The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Achievements

Miser

10
Collect 10000 orens.

This is the big achievement that you must prepare for. First off, this is NOT cumulative, meaning you need to have 10000 at one time. There's a few different ways of making this easier.

One way is to just stockpile items, making sure to store anything unneeded in the chests found across each chapter. Then when you think you have enough; save, then sell everything. You can go back to your save once you've unlocked the achievement.

Chest Locations:

Chapter 1 - Southwest area of the lower level of the Flotsam inn, near the door to the brothel.
Chapter 2 (Roche's Path) - Outside the encampment by the brothel tents.
Chapter 2 (Iorveths Path) - Talk to the innkeeper and use the storage chest in his room at the Cauldron.
Chapter 3 - Inside the ruined building used as an inn southwest of the notice board in Loc Muinne.

On Iorveth's path (this can be done on Roche's path too, but you will have to progress in the chapter a bit before you can go to the area), you can farm the harpies in the canyon for their feathers and other items, and kill them over and over again for lots of orens. Harpy feathers weigh 0.1 lbs, so you can carry many, many of them before you're anywhere near the carry limit. After you kill them (there are approximately 15-20 in this area), return to the hut that overlooks the canyon and wait twenty four hours (meditate with  +  and then select "wait time") to repeat the process. This is also a decent XP farming method.

On Roche's path, this is honestly easier. In the Kaedwini camp, there is an opponent who will arm wrestle for 100 orens every single time and is there indefinitely. You will likely have a decent amount of orens already, so just keep arm wrestling him and betting the max amount and you'll have enough orens to buy or craft just about anything.

If you're really close to hitting the 10K mark and you don't want to grind, make a save in front of a merchant. Proceed to unequip everything and then sell your entire inventory to any merchant. The achievement will unlock after you hit 10000 orens, after which you should definitely reload your save to get all of your inventory back.

It is not cumulative. You need to have 10 000 orens at the same time. The best place to boost some money is in Act II outside the Visionary's hut in The Path To Vision quest. There is infinite spawn of harpies. After killing 4 harpies go back on the path a few steps back and get back there to kill another 4 harpies and so on. Collect the loot and after half an hour or hour (depends on how much you can carry) go sell it. If needed repeat a few times. Good luck.

#2 thanks for that info. I just got here looking for tips considering that Perfectionist achievement. Surprising that this Miser achievement isn't cumulative, because usually that's the way.

I found this achievement easiest to earn in at the beginning of act III. Over by where you arm wrestle Numa, if the shop is on your right, continue left following the wall until you see two guards and a guy in front of them. continue the path and it should lead you up to two harpies and two creatures known as Erynias. Kill these four, and go to your right until there is a ledge u can drop down. Instead of dropping down, wait for 12 hours (I kept switching between noon and midnight) and they will respawn. Rinse and repeat. Note that the Erynias drop all types of mutagens. The best i have recieved off of them is a madness mutagen; hence this is a decent place to grind for mutagens.

#4 is right. Trying this method will earn you around 300 orens worth of loot every 3-4 groups killed, which with a high level character is very quick.
If you're close to the 10,000 i recomend saving and selling everything you have to get the achievement, then reload your save. 10,000 must be on you at once.

#6 has the best approach if you're just playing through the game. I had about 3200 orens, and by Act III, I had so many alchemy ingredients in storage that I had more than enough there to make up the other 7000.

A way that I found is to Arm wrestle Adam Pangratt in Act II on Roche's side. 100 orens a win and infinite tries. Farming monsters is probably more effective but if your not so combat-savy this is a nice alternative.

This was an annoying achievement. I made sure I did this on my first play through on normal. Including about 1,500 spent orens, it took me until Act II to accumulate 10,000 at one time. I had around 7,000 orens and used @8 advice arm wrestling Mr. Pangratt on Roche's side of story. Took about 10 - 15 min to finish the other few thousand orens off.

It's not to much but just outside the inn in Vergen is a dwarf that can be convinced to give 400 orens

infinite fist fighting matches in chapter 2 - Iorveth. Slow, with about 35 orens a win. But hey, put a movie on your laptop and zone out and it's not bad.
