1 is much quicker than the one listed on the achievement guide page. I was able to get three Eagle Eggs in about an hour, as well as two Broken Potteries, two Meteorites, and a Gold Ore. Great job with this idea!

Theres a faster way then what darthchimp said. If theres a item flashing in the spot where the eagle egg is supposed to be pick it up and go up the ladder to the bridge and go past the rod and kill yourself till you get game over and continue. you start at the spot you died and keep your items. instead of running to the save spot. if nothings there get the continue again. if there are sparkles go pick it up if not the egg jump. The game has auto saves at certain areas that i found the other day.

The DLC will make obtaining some of the materials easier but the DLC weapons do not count towards this achievement. They do seem to count for at least the upgrade 5 weapons achievement though. The word Mahzarken (+30% drop) can help with getting the materials though. I received that word when I was at the top of the lost shrine when I was collecting Forlorn necklaces. Apparently changing to hard difficulty is supposed to increase drop rate but from my experience I was always able to collect things faster on easy.
