Sim About Town

Attend a town event.

Get a fresh newspaper which can be found outside of your front door and then select "Check Weekly Events". A new newspaper is delivered everyday. At the top right of your screen it will pop up with all the events coming up. Press and then check the location, day, and time of the event. Wait until the right time to attend the event and press and go to the "Town Map". Find the place you need to visit and go there. After the event is complete the achievement will unlock.

Here is an event you can do any time:

Event: Amateur Olympics
Time and day: Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Location: Bay Memorial Stadium

You only have to attend to unlock this achievement.

If you check your newspaper daily, it comes with an option to check events. Just go ahead and browse through the events sections and they list what time, date, and where the events take place.

I did that and sent 4 sims to an eating contest and 2 other sims to a Meet and Greet in a park and they didn't count.

Opportunities have credentials that you have to meet once you are at the gathering in town (whichever area you may be). To check these credentials, click the star using RB or LB, press X to open the full window, then press once to the right to highlight the "Opportunities" section. At this point, you can highlight whatever opportunity it is that you would like more info about.

Note: In order to get the achievement, you need to actually be at the place within the times that it states, then accept the opportunity when you have arrived. You can check this in the newspaper under the option "Check weekly updates". There should be a couple of opps in there for you.

@5 I was having the same problem, you actually have to go to the stadium, and opportunity for the 'Amateur Olympics' will pop up, just click the stadium and choose compete in Amateur Olympics. When you get out you'll get a challenge and the chevo will pop up!

This is /not/ for opportunities. You need to go to the newspaper and search for town events. Only these will trigger the achievement.
