Red Alert 3: Commander's Challenge is a real-time strategy game composed of 50 short scenarios in the same part of the Command & Conquer universe/timeline as the retail game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. If you have played the retail game, you should be familiar with the music, interface, units, etc. Note that while x360a lists the game title as "Red Alert 3: Commander's Challenge" it is listed on the Xbox marketplace simply as "Commander's Challenge." The achievements are related to beating all challenges, beating all challenges under par time, and a few scenario specific achievements (such as Recycler, where you have to kill 20 Steel Ronin enemy units.)

Note that dojo rushing is a viable means of beating most of the scenarios under par time. If you are comfortable with this approach, the game should not present any particular difficulties.

Step One: Tutorial

There is one achievement (Star Pupil) tied to completing the tutorial, and it is reasonably quick to complete. There are five missions in the tutorial, and you will likely spend more time listening to the instructors than actually doing anything.

Step Two: Main Path Challenges

There are 13 main path challenges. There is a known glitch associated with completing them under par. To avoid the glitch and properly receive your achievements, complete one of them OVER par, and then complete the rest under par. This will unlock Dead Meat, Battle Tested, and Victor. Once Victor unlocks, then go back and complete any over par main path challenges to unlock Superior Commander. Note that if you forget to do this you may be forever unable to unlock Superior Commander, even if you uninstall the game and delete your save and start over from scratch.

When playing the Symphony of Steel challenge, be sure to unlock Recycler. Note that you will likely not be able to get Recycler and also stay under par time, so this is a good mission to leave over par to avoid the Superior Commander glitch.

If you follow the achievement guide, you should also play 2 of the side challenges along the way to unlock specific units that make some of the main path challenges easier.

Step Three: Side Challenges

There are 37 side challenges, and the same glitch as the main path challenges applies. To avoid the glitch, complete one of the challenges over par, then complete all the rest under par. This will unlock Future Leader. Go back and beat par time on the one mission you left over par to unlock King of the World. Note that if you forget to do this you may be forever unable to unlock King of the World, even if you uninstall the game and delete your save and start over from scratch.

As you play the side challenges, get the three remaining secret achievements on their relevant maps. As with Recycler, this will likely involve going over par time for each of those maps, so they are good choices to avoid the King of the World glitch.

Conclusion:
Commander's Challenge is a fun but challenging addition to the C&C universe. There are YouTube videos for all of the challenges, so if you get stuck there is definitely assistance available.

[x360a would like to thank Creech for this Roadmap]

Star Pupil5
Complete all lessons in the tutorial (1)

You must do all five lessons in the tutorial from start to finish. They can be done in any order, but top to bottom works best if you’re actually learning the game. Just follow what the tank trainers tell you to do. There are a couple lessons where they tell you you’re on your own. For the base building lesson, as soon as they tell you to experiment and select them when you’re done, you can just select them and not actually build any more. For destroying the base, it’s just a matter of destroying all of the enemy structures any way you can.

First Blood5
Complete the first challenge mission, "Dead Meat".

This is the first mission you can do and the only one available at the start. This is also a good challenge to chose to experiment with the game as the enemy doesn't do much.

Here you are limited to very few units. The enemy builds only infantry, so there's not much to worry about. I did it as the Allies. Build a Power Plant, a Boot Camp, an Ore Refinery (or two), and an Armor Facility. Train some Riptide ACVs (I used three), and enough Javelin Soldiers to fill them. The ACVs will take care of all the enemy infantry easily enough. Just head straight east to the enemy base and deploy your Javelin Soldiers to destroy the structures while the ACVs finish off any infantry. Watch the Prospectors (ore gatherers) as they'll stop getting ore to take out some of you're infantry.

Victor20
Complete all 13 main path challenge missions

Each time you complete a challenge you'll unlock another challenge. The only way to unlock main path challenges is to complete a main path challenge. You just have to complete all thirteen main path challenges. You do not have to worry about completion time.

Note: It is reported (link) that if you do the first twelve challenges under par then complete the last challenge under par without first completing it over par, you will not get “Victor”. It’s suggested you intentionally leave at least one challenge over par first for "Victor." Thank you IIII Aaron IIII.

Superior Commander50
Complete all 13 main path challenge missions under par time

Here is where speed and completion time matters. Each challenge has a set par time (viewable in it's summery) so be quick. You'll know you have a challenge done under par as its marker will have a gold star.

Note: It is reported (link) that if you do the first twelve challenges under par then complete the last challenge under par without first completing it over par, you will not get “Victor.” It’s suggested you intentionally leave at least one challenge over par first for "Victor." Thank you IIII Aaron IIII.
Second Note: It is reported (link) that if you use the Red Alert button, your mission completion time will automatically be 99:59. Do not use the Red Alert button when going for par times. Thank you Snake Eyes.

