Preperation: Knowing the Missables
Ok, there are quite a few small things that can ruin a lot of long-term achievements in this game. First and foremost, do not sell anything. Ever. You may need it later for item creation. Even created items might be used again (duplicated for an order, etc) so keep those too. A good idea would be to first look at all the threads linked in our Star Ocean Encyclopedia found here before you start playing. All our lists should have missable items noted in red or in the notes/instructions fields for each section. If you follow our guides religiously, you shouldn't have any issues.

AEOS: First off, at the beginning speak with a man named Van inside the Calnus to receive one of the recipe memos, you'll need this for the IC achievement. Second, after defeating the boss on the beach, buy an Eldarian bow at the Exploration Base before leaving the planet, you'll need this for a shop order on the next planet that you can't fill without it and you can't return to get it before the order expires. Third, make sure you finish all quests and orders here before leaving for En II (the flight that actually ends up at the Alternate Earth) or you will miss them. Check the quest thread for more info.

LEMURIS: Make sure you do the orders in Triom before you finish the events on the Celestial Ship or you will miss them. Check the quest thread for more info.

CARDIANON MOTHERSHIP: First off, charge your fire ring to full before coming here. There are Ice Barrier chests you will need to unseal with it. All sections of this (ship, subterranean city, control tower) must be completed in full before moving on. This includes chests, weapon data, monster data and spaceship data. Check all those threads for more info. Also, make sure you collect Lizardskin x5 for one of the expiring orders on Aeos. You can't find another spot to earn Lizardskin before the order expires and you can't return to this area to get them.

ALTERNATE EARTH: Again, fill your fire ring before departing for the flight to En II (which actually ends up here) for the Ice Barrier chests. All chests and monster data must be completed before finishing this area. There is no weapon or spaceship data in this area.

FAIZE SWITCH: Also be aware of a few glitches that arise because of the switch from Faize to Arumat during the story. There are four IC recipes that require Faize to be in the creation process. Make sure you learn all four of these sabers (Iron, Elastic, Rune, Onyx) before he leaves. Also, if you are on your 2nd (or later) playthrough and you decide to keep Faize in your party instead of taking Arumat, you won't be able to get the Crowe or Faize endings since Arumat won't be on your ship to trigger PAs with. Oh, and make sure you don't have anything equipped on Faize that you will need later when he's going to be switched out (namely the Iron Protector).

I don't believe there is anything else, but if there is, please do let me know and I will include it.

Step 1: Galaxy Playthrough
You will want to begin your game on Galaxy, for when you complete Galaxy difficulty you will unlock Universe difficulty. It is possible to attain all 9 endings during this playthrough and it will save a lot of time in your next two plays since you would be able to ignore the Private Actions all together. Check the PA guide for more info on the endings. Focus on getting all the collection data achievements during this playthrough as well. If you followed the instructions above and didn't miss any of the missables, you can do all of the 100% collection achievements during this playthrough. You will be able to work on everything after finishing the game, so don't worry about rushing anything.

Step 2: Universe Playthrough
After beating the game on Galaxy, start a new game (make sure to transfer your collection data) on Universe and play to the end. This will unlock Chaos. If you missed any of the endings during Step 1, work on those here and continue to work on any collection data you still need.

Step 3: Chaos Playthrough
Again, be sure to transfer over your collection data to this new game and complete the game on Chaos. If you missed any of the endings during Step 1, work on those here and continue to work on any collection data you still need.

Step 4: Mop Up (Earth Difficulty)
If you've missed any achievement until now because of any of the many missables, finish those up here since it will be much easier. This is also an easier way to work on your remaining battle trophies. Choose to keep Faize during the story so you have two end-game saves, one on Galaxy with Arumat and one here with Faize.

[x360 would like to thank The Pants Party for this Road Map.]

Ultimate Battler10
Obtain 100% of all battle trophies. (12)
There are 900 total battle trophies, 100 for each playable character. For all the "per battle" trophies, such as consecutive hits or exact damage, you will personally have to do the action. For some of the larger accumulated ones, such as fighting a certain number of battles, those can be worked on by the AI. However, to actually force the trophy to unlock, you have to use that character personally in battle (some require that you end the battle in control of them). For instance, I never used Faize until the second boss battle, but at the end of that battle I got two trophies for Faize for completing 50 and 100 battles.

A nice way to work on some of the more technical trophies is to return to an older area and set everyone to manual control, then use whichever character you need so the AI won't screw it up for you.

Concerning Faize: you won't have him the entire game during your first playthrough, but on any subsequent play (so long as you do a "clear data save" at the end of your first play) you can choose to keep him in your party instead of taking on the new recruit during the story.

