Introduction:

This is a 3rd person action adventure game similar to the title before it: Shattered Dimensions. Unlike Shattered Dimensions, you are inside one building and control only 2 different Spider Mans. The challenges which were very level oriented before, are now available to play without needing to run through the whole level. Also, you will be pleased to know there is no platinum rankings needed (if you played the previous game). You will be playing through twice, once on normal and the other on hard. There are no missable achievements to worry about, though there are golden spiders you must collect.

Step 1: Normal playthrough

Choose normal for your first playthrough. Mostly what your doing now is getting all the story related achievements, unlocking all of the challenges and beating it to unlock the Hard difficulty. All the while collecting Golden Spiders.

Note: Hard mode can only be unlocked after beating normal. It will not unlock while playing on easy.

-GOLDEN SPIDERS-
Golden Spiders can be found when the icon (along with how many you have) shows up just below the top right of the screen. It will begin to flash rapidly when you are close by them. There are usually from what I've learned in obvious spots like on ceilings, behind a box, in a room away from the main path, etc. You can also earn Golden Spiders for defeating all of the enemies in the area. Again you should see the icon if there is a Golden Spider award. But to be safe, just kill them all anyway.

Step 2: Finish Challenges

Now that you have beaten the game, go ahead and play all of the challenges. This will ensure you have a fully upgraded Spider Man for Hard mode. Though, after beating the game once, you should almost be completely upgraded. There are several of them but most take only a few minutes. They are actually very easy. A few will cause you some frustration, specifically free-fall challenges. Other than that, they will not cause you too much stress.

Step 3: Hard Playthrough and Mop Up:

Now go ahead and play through on hard mode. After doing the challenges and being maxed out, this playthrough should take you a few hours and be quite easy. You can skip most enemies in the game and because of the challenges, you will have learned quick ways to complete certain areas. You cannot actually collect any health but defeating enemies will still provide. Checkpoints are pretty frequent so you should really have no trouble rushing through for your last achievement.

Conclusion:

The game can be considered a medium difficulty achievement game. All of the achievements are very straight forward and the ability to use chapter select makes things less stressful. Only a minimum amount of collecting but a lot of challenges do require some attention. Overall you will be content with your accomplishments. Not too easy but not incredibly difficult either. There are some extremely annoying enemies in the game, and without a block button, you might be glad your experience is over.

There are a total of 5 chapters in Act 2. Complete the below chapters for the achievement.

    • Chapter 12: The Imperfect Storm
    • Chapter 13: Connecting the Strands
    • Chapter 14: Nowhere to Run
    • Chapter 15: When Creatures Attack
    • Chapter 16: Countdown to Disaster
    • Chapter 17: Over the Edge
  • Complete all levels on Normal

Complete all of the acts on this difficulty. It is the difficulty you must play on to unlock hard mode. This is where you will gain almost all of your achievements.

  • Complete all levels on Hard

You play hard by using chapter select. Hit to change your difficulty and set it to hard which is 3 stars. Do this after you have done all of the challenges. The challenges will have taught you the quickest ways to do things in the game. You will ultimately rush through on hard without worrying about achievements. This makes this playthrough stress free. You are also maxed out. It will feel like an easier playthrough than normal was.

  • Defeat 100 enemies

See "Spider Slugger Supreme" achievement description.

  • Defeat 500 enemies

This is one of those achievements which will come with normal play. You defeat well over 500 enemies in the game. I would almost consider it story related, because in many instances you have to kill enemies to move on in the game.

  • Web of Challenges - Obtain all Gold Medals for a Chapter

    See "Consumate Completist" achievement description.

  • Web of Challenges - Obtain all Gold Medals for an Act

    See "Consumate Completist" achievement description.

  • Web of Challenges - Obtain all Gold Medals

The Web of Challenges at first glance seems difficult. It maybe was while you were playing the game and got side tracked with them, but this is not the case when you play them separate. After beating the game you will have unlocked all possible challenges (you do not have to accept/attempt them at time they are offered in story).

Use your powers for combos, it makes it extremely easy. You will have to try a few times to do the orb challenges. The only challenges that might frustrate you are the free-fall challenges which almost take memorization (somewhat). Otherwise, the challenges are not difficult and most take under a couple of minutes to complete. Doing all of them from scratch should take you less than 2 hours.

  • Obtain 1/4 of the Golden Spiders

See "Spider Snagger Supreme" achievement description.

