Rise of Nightmares

Rise of Nightmares Achievements

Master of the Nightmare

Cleared the "TORTURE" difficulty without dying.

"Torture" is the hardest difficulty, and must be unlocked by first completing the game on either "Humane" or "No Mercy." To select this setting, choose New Game at the Main Menu.

You can die in one or two hits on this setting. The key to surviving is to avoid fights whenever possible, and not to get overwhelmed by groups of enemies. If you are injured, back away if you have room, or block by keeping your arms up. You can still die while blocking if you are already near death.

If you do die, either shut-off your Xbox or quit to the dashboard before YOU ARE DEAD appears on screen. You will have to continue from your last checkpoint, but your death will not count.

Complete all acts on this difficulty without dying to earn this achievement. It will unlock after the cut-scene that is Act 9, which takes place after the credits, so do not turn off the game until you watch it.

To minimize your playthroughs, it is recommended that you go for this achievement at the same time as Nightmare Vanquisher - which is obtained by clearing the game on "Torture" difficulty.

It's actually not to hard. Take your time and block/kick a lot. Also, If you do die, just quickly turn your Xbox off. In the late afternoon when the sun is shining in my living room, kinect doesn't like to track me so I had a bunch of deaths. Just shut the 360 off before I hit the ground and when I beat it, this achievement unlocked.

seems like the creators were like "you know what? lets throw in an impossible achievement just for shits and giggles?" and everyone else in the room was like " someone give this guy a promotion"

Yes, please report back on dashboarding. Powering off is gonna kill my 360 and my ha hard drive prematurely. Hope they bring cloud saves soon.

If you make it so far through the game and die, could you just restart that act? Like does it save if you beat a level without dying so you wouldn't have to start completely over or worry about turning your xbox off

any1 find it funny that this will be harder than just beating the game on torture, yet it has less gamerscore than that achievment

@10 It means quitting out of the game by going back to the dashboard. You can do it quickly by just pressing the guide button and Y. This is mainly done for games that have auto save systems so it doesnt save your progress.

I didn't bother, not worth trying and then most likely discover that it doesn't work.
I've done my 49th achivement, and that's it.
Game Over.

DASHBOARDING WORKS! I had a wireless controller sitting close by and checked every now and then to see if it was still on. When I died I quickly pressed the Dashboard button and exited the game before "You are Dead" appeared on the screen.
Completed the achievement after doing this about 6 times during the game.
