Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Achievements

Gotta buy them all

20
Purchase all upgrades for any one Skylander. (primary profile)

This achievement can be glitchy right now. Here's some potential fixes which people have found:

Claim ownership of the creature which will have all of the upgrades purchased.
Have your co-op partner (the one not getting achievements) unlock the final upgrade.

The amount to upgrade varies by character. The final ability can only be obtained by finding the Soul Gems in the different chapters. The locations of these soul gems are as follows, as they can be found pretty much in the open in these levels:

  • Spyro - Crawling Catacombs
  • Gill Grunt - Treetop Terrace
  • Trigger Happy - Cadaverous Crypt

The easiest way to get money would be to replay the final couple of levels using the chapter select after finishing the main story if you have not collected enough money on characters during the normal progression. It is important to note that any money beyond full upgrades is essentially wasted.

*GLITCH ALERT*
If you attempt to use another friends skylander that has already been upgraded the result will be the disabling of this particular achievement. The achievement will become unattainable to the profile and will never be acquired unless a patch is released. I have tested this with five profiles so use caution or this one small mistake could cost you the full 1000 gamerscore of the game permanently, restarting your game does not assist either. Already been attempted three different times.

I've been nailed by this glitch, but there's something more to it than that. I have only ever used Skylanders owned by me, but the first Skylander I maxed out all the moves for was one I has used with the Web game. I have since maxed out five other Skylanders, including one I had never used on the Web game, and still no achievement.

#2, thanks for your careful observations. You are correct apparently this glitch has a much larger range of afflicted gamers yourself included. There is still a glitch alert but disregard the first post as there are more elements involved than the original post suggested. This will obviously require further observation to figure out just what's going on...

#4 done and done, the glitch has been reported. But remember I can only report the glitches to the achievement that I'm associated with. If anyone else wishes to have their say please do so, I may have encountered the glitch but there may be many other problems associated with the glitch. So please if you have the time to do so report the problem, but in your terms of which lead to the glitch. In other words just say what you did up to that point in that game and let the staff interpret what occured that may of caused the glitch. Thanks for all the great feedback on this achievement, glad to hear at least we're trying to get to the bottom of this.

My Spyro (the Skylander that got me the achievement) had been previously used by another profile on my 360.
When it first asks you to place a skylander on the Portal I popped him on and straight away went for the reset option.

I am glad i am not the only one having this problem.
Those of you who have reported this problem, do you have all the contact info you used?
I figure the more of us that log a complaint the better our odds of getting this sorted and patched.

This is just a thought but has anyone tried resetting the character and going down the other path?

this is a crap glitch. I haven't used any figures but my own, on my own console, on my own profile, bought everything for Trigger Happy (went down his gun 'path') and this didn't pop for me..

Contacted Activision about this, here was their response:

I am sorry to hear you are having this problem.

If you have leveled up multiple Skylanders all of the way and still have not received the achievement, then this may be an issue with your save.

Please note the following "fix" is not officially supported by Activision. This has been known to solve this issue for some people and may be able to resolve this issue for you.

1. You need to have 1 Skylander that is 1 upgrade from having everything unlocked. Please note that the upgrade cannot be the one that requires the Soul Gem.

2. You need to have a USB/external memory unit for your XBox 360

To resolve this issue;
(in the XBox 360 Home Screen)
Select Settings > System > Memory > Storage > Games and Apps > Skylanders:

Select Settings > System > Memory > Storage > Games and Apps > Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. You will need to take your save file, and move it to your external memory unit. Once this is done, there should be no saved data in the Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure folder.

Once this is done, launch the game and it will be as though you have started from scratch. You will need to play to the point where you save Persephone, and can once again purchase Upgrades. Once you purchase the final upgrade (that does not include the required Soul Gem), you should unlock the "Gotta Buy Em All" achievement.

Once you have the achievement, you can once again move your Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure save data from your memory unit, back to your hard drive. This will allow you to continue from your original

I have also followed the above suggestions, but have still not gotten the achievement. Could it possibly be because I had my game on an external drive and then moved it to the hard drive and started again on the external drive?

I still cannot get this to work. Followed the video posted by Lethargik. Is the Soul Gem Upgrade included in this?

I had this glitch for the longest time. I tried restarting my game and playign it off of a flash drive and that did NOT work. After watching the link above I played a fresh file on the hard drive and changed the figure's ownership to the new game, bought the last upgrade and finally got it. The final upgrade you buy on the new game cannot be the one that requires the soul gem.

I did not change the ownership... I will try that tonight and see how it goes! Thanks!

I got the achievement after getting the Soul Gem (as well as all other upgrades) after following the instructions in the video. Yikes! So glitchy! But finally got it!

Lethargik link did work for me. I didn't have a USB drive so I just put my normal save file onto the Cloud Storage system and it worked perfectly fine. The reason it is said not to make the Soul Gem last is because you wouldn't have gained it in the story mode.

addition for the glitch their is no need to use a usb or move it just simply start a new game on your account providing you have a free save slot and then change ownership on the game to the new save and then go and follow the rest of the details to get the achievo

This achievement glitched on me, since I used some skylanders I played with on ps3, but I was able to get it to pop without restarting. All I did was purchase all the upgrades for another skylander and made sure that the last upgrade purchased was not the soul gem ability. Not sure why it popped, but based on my experience and the posts above I believe it has to do with purchasing the soul gem ability last.
