Do You See What I See

Survive Darkness Deadly Descent without equipping a headlamp or pulse goggles (in World Tour)

Mount Kilimanjaro: Snake Bite

For this achievement, you have to survive Deadly Descent: Darkness without equipping a headlamp or pulse goggles.

This Descent will throw you straight into a subterranean cave system with almost no light, at night. It's pretty dark down there, but here's where you get tricky. Turn the Brightness on your TV all the way up to 100%, play at night, and/or turn off other light sources to reduce glare. This will pretty much negate any challenge from the dark, and make it far easier to complete.

I found this run easier to complete than with using the Headlamp as the entire course being lit the same made it easier to see your surroundings instead of what is directly ahead of you. Once again you have no opponent, so feel free to stop as often as you need to and take it slow. There are lots of railings down here and you can grind almost all of the lips on the crevasses, so if you're having some trouble with falling over the edges, you can hold down and grind most edges, though you may not want to rely on this as occasionally crevasse edges may end your grind due to little bumps.

I highly recommend against using the wingsuit or boosting here. Boosting will made you a bit harder to control and may send you up the side of a wall or dunk you into a crevasse.

Note: Has to be in World Tour.

CutterSchrute is correct, this happens on Kilimanjaro. This achievement is actually a little difficult for me to get right now as it is pretty hard to see and you have a limit on the number of rewinds you can use.

You can also use the pulse goggles that you are supposed to use on the Whiteout Deadly Descent. Worked really well for me.

i don't know how i did this. i had no rewinds left at the end, fell down a crevasse, and ryu hayabusa wall jumped out of it like 3 times and got back on solid ground and finished. haha saved myself on that lol

Sorry if its hard to make out but if you're watching this you know its pitch black in the caves! Watch it full screen.

Turn your brightness, contrast, backlight and colour UP on your TV.

Make sure you use a low speed snowboard. Always hold down LT so you grind the edge if you nearly fall off. If you feel you're getting too fast just tap back on the left analog stick

I recorded this video so you could see what route i went and so that it hopefully might help you.

my word that was nervewracking! normally play on classic controls but changed to standard and just held the LT the entire way down. go slow and turn brightness up on your tv. it won't be really clear or anything but at least you can see some way in front of you! only 1 rewind :D

@ #6 the achievement description says without headlamp or pulse goggles.

I've kinda taken my time getting through world tour...the global events have given me enough challenge. I just got to Kilimanjaro the other day.....and it's so far proven to be the biggest challenge so far. I thought I was taken to task enough in the Himalayas and that crazy oxygen tank.

You should take on this achievement by learning the drop in "explore" and you should try to follow the gold medal route first and run through it a few times with a headlamp and learn the route, then try it in "explore" without the headlamp to see if you can remember the route. Then go at it in "world tour". Sometimes the trails of other races help you determine the route you should go and it might not be so frustrating. Good Luck!

If you don't have alot of patience then the most simple and effective way of getting this achievement is by adjusting your TV/monitor brightness to full.It also helps if you adjust the contrast also (About half way). I've been trying to get this achievement "legitimately" But if your an achievement hunter and want to rack up the achievements on SSX then this is the easiest way to get it without throwing your controller at the screen in anger! ADD me if you play SSX still my GT is Mr RubeusHagrid ....
