Introduction:
SEGA Bass Fishing, a Dreamcast game, has been ported to the Xbox 360! Available on the Dreamcast Collection, along with an anticipated release on Xbox Live Arcade. SEGA Bass Fishing has 12 achievements, for a total of 200. It may take a bit to get used to how the lures and fishing mechanics work, but once you understand what is needed to catch the big fish, the game gets easy. Two achievements are linked to the professional tournament in original mode, so be careful not to miss them.

Step 1 - Arcade Mode:
Arcade Mode is probably the best place to start. This mode consists of having to hit a weight within a time limit in order to advance to the final stage. However, don't worry about the timer, you get infinite continues. Just press start when time runs out to continue right where you were. Use the opportunity to experiment with different lures and techniques. You will need to be ready to catch fish fast in original mode.

Step 2 - Original Mode:
Original Mode consists of 4 tournaments: amateur, challenge, professional, and masters classic. Each tournament has different rules. See the individual achievements for the specific rules. Make sure that when doing the professional tournament you win each of the 5 stages. This will unlock the achievement "Perfect Angler" along with the 14th lure needed for "Lure Collector".

There is a way to not save your progress if you don't want to. When you finish a stage, it shows your final position. Quit to dashboard, and when you start playing again, it will start you at that stage again. Handy for "Perfect Angler".

Step 3 - I Love Fishing:
I may love fishing, but I hate grinding. After 1 run of arcade and original, expect to be somewhere between 200 and 300 fish. At this point, just keep playing either arcade or original, both count towards 500. You can check your total on the Xbox Live leaderboards, under "Total Fish"

How to Fish:
The hardest part of this game is how to catch fish quickly. If you use the wrong lure, or use the lure wrong, the fish will just stare at you like you are stupid. Thankfully, two lures seem to be the best throughout the game. Also, location matters. Many people seem to have a problem with the Bridge, so it's best to just skip it. In original mode tournaments, hit  to change your location. Either fish at Lodge or Reeds.

Now, which lure to use. In the morning session, the pencil bait is the best lure. This lure will always stay on top of the water. To catch fish, move  left and right. Each time you move the stick, reel in slowly using . If a fish is staring at the lure, let it sit a moment, if nothing happens, do a flick or two. If the fish still does nothing, just reel past it, you can try other fish.

In the afternoon sessions, it is usually too hot to use a top water lure, unless it is raining. If it rains, use pencil bait. Otherwise, use the straight worm. When you cast, let the worm drop to the bottom, then slowly reel it in. If you get too far from the bottom, stop reeling and let it sink. Don't stop reeling if a fish is about to bite.

Once you unlock the sonic lure, use it instead of the straight worm. The sonic lure behaves like the deep crank. Flick  or reel to bring the lure to the bottom, and reel slowly to keep it there.

In the evening sessions, it has cooled down enough to use the pencil bait again.

Once a fish has bitten the lure, if you want it, pull down on  and start reeling with . Otherwise, touch nothing to let the fish go. Now, start reeling. Pressing alone reels slowly, while  reels fast. Start reeling slow, if the tension meter doesn't move, start reeling fast. Try not to the let meter go into the red or green area, keep it yellow. You may still lose the fish though, it seems to happen randomly sometimes. Don't get discouraged. Try again, the fish may still be out there!

Conclusion:
One you get a hang of the fishing mechanics, SEGA Bass Fishing is fun, and it is relatively easy to win the tournaments. However, grinding for "I Love Fishing" can be annoying. Overall, not the hardest 200 on the Dreamcast Collection.

x360a would like to thank Metalteeth9 for this Road Map.

Lure Collector20
You got the 14th and final Lure by placing 1st in all 5 Stages of the Professional Tournament. (2)

This achievement is missable. You start with a few lures, and over the course of playing through original mode, you gain the remainder of the available 13. If you are able to get to the professional tournament, you will have 13 lures. Make sure to win all 5 stages in the professional tournament to get the Sonic lure. The achievement unlocks when you visit your tackle box after the professional tournament. It can be found under Data.