A full list of the trophies can be found here. A walkthrough with tips can be found here. This achievement can be worked on over multiple playthroughs, but each trophy's individual stats will only be on one save file. For instance, if you need to kill 100 enemies, you can't kill 99 on one save and then 1 on another to unlock the trophy. All 100 would need to be killed on the same save file. Once you did that, the actual trophy will move to any of your other save files though.
Ship Savant20
Collect 100% of all spaceship data.
There are 22 ships to discover information on. Inspecting terminals around the world will give you the information you need. For a list and how to find each piece of data, see this thread.
Arms Addict30
Collect 100% of all weapon data.
There are 147 total weapons to learn about in the game. Most will be given by acquiring weapons (purchasing, finding or creating them), but some can only be learned about by inspecting "prop" weapons, speaking with NPC characters or fighting an enemy who has that weapon. A detailed list and how to obtain each one can be found here. Whenever you come to a new town, buy any weapon in its shop, even if you're not going to equip it.
Creature Collector20
Collect 50% of all monster data.
See "Monster Master" for more info.
Monster Master30
Collect 100% of all monster data.
There are 154 total entries needed to complete the monster data. A full list and their locations can be found here. You do NOT need to get 100% knowledge on each monster for these achievements, just fight them once so they appear in your data screen.
Dilettante Designer20

See "World's Biggest Welch Fan" for more info.
You will get this achievement at 65 created items.
Aspiring Architect20

Inspired Inventor20

You will get this achievement at 257 created items.
World's Biggest Welch Fan20
Create 100% of all possible items. (3)
The Item Creation guide can be found here and the locations of items you may need to craft everything can be found here. There are 321 items to create in all. I would highly suggest writing down whenever you make something so you're not confused toward the end of what items you're missing and still need to make. There are checklists in the Encylopedia thread on the forums to assist you in keeping track. Make sure you take note of the missable recipes in the beginning of the game and the four missable items you need Faize to invent from the Road Map at the top of this guide. If you miss any of those things you won't be able to get 100% - it needs to be done in a single playthrough.
Treasure Hunter20
Open 50% of all treasure chests.
See "Treasure Hoarder" for more info.
Treasure Hoarder30
Open 100% of all treasure chests. (2)
A walkthrough of all the chests for this achievement can be found here. Be aware that many chests are missable, so be thorough in every section. Also make sure to charge your rings before going into any dungeon since some you can not leave and can not return to; if you're out of Fire blasts and come across an Ice chest, you'll be out of luck. If you follow the chest guide you will get the 50% achievement inside the Purgatorium. This achievement must be done in a single playthrough.
Errand Boy20
Complete 30% of all quests.
See "Dutiful Deliverer" for more info.
Potential Postman20
Complete 60% of all quests.
See "Dutiful Deliverer" for more info.
Dutiful Deliverer30
Complete 100% of all quests.
Quests are two-fold for these achievements. The normal quests you get where you help people out AND the orders you can fill in all the shops in the game are required. Some orders and quests are missable, so check the "instructions" in the walkthrough for when to complete a section to avoid missing something. A walkthrough of all the quests and orders can be found here. This achievement must be done in a single playthrough.

Reimi's Ending10
Viewed Reimi's ending sequence.
All of the endings are short sections that play after you've beaten the game for each of the main characters, as well as two small epilogues that will play after the credits. It is possible to unlock all nine in one playthrough. You will have to be very careful to follow the instructions for Crowe and Faize, and be diligent to find as many PA's as possible for the other characters to get them all at once. The later someone joins your party, the harder it is to get their achievement. If you follow the guide I've made here, you will get all nine at once.

Following the guide linked above will only be half the battle. The other half is to refrain from pickpocketing. If you do this often, your friends will see and lower their affinity for you. If you do choose to pickpocket (or just to get an extra affinity boost), using a Love Potion No. 256 can help.
Lymle's Ending10
Viewed Lymle's ending sequence.

Sarah's Ending10

Arumat's Ending10
Viewed Arumat's ending sequence.
See "Reimi's Ending" for more info.
Faize's Ending10
Viewed Faize's ending sequence. (1)

In addition to having good affinity in general like the other endings, you need these specific PA's triggered or you have no chance of getting the achievement.

