Resident Evil 4 HD

Resident Evil 4 HD Achievements

A Heart of Steel

Clear the game on the highest difficulty.

This is earned by finishing the game on Professional. Select COSTUME 2 for Ashley to have on her Suit of Armor. This makes Ashley invincible so you never have to worry about her dying during your Pro run.

Some tips to make this easier:

  • If an enemy is about to grab you from the front Quick Turn to get grabbed in the back and avoid damage.
  • A green Open on a door means it will grant you a checkpoint. You can force checkpoints in rooms and kill as many enemies as you want and leave. They do not respawn and you can give yourself breathing room.
  • If the Merchant dies he won't come back.

The achievement unlocks when you are awarded the Special Weapons.

Professional actually wasn't that bad. The only part that I struggled with was the Krauser fight.

Agreed. The fight with Krauser was one the toughest parts of Professional. Sure I used the kneecapping knife slashing technique.

Professional mode is tough, theres no doubt about it. But at least once you beat it, you are rewarded with that kick ass lazer gun. Oh yeah, if you use that one costume that you get for beating separate ways, then professional mode just got easier.

Can't you unlock a magnum with infinite ammo? I heard of people completing this game in 4 hrs with the cheats on. Shouldn't be too difficult.

#5, I'm pretty sure when you start a new game on a different difficulty, it's like starting a brand new save file. You won't have any of your weapons from the previous file.

Thursday, July 14, 2011 @ 03:18:27 PM

You don't need the chicago typewritter to beat professional mode. It's all about playing smart. If you can remember all the quicktime events and bosses pattern you can finish this without breaking a sweat. The only part I remember having a tough time with was the Verdugo boss fight (especially if you didn't kill him in time after freezing him with all the containers). The U-3 and Krauser boss fight can only be difficult if you're running low on ammo. It's very important to be very conserved with ammo. If you find an opening to melee then take every single one of them. Playing smart and being patience is the key.

@6 I think you are right about this. In the wii version to continue a save you had to play on the same difficulty if you start a new one on professional you start from the beginning with no extra stuff or money. So to be honest i think this is going to be way harder to 1k then code Veronica.

Friday, July 15, 2011 @ 12:30:18 AM

is professional the fourth difficulty? it sounds like.
Since i remember the GC aswell as PS2 version only had 3, easy normal
and Hard. What bugged me about normal, is that some of the levels were cut out
on normal. For example, the maze in the castle with the dogs wasnt there on normal.
i think i choose hard from the beginning

Friday, July 15, 2011 @ 04:58:22 AM

There's only normal and pro modes on the PS2 version (which I think this version is based on) if I remember correctly. I don't remember a easy mode. Also I don't know if you can use special costumes on your 1st run on any modes (never tried it).
Pro in RE4 is nothing compared to RE5's where you die in 1 hit. One last thing, you CANNOT use unlocked weapons during your 1st run on any modes. You have to beat that mode first before you can use weapons like the typewriter or the infinite rocket launcher.

People forget that you can't use unlocked weapons and armor like in RE5. While the health ratio of RE5 was more difficult, RE4 takes the cake as you get nothing. It's like plain starting over again and that sucks. This will be a hard ass achievement.

@ #22

Krauser is the 2nd easiest boss in the game...

You can easily knife him to death without even taking damage.

As for professional being hard. I never really had much trouble with it. The best
tip I can think of is to abuse the checkpoint system. If you leave an area it
creates a checkpoint. It also resets enemy positions. Abuse the hell out of that
where ever possible.

Clear game on normal to unlock professional mode and then beat pro mode. This
isn't as easy as it sound's do too you can't jump right into pro mode with your
equipment set-up from your previous clear game. Unless your previous clear game
was on pro mode. This mean's you'll have to do a dry run. Still this is pretty
simple and in no way compare's to the professional difficulty in RE:5.

im pretty sure you can use your unlockable costumes for this
mode as i remember the game asking you what costume you want to
use whenever you start a new file. can't check my file cause i dont
have a ps2 right now.

that being said clear the game - unlock seperate ways
clear seperate ways - unlock third costumes
LEON / GANGSTER - resist 60% of damage
ASHLEY / ARMOUR - invincible / cannot be carried away

I did this yeeeears ago back on the original gamecube version :)
Remember how I barely survived the first village area (basically was standing at a door knifing when I ran out of amm..)