  • Obtain 1/2 of the Golden Spiders

See "Spider Snagger Supreme" achievement description.

  • Obtain all Golden Spiders

There are golden spiders in the levels that you can collect. There are two types, one is by physically collecting them. They are golden spiders walking around on walls, ceilings, in vents, behind a force field, etc. The other kind are rewards from defeating certain enemies. When you see the gold spider icon blinking on your screen, it means you are close. If you are fighting enemies and there is a red flash on the spider, it means you need to clear all enemies. Each chapter has a specific amount of them in specific locations. If you go to chapter select, you can see how many of them you have. Luckily, they are placed in order as you get them. Therefore if you miss the 2nd spider on a chapter but collected 4 others, the chapter select screen will show you missing the 2nd spider to the right. This helps determine which one you have missed while following a collectibles guide.

Note: There are not enough golden spiders in the game to fully upgrade your characters. You will have to get golds on the challenges to be able to upgrade completely. That being said, you also must gold every challenge mission in order to gain this achievement.

For all of the locations, go HERE.

  • Buy all Combat Upgrades

Combat upgrades can be purchased from the main menu or while playing via the in-game menu. These upgrades are the blue ones. You must purchase the upgrades. The way to gain the currency is through collecting orbs and defeating enemies. You also get rewarded them when completing challenges. You must upgrade everything for Amazing Spider-Man, Shared, and 2099. There are 32 different combat upgrades, many with several levels. You should be able to fully upgrade Spider-Man by the end of the game.

  • Buy all Character Upgrades

Character upgrades are similar to Combat upgrades and are actually listed above them in the upgrade menu. They are golden and require golden spiders to unlock. To gain golden spiders you must collect the throughout the chapters (specific amount per chapter). Also, when getting a gold medal on a challenge, you will obtain one. You will not likely have enough spiders by the end of the game to be fully upgraded. Even after collecting all spiders in the chapters, you will have to get gold medals in challenges to finish them off.

  • Obtain all Alternate Suits

There are many alternate suits in the game. You unlock them as you progress, but also by completing challenges. You get keys to unlock them when completing the challenges. Once you have one you may unlock costumes of your choice within the bonus gallery. Unlock all of them on the list to gain the achievement.

  • Execute a 50-hit combo

    See "Infinite Slugger" achievement description.

  • Execute a 100-hit combo

    See "Infinite Slugger" achievement description.

  • Execute a 200-hit combo

There really isn't a lot of places to get this, in fact I only found one that was fool proof. In Act 3 Chapter 12: The Imperfect Storm. You will have to protect DNA carts. During the 4th one, the enemies will keep respawning every time you activate the computer console. Abuse this. Keep pressing it, then letting the cart get destroyed. Doing it 3-4 times will create a ton of enemies (you won't be able to see some of them). Now stand in front of the cart, hold to do an area of effect attack as long as you purchased it. Keep doing it until you get the achievement. It's extremely easy

  • Collect 500 Orb Fragments

    See "Collector Detector" achievement description.

  • Collect 1000 Orb Fragments

    See "Collector Detector" achievement description.

  • Collect 2000 Orb Fragments

This is a type of currency in the game. They are purple orbs and are collected by moving over them. There are a lot in the game. You should have no trouble collecting enough to get all of the related achievements. By chapter 6 it's possible to already have 1000 of them. If you replay chapters it will all count towards your total. You can replay the start of a chapter that has a lot of them, then quit out once you hit a checkpoint. But you should be able to just grab them all while playing the game naturally.

Note: These are often used as a hint of what direction to go in the game. They do not appear on hard difficulty.

  • Complete Session 3 or later without dying

This can be done on any difficulty setting. Session is basically a chapter. The game does not count Chapter 1 specifically as a chapter for this achievement. Therefore, the achievement can be gained from Chapter 4: No Way Out and onwards. You will probably get this without trying. A fairly quick and easy level is chapter 5: Pro and Anti-Venom. You do have to fight Anti-Venom, but it's not that difficult if you use your a lot. Just spam attacks (air strikes if you can). Anti-Venom is not defeated here, so do not think you have to take away all of his life.

Do not try to replay levels to get this achievement until you have beaten the game. It's actually quite hard to die in this game if you keep up with your attacks. Grabbing orbs gives you life as well. If you find yourself dying in every level, try replaying a level on easy difficulty.