Future Leader20
Complete all 50 challenge missions

You unlock your first optional challenge after the second main path challenge. This achievement includes all main path challenges and all optional challenges. Completion time doesn't matter, just concentrate on winning.

Note: It is reported (link) that if you do the first forty-nine challenges under par then complete the last challenge under par without first completing it over par, you will not get “Future Leader.” It’s suggested you intentionally leave at least one challenge over par first for "Future Leader." Thank you IIII Aaron IIII.

King Of The World50
Complete all 50 challenge missions under par time (3)

Here you need all option and main path challenges done under the par time. Speed is important. It's a good idea to beat the challenges taking your time first, that way you know what the enemy is up to and the locations of key spots. When you go for par, you'll stop most of the enemy's plan before they get started.

Second Note: It is reported (link) that if you use the Red Alert button, your mission completion time will automatically be 99:59. Do not use the Red Alert button when going for par times. Thank you Snake Eyes.

Battle Tested10
Complete any 10 challenge missions

You just have to complete any ten challenge missions (showing the silver or gold stars). They can be both optional and main path challenges, completion time doesn’t matter. You will get this before you complete the main path challenges.

Battle Hardened20
Complete any 25 challenge missions

You just have to complete any twenty-five challenge missions (showing the silver or gold stars). They can be both optional and main path challenges, completion time also doesn’t matter. I recommend going for this before attempting to complete many challenges under par. This way you can unlock more tech for your use.

Secret Achievements

Big Game Hunter5
You killed all of the giant bears in "Number One Threat to America".

This is done in the optional challenge "Number One Threat to America" (south-east United States). You must kill all of the green armored bears. These bears are larger than any the enemy can train and are all around outer edge of the map at the start of the challenge. I recommend destroying most of the enemy base first and just leave at least one structure (Ore Refineries or Reactors work well). Then send some quick units to do a lap around the map, killing any bears you might have missed. There are twenty-five (25) bears in all - five along each side around the outer edge of the map and five swimming around the middle lake. Killing a giant bear promotes your unit to a full star veteran, so they're a great way to boost an attack force while it's en route. Once you have the achievement, you can complete the challenge or quit out.

Note: This has to be done in the one challenge and cannot be done in any of the other challenges.

Recycler5
You killed 20 Steel Ronin

This is best done in the main path challenge "Symphony of Steel" (middle Japan). I suggest building some defense units and structures at the top of the only ramp up to your base and just let them come to you. The AI will just keep sending Steel Ronin and Archer Maidens to your base. Once you have the achievement, you can complete the challenge or quit out.

Note: This has to be done in one challenge and does not accumulate from challenge to challenge.

Killed A Ton5
You cleaned up! You killed 20 Desolator Troopers.

This is done in the optional challenge "Kill-A-Ton" (mid-eastern Australia). I suggest using air units capable of hitting ground units (the Allies' Vindicators, the Soviets' Twinblades, or the Rising Sun's Striker VXs/Chopper VXs). I recommend quickly destroying the enemy's Construction Yard, War Factory, and Air Field. Leave the Barracks. This will leave you with just infantry to deal with and the only real threat to your air units being the few Flak Troopers that get trained. Make sure you stay on guard just in case though, you don't want to get taken out by a stashed Kirov. The enemy will build groups of four or so Desolators and send them down to patrol, just sit back and pick them off. Once you have the achievement, you can complete the challenge or quit out.

Note: This has to be done in one challenge and does not accumulate from challenge to challenge.

Going Commando5
You killed 20 Enemy Commandoes.

This is best done in the optional challenge "The Omega Program" (middle of Indian Ocean). I suggest building up base defenses while building up an attack force. I was The Rising Sun and while building up six Striker/Chopper-VXs, I put at least two base defenses on each of the access points to my area (east and west). By the time I had flown around and destroyed all three Construction Yards and all three Dojos there were 22 Yuriko Clones on the map. I then took my time hunting them down before finishing the challenge. If you sit and wait too long, you will be attacked from both sides with ever increasing amounts of Yuriko Clones. You can get the achievement by letting the enemy send enough Yuriko Clones to your base, but you might be in bad shape by the time you get it and will need to restart for completing the challenge. Another option is to wipe out two bases and only the third's Construction Yard, then just camp out side the remaining Dojo and kill Yuriko Clones as their trained. Once you have the achievement, you can complete the challenge or quit out.

Note: This has to be done in one challenge and does not accumulate from challenge to challenge.