  1. On the third leg of the flight from Lemuris to Cardianon, view Faize's first training event in the storage area north of the meeting room.
  2. On the fifth leg of the flight from the Cardianon Mothership to the alternate Earth, trigger the event at the Item Creation terminal that ends with an accidental kiss between Lymle and Faize.
  3. On the sixth leg of the flight from the Cardianon Mothership to the alternate Earth, speak with Lymle in the recreation room.
  4. On the third leg of the flight from Planet Roak to Planet Aeos, skip the Meracle event and speak to Lymle in the recreation room instead.
  5. Make Faize and Lymle roommates, then make sure to speak with them in their room during the fourth leg of the flight from Roak to Aeos, or after triggering the Faize training event while docked on Aeos.
  6. On the second leg of the flight from Aeos to En II, have some cookies with Lymle and Reimi in the recreation room.
  7. On the seventh leg of the flight from Aeos to En II, speak to Sarah and Lymle in the room with the battle simulator.
  8. While docked on Nox Obscurus, speak with Lymle in the storage area north of the meeting room. This one requires a lot of affinity between Lymle, Faize and Edge (but by doing the first 7 steps you should be there).
Again, refer to "Reimi's Ending" - all these are listed in order they appear during the game in the walkthrough.
Crowe's Ending 10
Viewed Crowe's ending sequence.

In addition to good affinity, you also need to earn the endings for Reimi, Meracle and Sarah (in the same playthrough) AND have these specific PA's triggered:

  1. On the fifth leg of the flight to Cardianon, speak to Reimi in the room with the battle simulator.
  2. After recruiting Myuria but BEFORE completing the Purgatorium, return to the Calnas to speak with Myuria and Bacchus in the crew quarters.
  3. Either during the flight to En II or while docked there, trigger an event with Arumat and Reimi. Make sure to answer that Crowe is either your best friend or your enemy.
  4. Place a funeral boquet near the remains of Crowe's ship in the Halls of Termination on Nox Obscurus.
Again, refer to "Reimi's Ending" - all these are listed in order they appear during the game in the walkthrough.
Colosseum Charter 10
Broke into the top 30 in solo or team battle rankings.
See "Colosseum Champion" for more information.
Colosseum Challenger20
Broke into the top 10 in solo or team battle rankings.
See "Colosseum Champion" for more information.
Colosseum Champion30
Took over the top spot in solo or team battle rankings. (1)
To open the Colosseum you will first need to complete the quest "Where's the Receptionist?" on Planet Roak in the Astralian Continent, the city of Tatroi. After doing so, you will then need to fight many battles to progress up the rankings and you can only challenge someone three spots ahead of you to move up. You may need to be around level 110 to get the top ranking for the team boards, but the solo can be done sooner. Solo matches are best won using Edge or Meracle, while team matches you should use Bacchus and his Black Hole Sphere to deal with multiple enemies at once, or just fight however you are most comfortable with your other fighters (I personally use Edge, Meracle, Sarah and either Myuria or Reimi). You should work on the team ladder since you will need the #1 ranked person for your Monster achievement and a few Battle Trophies.

Note: The option to fight for the top spot of each ladder won't show up until you fight the #2 fighter a few times in a row. Just keep killing them until #1 can be selected.
Hasty Hare Handler 10
Earned 50 victories in class 100 bunny racing.
See "Rapid Rabbit Wrangler" for more info.
Rapid Rabbit Wrangler20
Earned 100 victories in class 100 bunny racing. (1)
To compete in Bunny Races, you first need to finish the quest "Listless Bunny" (which can only be done after "Where's the Receptionist?" and is located in the same city) which will reward you with a bunny. To win class 100 races (the hardest) your bunny will require stats around 170 in all categories, but you can max them to 200 to be safe. To increase your bunny's stats, you need to use Item Creation to make pies to feed it.
  • Speed Pie: +3 Speed
  • Acceleration Pie: +3 Acceleration
  • Stamina Pie: +3 Stamina
  • Miracle Pie: +3 [Random Stat]
Refer to an excellent guide found here for how to go about winning these races.
Celestial Slayer40
Defeated Gabriel Celeste. (22)
Gabriel is found at the end of the Cave of the Seven Stars bonus dungeon. After beating the game, you will save once again and be placed back before the final boss. However, there will be two new teleporters: the east will transport you to the Calnus, the west to the Undying Dragon. Defeating the Undying Dragon will give you the Darkness Ring which will unlock the Cave of the Seven Stars by breaking the light-seal door in the Colosseum's west wing.

For more information on this dungeon and boss, see here.
Ethereal Executioner40
Defeated the Ethereal Queen. (2)
The Ethereal Queen is found at the end of the Wandering Dungeon bonus dungeon. Once you have cleared the Cave of the Seven Stars, take the elevator in En II back to the Road to the Old Sanctuary and speak with Barago, Keeper of Past Knowledge. He will guide you to the Wandering Dungeon.

For more information on this dungeon and boss, see here.
