When you begin a level it will always lay out an objective for you, but before you do these I recommend searching the level for as many collectibles as you can find. You want to get as many of these out of the way as possible before doing story mode missions. This should be your strategy on every level, because doing certain story mode quests will make it unable to go back to certain areas unless you quit out and do level select.
Collectibles in this game are almost always out in the the open or easily seen behind a few crates. Almost none of them require the in-depth searching usually seen in such games.
One playthrough of this game should net you the full thousand as long as you find every collectible on each level. Your achievements at the end of each level should look like this:
- New York Museum of Natural History - Magnetic Personality, Flashback, Mint Condition, Hey! Dum-dum!
- Smithsonian - Gone Postal, Castle Me
- Federal Archives - Fourth Of July, Coin A Phrase, A New Threat
- National Air And Space Museum: Air Section - In Orbit, Inflation, With A Monkey Chaser, Toolbox Hero, Monkeyshines
- National Air And Space Museum: Storage Section - Lady Lindy, Roto Router, Wrench Wrangler
- Washington Art Museum - Art Appreciation, Mudface, Picasso, For Art's Sake, Fine Art
- National Museum of Natural History - Anubee, Fossil Fuel, The Light Touch, Rexy's Favourite, No Quarter, Crown Jewels, Natural Wonder, Who's Got It All?
- National Air And Space Museum - The Eagle Has Landed, Final Frontier
- Lincoln Memorial - Penny Pinch, Pressin' Yer Luck, City Pass, Morning Comes, Been There Done That
Notes: *If you do happen to die during any mission, you will not lose any collectibles you obtained before hitting a checkpoint
*Almost all levels have Audio Tour buttons and Gallery Points (represented by a floating padlock icon, they are revealed when you use the Eye Of Horus). Ignore all these as they have nothing to do with getting achievements
*The National Air & Space Storage Museum: Storage Section has a subquest where you have to talk to 5 famous people. This also has nothing to do with getting achievements
*The Museum of Natural History level has a subquest where you have to clean 5 spots of graffiti. This also has nothing to do with getting achievements