Amateur Winner10
You won the Amateur Tournament.

The amateur tournament is your first tournament in original mode. It consists of 5 stages. You can catch and keep an unlimited number of bass. There is no weight limit to the bass you keep. As with all tournaments, you have 3 sessions of 4 game hours to catch the fish per stage. Just try and catch the big and huge bass, but if a smaller one bites, catch it as well.

Challenge Winner15
You won the Challenge Tournament.

The challenge tournament is the second tournament in original mode. It only consists of 2 stages. You can catch and keep an unlimited number of bass. There is a weight limit of 3 lbs for the bass you keep. As with all tournaments, you have 3 sessions of 4 game hours to catch the fish per stage. Just try and catch the big and huge bass, but if a smaller one bites, catch it as well. It may be above the weight limit.

A Gift Lure10
You got a new lure in ARCADE MODE.

This will happen before you beat arcade mode. Just keep catching fish, and you will get one eventually.

Unbelievable Size20
You caught a bass that weighs more than 20 lbs. (2)

If you keep going for the huge bass in original mode, this one will come eventually. Try casting toward the huge bass. Be careful, it is much more difficult to catch a huge bass than a smaller one. Just reel it slowly, and do your best to not the tension meter go red.

Arcade Winner10
You cleared ARCADE MODE.

This is easy, thanks to unlimited continues. Just hit start when time runs out to continue right where you left off. This is a good opportunity to practice fishing for original mode.

The final stage of arcade mode involves having to catch a huge bass. It can be hard to find the huge bass, but don't give up. Just keep using continues, looking for the bass.

Top Water King15
You caught over 50 basses in ORIGINAL MODE by using Top Water lures. (1)

If you use the lures recommended in the road map, this will come with time. Just use the pencil bait (or other top water lures), and catch bass. To use the pencil bait, reel in slowly while flicking left and right, to make the lure look like a bug in the water.

Perfect Angler30
You won all the stages in the Professional Tournament. (2)

This achievement is missable. You have to win all 5 stages in the professional tournament. On the summary page where it shows all your fish and your weight total at the end of the stage, if you didn't win, quit to dashboard. It won't save, and you can start that stage over.

I Love Fishing20
You caught a total of 500 basses. (2)

This achievement is a grind. After a run of original and arcade mode, you should be around 200 to 300 bass.

To hit 500, play any mode, all count to your totals. I found practice mode to be the best, as there is no timer, no loading screens after the first one, and the fish constantly restock. Using the reeds, morning, in the rain, I averaged a fish per minute. To see how many fish you have caught, check the online leaderboards.

It will unlock right when you catch the 500th fish.

Professional Winner15
You won the Professional Tournament.

The professional tournament is the third tournament in original mode. It consists of 5 stages. You can catch and keep only your best 5 bass. There is a weight limit of 3 lbs for the bass you keep. As all tournaments, you have 3 sessions of 4 game hours to catch the fish per stage. Just try and catch the big and huge bass. If a smaller one bites, you can just let it go if you think it won't be your top 5 bass.

I never saw the computer go above 35 lbs in the tournament, so if you can get above 35 lbs, you should be good.

Masters Classic Winner20
You won the Masters Classic Tournament.

The master's classic tournament is the final tournament in original mode. It only consists of 2 stages. You can catch and keep your best 7 bass. There is a weight limit of 4 lbs for the bass you keep. As all tournaments, you have 3 sessions of 4 game hours to catch the fish per stage. Just try and catch the big and huge bass. If a smaller one bites, you can just let it go if you think it won't be in your top 7 bass.

I never saw the computer go above 51 lbs in the tournament. So if you can go above 51 lbs, you should be good.

Ranker Killer15
You caught over 30 Huge basses in ORIGINAL MODE.

This will come with time in original mode. Just try and catch the large, yellowish colored fish. It is clear which are the big ones. They are over 10lbs. Be careful, the huge bass are much harder to catch than smaller ones. Reel it in slowly, trying not to let the tension meter go in the red.