But majority of game was easy after that. As I started to get near the end, enemies started to drop less and less ammo. I practically had nothing left on the last boss battle. If they're werent any of those exploding barrels, I wouldnt have been able to kill saddler :P

This was so easy.
Way easier than re 5, atleast, to me. Because here, you don't have to fight
La Gigante in a stupid humvee.

Also, I still remember, that, you lose ashley,
then when you get her back later on, you can get the broken butterfly.
The Broken butterfly one-shots a frozen salazar's right hand (forgot the name).

And the krauser boss (the one in which you need to get the slates before time
runs out) was annoying. Also, for the inf-rocket launcher: just complete the game,
then load the completed game, this is basically starting over with all your
weapons, a 1mil rocket launcher for sale and a Matilda for sale (handgun).

People need to know what they are talking about:

There are two difficulties Normal and Professional... Normal bust be completed once before Professional can be played

You CANNOT... I repeat CANNOT use unlockables from Normal in Professional mode... You MUST beat it once through on Professional in order to use unlocked weapons and costumes

@50 You get the Chicago typewriter by doing Assignment Ada. Extremely easy all you have to do is collect 5 Plaga samples and fight Krauser a bit.

Problem is, I have yet to figure out how to get it with Leon....

I have the infinite Launcher on my 2nd play through on normal and it doesn't seem like I can get it at all.

There is one thing I can try to get which shouldn't be too hard but you have to play through Separate Ways and start a new game+ and it should be unlocked.

I never played through Separate Ways when I first played RE4 because as far as I can remember it wasn't even on the GC version. All it had was Assignment Ada and Mercenaries. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I'm just hoping I actually can get the Chicago Typewriter in my normal play through because I hate the

There is most definitely three difficulty settings on this version: Easy, Normal and Professional but there was an additional "Hard" mode on the original GC version. I completed this game countless times on that format before they brought out the PS2 version with that ridiculous super laser pew pew stick or whatever its called. Professional mode is going to be nails again just like on the GC and despite my aforementioned many playthroughs I had no idea about shooting the water before fighting Del Lago so i've missed on on that bad boy...

Well the 360 version, there is only 2 difficulties normal and pro... I know this because I beat it on both. Also the achievements should be easy if you have beaten the game a million times and know where everything is. Here is my easiest way to beat both difficulties. One don't upgrade any guns except the tmp. 2 get the free broken butterfly, don't forget it. 3 the weaponset you want to have for the end of the game is one the striker, 2 the blacktail, 3 the tmp, 4 the semi rifle( is you want it isn't necessary except on the regeneraters), 5 the broken butterfly, although the killer 7 is better at first, when you max out the butterfly it gets way better, and I guess if you want the mine thrower. Ok make sure on your professional walkthrough that when there is only one los plagas. Make sure

Saturday, October 01, 2011 @ 05:33:53 AM

to shoot it in da face and kick it then knife its body on the ground. Once you get to Krouser make sure to have the butterfly maxed out... or be a fag and knife him to death your choice. Buy a rocket launcher for each big boss like the el gigante both of them... but not the time you have to fight 2 just use the hole... or you will be wasting money. Salazar it is worth it to buy a rocket. SO DO IT. And yeah the final boss you can buy an extra launcher, if you do when you hit his eye with it it automatically ges to ada throwing the rocket launcher to you so. I can't explain this because of how simple it really is. Bro tip, when the bug things are flying... shooting them once with any gun will kill them.

Saturday, October 01, 2011 @ 07:22:12 AM

actually on the 360 there is easy (which cuts out the maze in the castle), normal , and pro settings you have to beat the game on normal to unlock pro but it really isnt that hard just make sure to mix green, red, and yellow herbs together for health boosts and shoot villagers in legs till they go down walk up to them and knife them till they die saves fuck loads of ammo

Btw to make it easy on professional mode just play a few times and upgrade to full the health of Leo and Ashley and you have the briefcase to the max by the time you play on pro

Monday, October 03, 2011 @ 05:03:39 PM

If you buy a rocket launcher before every boss fight on pro then every boss will die in a shot. $30,000 is rea easy to come by. Buy a rocket launcher and make sure to hit tthe boss. If its the village chief then shoot him with the shot gun till he falls and then use your rocket launcher. Pro is very simple if you know what your doing.