  • Perform 3 of each type of Grab Attacks on enemies

There are 3 different Grab Attacks in the game. They are purchased through the upgrade menu on the "shared" list. You must first initiate a Grab Action to use them.

Grab Action: Press to grab an enemy, the attack while holding. This is what you press first to start a grab attack.

Knockback: After performing a grab action, press
Air Launcher: After performing a grab action, press
Ground Slam: After performing a grab action, press

You must do these all 3 times each.

  • Perform 3 of each Air Attack on enemies

There are 3 different Air Attacks in the game. They are purchased through the upgrade menu on the "shared" list. You must first activate Air Launcher to then do the Air Attacks.

Air Launcher: Hold to launch an enemy into the air. This is what you press first to start a grab attack.

Aerial Downward Punch: After performing Air Launcher, hold in the air
Aerial Knock Away: After performing Air Launcher, hold in the air
Aerial ground Slam: After performing Air Launcher, hold in the air

You must do these all 3 times each.

  • Damage enemies with Roundhouse Spin and Web Hammer 10 times each

These are two upgrades you must first purchase. Amazing Spider-Man uses the Web Hammer and 2099 Spider-Man uses Roundhouse Spin. After unlocking them, hold to use the attack. It must be executed 10 different times when it hits 1 or more enemies. Each enemy does not count for the achievement, it will only count one for using it.

Almost the entire Chapter 14: Nowhere to Run is increasing the maximum power. Once you escape and start the next chapter, the achievement will unlock.

While Spider-Man on Chapter 3: Wild Cards, you will need to save the future Spider-Man from being crushed by a robot. Once you get to the stationary robot that is under construction, just stand in the 3 blue points around the robot and pull the limbs off. There is one at the leg, arm, and head.

  • Defeated Anti-Venom on any difficulty level

    Story related, can't be missed.

This is basically the boss of Act 1. Attack with normal combo attacks and when Anti-Venom is about to attack, just activate . If you apply this basic method through the entire fight, you should have no trouble with this boss. When he is hurt enough you will have to run to him and tap . There will be a point when you end up in another room and have to help the normal Spider-Man out by destroying some things. Here, Anti-Venom takes no damage. Just have him charge at you while you are in front of one of the freezing chambers. Hit to evade and he will destroy them. Once enough is destroyed, you will continue the fight like normal but a new attack is involved from Anti-Venom. Don't worry, use the same tactics as before. This is a very easy fight since your stamina refills so quickly.

  • Obtained all Newspapers

    Story related, can't be missed.

As you complete levels you will gain newspapers. If you go to your challenges you see where they have been unlocking (they are a blue icon). You should get this achievement after you beat the game.

  • Avoided 100 attacks with Accelerated Decoy

This must be done using Spider-Man 2099. It is learned in the first real chapter (Things Fall Apart). You press to create a decoy in order to dodge enemy attacks. Learning this, you will have enemies shooting 3 rockets at a time at you. Just keep using the decoy and ignore Spider-Man when he tells you to move on. This is an extremely easy place to get the achievement if you want to grind it out. Otherwise you can just try to gain it naturally.

  • Evaded 100 attacks with Hyper-Sense

While the regular Spider-Man, you can activate this by pressing . You can get this naturally, or if you want it easy you can go to a laser and trigger the Hyper-Sense. Run through the laser multiple times. Once your stamina refills, do it again. Each time you pass a laser it will count. Otherwise, you might get this as long as you use the power often.

  • Completed a Freefall section by boosting the entire time

Your first free-fall section will be near the end of Chapter 4: No Way Out. To get this you will need to hold the down. This is a lot easier than it sounds. You can die as many times as you want, as long as you don't let go of the button it will still count towards this achievement. When you spawn again and are holding it, the game registers it as the whole time even after passing checkpoints. A good tip though, is whenever there is a blue X looking marker showing up, it means you will run into that object. Just press the appropriate direction on your analogue to avoid collision. Do not think you must navigate the entire time. Let the game do it for you. Your only roll is to press the right directions (for the most part).

    Free-fall Chapter Locations

    1. Chapter 4: No Way Out - 1 free-fall
    2. Chapter 8: Here There Be Monsters - 3 free-falls
    3. Chapter 10: MJ on the Run - 1 free-fall
    4. Chapter 14: Nowhere to Run - 2 free-falls
