Quarrel is an iOS game ported to XBLA. It is a mix between Advance Wars and Scrabble. Making the most of the units you have to make the best possible word score. An excellent anagram puzzler, great for the Scrabble fans. With many different modes to go through there is plenty of bang for your buck. At a mere $5 it's hard to pass this one up.

The game is broken up into 3 different modes: Domination, Showdown and various Challenges. Within the Challenges are 4 specific goals: Trailblazing, Fightback, Colossal Conflict and Prisoner Capture. Completing each mode is required for a complete 200/200. At a minimum of 34 matches played.

Quarrel is not a difficult game if using an Anagram solver. However if you like your word puzzle games, it does not lack depth. It is an excellent game through and through. Challenge yourself with the higher rated AI opponents or easily squeak through using a solver.

Anagram Solvers:
Listed in order of score for Scrabble (Use with discretion, some letters in Quarrel (G, B, U) carry a higher value. Choose SOWPODS dictionary) -

A Rag Man5
Make your first ever Quarrel anagram.

Plenty of opportunities to achieve this. Using an Anagram solver would be the easiest. During the "Comeback Kid" challenge is a perfect place as you start with 8 quarrels.

Make a staggering 100 Quarrel anagrams. (7)

You can check the leaderboards to check the number of anagrams you have solved. This is counted for any time you solve it be it your quarrel or a bonus. If after you progress through the various modes of the game and still do not have 100, a good spot to farm would be the "Comeback Kid" challenge as you start with 8 Quarrels you can solve every subesquent 8 letter anagram by adding an extra. Each time you complete it will be 11 solved Anagrams.

Jailhouse Rock10
Capture a phenomenal 100 prisoners. (1)

You capture prisoners by either successfully attacking or defending against a stronger opponent, notated by the numbered size. This should come in time, however if you need to farm, the Challenge "Captive Audience!" is the best netting you 19 each time.

Four's a Crowd10
Capture a prisoner from each player in a four-player match. (1)

Easily done within Challenge Mode, "Blaze Away!".

The challenge itself it to complete the map in one turn. Take the opportunity to match yourself up against a tougher opponent. The AI on this challenge hardly puts up a fight and you can easily capture Quarrels from each and every player. Follow the path below for best results.

Make a word worth at least 20 points.

Utilize anagrams that have "J", "Q" or "X". Even some 8 letter anagrams  will not have enough points. This will come with time and there will be  plenty of opportunities to achieve this. A good spot to achieve this  would be the "Comeback Kid" challenge as you start with 8 Quarrels and  have many chances to solve every subesquent 8 letter anagram.

Finish a match with a perfect Word IQ of 200. (1)

You must use the highest possible word score in each and every quarrel. I suggest the "Battle of the Giants" challenge as every tile starts with 8 Quarrels and if using an Anagram solver to solve all 8 letter anagrams you will unlock this at the end of the challenge.

Showdown Showoff20
Defeat all-comers in Showdown.

10 Opponents to conquer. Much like domination except for 1v1. Progresses through difficulty and word length. Good prep for the game. I suggest starting with this mode.

Call That a Challenge?20
Complete all Challenges to Gold standard.

Each challenge has it's own set of Bronze, Silver and Gold standards. Usually this means to complete the entire match without losing. While some of this is left up to chance, using an anagram solver to match up the highest possible word score will deffinitely help.

Trailblazing - Complete the entire map in one turn. Make a route that leaves open the possibility to back track. Take opportunities to capture prisoners where possible and always use an extra on each turn.

Fightback - I found this to be identical to Trailblazing and the goal of capturing the entire map in one turn. Same goes here to route a path that leaves open the possibility to back track. Take opportunities to capture prisioners where possible and always use an extra on each turn. Tip for the 3rd Challenge, go right instead of left. If you can't win 5v7 you wouldn't be able to finish it going left to start. Save yourself the time of retrying.

Colossal Conflict - Every match up must be 8v8. While the first 2 may not solve the anagram, there is always the possibility. Win each matchup by either solving the anagram or outscoring your opponent.

Prisoner Capture - As the title explains, simply match yourself up against a larger opponent and take the maximum number of prisioners. Very challenging, but go about it the same as other challenges and map out a path to make the most of the map. Do NOT use extras, as the Gold requirements are the maxiumum possible on the map. The challenge is skewed in your favor as the AI will not choose the highest possible word, but don't be fooled they will play high value tiles.

1. Procure Prisioners

2. Captive Audience! - Take the right path first.

3. Convict Capture! - Take the Left path first. A bit of luck and possibly a tie or two. The actual maximum is actually 16. Feel free to use an extra at the end.

World Leader20
Dominate the Known Quarrel World and wear the Quarrel Crown.

Complete all 12 Domination maps. Let the computer beat up on each other and be swift to knock out the lower opponents. At the higher stages watch out for extras and take care to engage the AI as they will use some of the highest possible word scores.

Down in One!10
Claim Calamari Cove from Dwayne, Caprice and Malik in a single turn.

This is the 3rd Domination map. Much like the Trailblazing challenges, you must take down the 3 other players in a single turn. Utilize anagram possibilities as the other players fight each other to give yourself Extras and allow you to sustain the captures during your turn. After defeating your opponents the achievement will unlock at the end of the match.

Capture Starfish Bay in Domination without losing a single quarrel.

This is the 2nd Domination map. Simply never lose a Quarrel and you will net this achievement at the end of the match.

Elite Beat!25
Defeat Rex, Helena and Kali in a single timed match. (1)

From the main menu select "Make Match" and then "Clocked Quarrel". Select 4-Player and then your 3 opponents to Rex, Helena, and Kali. Any map will do, though I suggest Calamari Cove. If you've been using an anagram solver this should not be any different than any other part of the game. Be prepared for a challenge and solve every anagram where possible. Use extras always, and build up your defenses rather than attacking.