Wednesday, October 05, 2011 @ 06:00:53 PM

I think there was a way to load New Game+ on the PS2 version. That would allow you to use your save game from your last round and go into Professional Mode with everything in tact. I'm not 100% sure on that but I don't see a way to do it on the 360 version. That just means another start from scratch! Oh and, by the way, I'll be doing it with Ashley in a suit of armor. I'm not trying to get myself any more frustrated than I need to be!

Just to make this clear.

You CAN'T unlock Professional mode by playing the game on Easy!!!! You have to beat it on Normal! When you play on professional mode it's a fresh start. Nothing from you're previous play through will carry over to the professional mode. Professional mode can carry items and $$$ over from a previous play through in professional mode.

Advice, shoot enemies in the legs to make them fall over. Then knife them. Save as much ammo as you can. Use shotgun shells on chainsaws, save flash bangs for the freaks who have weird things come out of their heads and purchase a rocket launcher to defeat each boss. Upgrade the riot shotgun and the semi auto rifle and add the scope. Way easier then Code Veronica X Achievements, that much is for sure.

Just so everyone knows, to make it perfectly clear:

* You cannot play Pro difficulty for the first time and have your infinite rocket launcher et al.

*The Gangster outfit doesn't give Leon any damage resistance in this port, for some god awful reason. But Outfit Option #2 is best for Ashley's armor.

*The hardest part of Pro mode is probably the village at the very beginning due to having bugger all ammo/health (unless you cheat and hide at the top of the big tower until the bell rings, but they can still nail you with molotovs up there lol)

I first thought it would be quite hard but it´s indeed not too hard. The hardest part is the start. Just try to shoot every Enemie in the Head or Knife them if you´re good at dodging attacks. I would recommend to not upgrade any weapon at the start. You just need the pistol for headshots and the shotgun to take groups down if they got you in a corner.

For the El Gigante you should either use the TMP if you have enough space or just knife him (if you have a distraction)or shoot with the pistol in his Face.

For the Mendez Boss fight you should jsut have 2-3 incendiary Grenades. 1 for his normal Form and the 2 for his 2nd Form to shoot him while hes on the Ground.

For the 2 Garadors you should just try to snipe the other enemies or take them down with the shotgun. Then run the stairs

up to the exit and try to hit 1 of them with the rifle (they go nearly everytime just downstairs to "find" you).

For Salazar and Verdugo you schould just use the rocketlauncher to make it easier for you.

In the grail room you should try to snipe the first knight right at the start and weaken another night with the shotgun. Throw a flash grenade and kill the last Knight. Repeat that with the next wave and it´s over. (you can also try to get all 3 with a flash grenade but that´s kinda harder)

Im only at 5-1 now but I still have something around 400k money, upgraded weapons as much as possible (Red9,broken butterfly, rifle,Striker), 250 pistol ammo, 45 shotgun, 30 rifle, something around 30 magnum and 10 full heal items.

Just try to be calm in every situation and use your stronger

I'm kinda PO'd that you can't carry over your unlocks to professional mode with the exception of costume. I mean, what's the point? Did this already on PS2. Meh, it is what it is still, so I decide to make a run through on normal with my Chicago Typewriter just because I'm frustrated and it was a smart move. One thing I learned is when you get to the two story house to get the key that opens up the locked door at the area you first enter into town, don't pick up the key. Instead just run down and unbar the door first, then run back up, get the key, cutscene, run out past the chainsaw man & villagers to the open door without ever firing a shot.

How do you get the typewriter then? And that costume where Ashley is wearing armour? Also how hard is killing regenrators on pro mode? T-T I really don't wanna go against regenrators again, they always freak me out.

The trick for regenerators, if you're low on rifle ammo, is to scope the location of the plagas and shoot them with the pistol.

