Introduction:
Welcome to Sunset City! In Sunset Overdrive you take on the role of a largely self customized hero fighting hordes of 'OD' in a fun take on the post apocalyptic setting. This game above all is about fun, ridiculous action and contains some of the best parkour style movement ever put into a game.
The achievements in this game are somewhat straight forward and mostly quite easy, with the odd one possibly posing some challenge. There is a lot of grinding to look forward too as the amount of collectibles to find is quite staggering, as well as there being achievements for number of kills and for leveling up guns which too can take some patience.
Worth noting that there are in-game maps that show the collectibles on your own map when purchased.
Step 1 - Campaign:
So first things first, you'll want to begin a new game. You will be given the chance to customize your characters appearance then it's off to begin the campaign.
There aren't any missable achievements as you can continue after completing the campaign so you don't need to worry about anything. I would suggest not doing the collectibles all at once, but collect all of one type for it's achievement, then do some more missions or challenges then return to another set of collectibles for it's achievements and keep repeating this cycle. It will get tremendously tedious if you decide to attempt them all in a single sitting.
There are certain missions and challenges that are good places to grind out certain achievements that will be highlighted in their descriptions below, but note that you can replay every single campaign mission, side mission and challenge as many times as you want to by accessing your log in the pause() menu.
Step 2 - Online:
The online mode is accessed through your single player game by visiting any of the 'Chaos' booths littered all over the city. They are shown as a yellow smiley face on your map, you just need to walk up to one of them and press to begin.
Once it loads you can choose one of five (four originally with two being from the first DLC, Mooil Rig) of the city's districts to play in and each one will get you an achievement for beating the requirements outlined in their descriptions below. The first two or three can be easy with a like-minded team, as well as the DLC area, but the fourth area can prove to be difficult, so if you would like to find people to attempt this with, consult the achievement boosting thread, here.
DLC: The Mystery Of The Mooil Rig
Abbreviated Walkthrough for the DLC:
Welcome to Mooil Rig! The first piece of DLC for the absolutely ridiculous Sunset Overdrive! Mooil Rig is more of the same over the top action and grinding. The single player portion is a somewhat short campaign with six new story missions and two new side missions. You can have these done which includes all of the single player achievements in around three hours.
Your first step is to make your way to the Downtown district to pick your first mission up and begin the campaign. Follow it through and pick up the two side missions as they become available, they each have their own achievement for completing them.
Next you'll want to get online. The target you need is higher for this DLC's achievement but it's not the least bit more difficult. Don't be swayed by it, you'll likely find it easier than the original games Chaos achievements. The other Online achievement is a viral one and you'll more than likely get that in your first game and if not you can use the boosting thread found Here to find someone to help you out.
Conclusion for the DLC:
So for a few hours worth of content, it's not too bad. It's definitely on the easy side and well worth picking up if you enjoyed the original game.
DLC: Title Update 1
(Full G&RM Found HERE)
Introduction to Title Update 1:
Three new achievements have been added to Sunset Overdrive related to episode one, two, and four of Buck National's challenges. All three achievements have you beating a specific score for each challenge. Using and abusing your Hair Spray Bomb with second amendment is going to help you reach that score goal.
For episode one, you are going to want to continually work through the challenges as fast as you can. For episode two and three, you are going to want to reach a certain part of the episode and just focusing on killing as many OD as possible.
If you are familiar with Sunset Overdrive and the three challenges, these shouldn't take more than one or two attempts to reach the required score.
DLC: Title Update 2
Introduction to Title Update 2:
Welcome to the newest Title Update for Sunset Overdrive. This update features a whopping one achievement for 175.
This achievement will take less than an hour (15 minutes max) to unlock.
DLC: Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines
(Full G&RM Found HERE)
Introduction to Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines:
Welcome back to Sunset City! Where the killing is plenty and the OD is in no short supply. In this DLC, you are given a short campaign reminiscent of the rest of the game, with plenty of humor.
The achievements are largely very easy, with five story related achievements, two side mission achievements and the standard Chaos achievement.
Step 1 - Story/Side missions for Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines:
So first you'll want to begin the story. You will be told to head to a waypoint to begin so do this and attempt the first mission that will gain you entry into the new area. Follow the story until it's completed, there's nothign difficult and it's pretty linear so you can't miss anything.
There are two side missions, one is early on which you can do as soon as you acquire it and completing it will earn you "The Pitch" achievement, then there is a second side mission that only becomes available after completing the story mission 'All You Need Is Kill Codes' and this will earn you "Language lessons."
Step 2 - Online:
After completing the single player portion of the DLC, you can move on to Chaos Squad. It's more of the same from the previous DLC and the main game, you just need to reach a certain amount of Chaos and successfully complete the Night Defense mission at the end.
You could also do this first to get it done before starting the story, it's entirely up to you.
Conclusion to Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines:
So it's pretty short, but i can forgive it for it's easy achievements and humor. Enjoy, you'll have a laugh, although an unfortunately short one.
DLC: Title Update 3
Introduction to Title Update 3:
Two new achievements added via another title update!
For this set of achievements, you merely have to replay the Floating Garbage mission and score higher than 50,000. That will unlock both achievements. Enjoy the minor trolling by Insomniac Games with the 1 achievement and the relief that they also give you another 199 instantly.
Conclusion:
A great game, with a more than manageable achievement list for any experienced gamer. What more is there to say?