Thank GOD this is over... Biggest pain in the ass achievement ever... Did it over 3 nights, taking up about 20 hours in the process (I'm VERY OCD about searching EVERY crevice & collecting EVERY item, so I end up spending double the time I otherwise would getting through it)... I struggled with Krauser on normal, simply because my A button doesn't work properly, so the ax dodge I always missed, leading to a 1/5 health cut straight off the bat, and on pro it made it about 3x more damaging, meaning I died about 6 or 7 times on him... Other tricky parts for me on the 2nd playthrough were the very first village encounter & the entirety of the bitch that is 4-1...
It goes without saying that Ashley's armour helps A LOT; in fact, the levels which she's in are too easy, since you can tell her to

stop and just pick off those that are lured to her, but it'd be possible to do without her... VERY time consuming and frustrating all the same though... Glad it's finally over! Can't take anything away from the game though... Now completed it on the wii and the 360, and it's still one of my favourite ever games!

Pro difficulty is not as hard as it seems. Heres how I got through it:

Use Leons mafia outfit unlockable, that way Ashley gets the armour so it gives you one less thing to worry about as she cannot die. You can also use more yellow herbs bumping up your own health rather than hers.

Conserve ammo as much as possible. Go for the knees or headshots. When they go to the floor knife away as this will conserve ammo.

Use your money to upgrade your weapons. I personally went through with the Red9, Machine gun, Shotgun which I then later swapped to Combat Shotgun. I also had the Rifle at the end. I never really bothered with the bolt action one though only used it untill I got to the church then sold it. Also when possible get the free Broken Buterfly inside the Castle. This will save you

Before boss fights purchase a Rocket Launcher, one shot usually will do the trick. This conserves ammo for later on but also helps keep alot of your healing items. Might cost 30,000 to buy one but you usually make that money back plus more on top of that to upgrade your weapons.

Go for the shooting ranges too. If you complete a line you get gold for it, and the amount goes up everytime you complete a line. This also helps for upgrading weapons.

But overall the game is easy enough. Plus you get another unlockable gun at the end. Took me roughly 10 hours to complete. Only bit I struggled on was Krouser but the rest is easy :)

Just got this and it was not easy.
best advice is to have ashley in her armor and tell her to wait in a open area to use her as a decoy.

when something goes nier her just take them out since she cant be harmed or carried away it makes it alot eaiser

Shoot people in the knee's and knife them to save ammo but, only when they're in small group's. Buy the map of the jewel's unless you know them because, you'll need the money. If you are having problem's where you have to get the 2 half's of the medalion to open the door where there are nearly countless enemies stand at the top of the stair's and the guy's with the dynamite will through it killing most of them for you. Once you get "The Punisher" handgun sale the one you started with. For the simple fact 1 bullcan travel through 2 enemies

Verdugo is easy, you should only use the Rocket Launcher on Salazar, Krauser and Saddler on this difficulty. These the freebie on Salazar, either horde magnum bullets and upgrade your free Broken Butterfly for Krauser and use an RPG on Saddler. Simples. Boss fights are probably the easiest part of this difficulty if you know what you are doing.

Is there any chance to play on professional at the 1st playthrough?

I played through the game on the Gamecube 4 times, 2 times on professional and I really don't want to beat it on normal again -.-**
Please help me...

Is it possible to copy a Savegame of somebody, who unlocked professional, so that I can start at pro?

best regards!

#110: No, you have to beat the game a first time to unlock pro mode.

And anybody who has easy... What?... I have never seen easy mode on any resident evil (4 and below anyways--5 and 6 unfortunately have an easy mode).

Normal is easy enough, and on Pro, all I did was only upgraded the weapons I was going to keep, which was the TMP, Red 9, Riot Gun, and Rifle (Semi-Auto).

I sold the Broken Butterfly, as it's not as effective as the TMP during boss fights, and much more costly to upgrade.

I only bought the Rocket Launcher 3 times: one for the Chief, one for Salazar, and one for Saddler at the end.

^I used the Rocket Launcher found in the Castle to kill Verdugo.

I knifed Krauser his whole battle, and if you time your swings right, you will do it without being hurt (but you may be hurt by his TMP, but just run under him when he's above you or behind cover and he'll switch back to his knife.)

If you do all that, and unless you are a horrible shot, there's not too much ammo conservation needed.

And if you're playing the GameCube Version, there's no need for ammo conservation anyways, because it gives you a WHOLE lot of ammo (I literally had to sell a bunch of ammo on Pro because it was taking so much space).

If anyone is stuck at the start of the game where you have to kill the villagers in their village while waiting for the bell to ring, do this.

After looking at the burning victim shoot a villager and then turn around run back to the start of the area so your butt is against the entry door (sometimes there might be villagers here waiting but they shoulnt appear as long as you don't go in too far) and wait for the 4/5 odd villages to come to you. Try and get head shots if you can or shoot them in the knee and kick or knife them. Collect any items from their deaths.

When the second patch of villages come run to the tall look out tower. When your up here they can't climb up for some reason but they can throw Molotov bottles at you. However every time you see a Molotov about to come thr

.....However every time you see a Molotov about to come through the window jump down the ladder. Then quickly turn and run back up. This way the Molotov won't burn you.
Villages will be near the bottom of the ladder but ever time you go back up the ladder they will back away a bit. But in any case they shouldn't be able to hit you if you do to method you'll be ale to dodge the Molotovs and avoid any fighting with villages. So if your fast enough you won't get hit at all.
Keep climbing up the ladder and jumping back down until that bloody bell rings.
Oh you might hear the chainsaw guy but he won't appear, just to scare you me thinks.

I did this last night after dying so many times in that area. Sure I might miss out on villagers dropping items but at least I'm still alive! :3

This is difficult but managed to do it. Don't expect a comfortable ride though, the game gets very tough sometimes. Make sure you conserve ammo, use the knife a lot and try to complete areas without getting injured, it may save your life. For the final boss fight I used: 5 frag grenades, an RPG and the two cranes, each time I used one of these I could stab him in the eye.

Good luck anyone who tries this, vG dArK Night96.

I finally got through this, was pretty tough at some parts. Best advice would be to save up money and use a rocket launcher for all the hard parts. I didn't bother killing any regenerators, besides the spike one which has a keycard. Save lots and use the check points to save as well.

This is one of the most obnoxious comment threads on this website. I came here for tips and advice before I start playing this game for the first, as a newcomer to RE, and for the most part all I see is bullshit cock-waving. "I'm the best in the world; if you want to beat this be like me or you're a faggot" is retarded and pointless. No one is impressed because of a claim you made on a website. Also unhelpful? Telling me it's easy if you did it a million times in the past. And the worst? Giving protips without any sort of fact-checking, because of how the game was 8 years ago. The two versions weren't the same even back then. If you say something without knowing that it's true, go fuck yourself.

Just got this. Played a fucking epic marathon session all day.

I upgraded the Red9, Broken Butterfly, Striker, and Semi-Auto all the way.

make sure you CONSERVE, CONSERVE, CONSERVE ammo. When facing one or two enemies, cap them in the knees and knife the fuckers to death while they're on the ground to save precious ammo. Also, if you're in an area you know you can beat without taking damage, but you DO end up getting yourself a favor and reload the checkpoint and keep trying until you get through the area without having to waste herbs/first aid spray. It'll pay off by the time you get to the the final chapter.

so glad that shit is over. 100%, FUCK YEAH! Classic game, still looks amasing and plays great.

Useful tip: If you are low on ammo and can still upgrade the weapon's ammo capacity, do that, it will reload the gun to max ammo. Useful for saving ammo if you're close to a merchant.

Finished this FINALLY. It really wasn't so horrible until the rooftop fight with Krauser. That kind of sucked the enthusiasm out of the rest of the game for me.

Some general advice:

-As mentioned, the armor for ashley is super useful.
-Using the pistol for a headshot on a ganado will stagger it, allowing you to kick it (with X) then knife it while on the ground to save bullets (just watch for enemies sneaking up on you).
-As mentioned by the commentor above me, upgrading your capacity with low ammo basically allows you to 'buy' ammo. Super useful, because you'll end up with more money drops then bullets.

Some specific advice:

-In the village waiting for the bell to ring, it's worth it to go get the shotgun, even with the chainsaw enemy. There's also a hand grenade in there to destroy a mob of ganados.
-Save up your flash grenades for the time when you're under seige in the house in Ch. 2. I think there were 10-12 bladeheads that showed up in there for me.
-You can use the rifle to headshot a number of the invisible novistadors in the castle.
-Bring a launcher for U3 if you can. I couldn't believe how many magnum shots it took to kill him.
-You can arc a grenade to kill the first turret guy after Krauser.
